This year it will be the Tech game AT cornell on Fri. Jan 28. Just got the word, not sure why it's not with RPI. No partnering with cornell but thats no surprise...lol.

I was wondering what the deal with this was going to be. Last year if i remember right, the game was broadcast on CSTV. This year, the game was not on the CSTV schedule, though the cornell game is. I suspect, unfortunatly, this annual alumni satallite game will be a thing of the past, especially since more and more people are getting a satalite dish and personally I would almost rather stay at home and watch the game than go to a local sports bar where the tv is small and I cant hear it. Hopefully CSTV and ESPNU will both catch on, and more and more clarkson games get added every season.

By the way, I love CSTV, they put on a good friday night show, and I will continue to get the sports pack, even though I only get one clarkson game a year. Even the other games are interesting to watch, and gives you a broader perspective on college hockey.

Clarkson doesn't like losing? :D Seriously, that is surprising. I wonder what RPI is doing this year. I'll look into it. Hopefully someone doesn't think that the Union game should be broadcast.

Clarkson doesn't like losing? :D

If this was the case, the game would be against Union.

from the uscho forum..

Also, I hear from the Alumni house that the annual Satellite Hockey broadcast has been cancelled due to Clarkson not wanting to broadcast the RPI/Clarkson game from Cheel.

what's the deal here?

HighlanderRPI is one of the people that started the D3 petition, and typically has reliable information.

I would guess, that since CSTV is already committed to doing one of our games, that that will be the one that's used, thereby saving the $$$ for doing another ourselves. No knowledge here, just a guess you understand.... :)

The broadcast has been an expensive proposition (~$25,000 and more when RPI had it since they don't use a student broadcast crew like Tech does). There are also very few 'public' places, like bars, that still have a C-band receiver to pick up the game. If there was a sat- broadcast this year, we wouldn't not have seen it since the last bar w/ c-band closed last year. The logical alternative was to get on Empire or CSTV which a lot of cable companies and D-TV carry. There is no up front cost to the school, a big bonus, and you can go almost anywhere to watch it as group. Cornell (sucks) is also a logical choice since it next to impossible to get tickets for the CU-Cornell(sucks) game.

Last year they had managed to convince Fox Sports Net to carry the Clarkson v. RPI game. I'm not even sure who paid for what. C-Band is pretty much totally dead.

Disappointing that we can't get together with the RPI crew and raise hell. But having a game on CSTV (which is appearing everywhere now) will have to do.
