Dave Taylor '77 wins NHL Exec of Year award

Congratulations to Dave as he was awarded this prestigous honor last week by The Hockey News. Anyone who has ever met or knows Dave is aware of what a great guy he is and that he is very thankful for his Clarkson years. I'm proud he's a Techer and glad to call him my friend.

Way to go Dave!!

I'll never forget seeing him go down the right wing boards, take a defense man's best attempt at a hard hit, watch the defense man bounce off, go to the net and score. Way back in Walker Arena days.

A lot can happen in six years.

Two things are constant.

Dave is still with the Kings and...

He still has that incredible work ethic.

My son, a hockey card collector recently brought me a card that says:

"Tuesday, February 5th, 1991"
Los Angeles - 3
Philadelphia - 2

Then a picture of Dave Taylor holding a Philadelphia Flyers puck commemorating his 1,000th point.

"From the 210th player drafed in 1975 to the 1,000 point club, it's certainly been a magical ride for Dave. The 14-year veteran picked up two assists in this game. The second - on a goal by Steve Duchesne at 10:09 of the second period - was point no. 1000."

He wanted to know if he should keep the card. Sorry, guys. I'll work with him.

Earl,

It should be easy to work with your son.

Somewhere at home I have the Taylor commorative poster that was given out at the Forum in '94 (or '95 ?) when the Kings retired Dave's number. A former colleague who was a season ticket holder and one of Dave's biggest fans sent it to me.

One of these days I have to have Tails autograph it and frame it and put it up in my house. That is, if my wife will give up some more wall space for hockey stuff.

My colleague had a framed autographed photo of Dave in her office, courtesy of some old Tech grad.

According to the Kings web site, he is currently the Director of Amateur Development. Not exactly general manager, but that's life in an NHL front office.

BTW, shouldn't this thread be under "Where Are They Now?"
