Given MCI's impending exit from bankruptcy, it was bound to happen sooner or later.
MCI had another round of layoffs Monday, but I wasn't able to dodge this one.
Because of the economic situation in the state, I will be leaving Colorado on or around the 19th-20th of February and returning to my hometown of Oneonta, NY.
This will not affect the Roundtable for the short term, as the hosting service is fully paid for until mid-July. However, after that, unless I have a job by then, it may be difficult to continue the Roundtable. Web hosting service costs $150/yr, due in July. Support for the board software is paid through January 2005.
In the Roundtable's nearly 3-year history, I have never once asked users to help me finance it, neither have I sold user's information or placed advertising on the pages a la Yahoo -- and I will continue to refuse to sell out Roundtable users or to go to an advertising-based model.
Therefore, I am left with donation as a viable option, at least until I find a new job. If anyone would like to help, please email me offline (sfc AT goldenknightshockey.com).
