What a rollercoaster of a game...3-0 Clarkson, then 4-4, then Clarkson scores twice, SLU evens it up, OT, and a Hell of a finish! What do you think?

What a game.

The good

We won :-).
A truly great first period.
We scored 7 goals.
We never let SLU get the lead.
The freshmen are contributing.

The not so good:

What team took the ice in the second period, certainly not the same one that played the first.
The penalty kill (4 goals for SLU on the PP). Ugh
Alex Dell and Company.
Taking penalties at inopportune times.
The play of Walsh in the nets.

Right now the thing that concerns me is the goaltending. Inconsistent at best. Congrats to the team on the win. Looking forward to 4 points next weekend. Also congrats to the Saints on a heck of a game. They never gave up.

It was an honor just to listen to this game...the parts of it that I could hear. The OT goal caused a great shreiking by the announcer. It sounded great. Thank you Ellis-Toddington. With a name like that, you have to be good.

I must say, that though the game was very excited, what was more exciting to me was the fans! Not only did we break attendance records (4115), but I have never seen so much support for our team. The student section was absolutely amazing! There was so much nosie! After each goal, the whole arena erputed in glorious noise. Thanks to Coach Morris for printing up white t-shirts! Also, thanks to everyone for making so much noise!

:D

awesome game...student section absolutely amazing. the goaltending is obviously a concern though. walsh did not play well at all, mattson not much better. special teams play needs some work too.

Ackley (SLUt Goalie) really did react to the jeers of the student section, during the late thrid period (after the 2 goals) none of the students were chanting at him. When OT came around we started chanting again and what happens? we score! this guy is WEAK! students have to remeber to keep chanting at ackley, we really can get inside his head.
However it was kinda sad that during the first period tech posted 21 shots and only 11 more through the next 2 periods and OT, after tech scored the first 4 tech kinda gave up, overconfidence probably.
Great finish though Toddington came through and redeemed himself with the OT goal, because during the second period a SLU pass deflected off his scate and into tech's goal.

Wow how fantastic! Both my teams won this weekend...Good job, Techers. Sounds like a real nail-biter, though! I hope the goaltending gets better fast. Not good to blow a lead like that. I wish I had been in the crowd for that game. What a great turn out. I know it's a little early in the week, but anyone have predictions on the Princeton & Yale games coming up? LGT!

Despite losing the lead throughout the game, the Knights pulled out the victory and that is what ultimately matters. That was probably the most exciting game that I have watched in my 3+ years here are Clarkson. The student section was crazy all game, which I think was like adding a 7th player on the ice. As others have stated, the goaltending needs to get more consistent. It is nice to see the freshman get involved, I think Latullippe will develop into a strong part of the Knights' offense when he gets some more experience. Hats off to Kevin O'Flaherty on this Hat Trick, way to go! Predictions for this weekend anyone?? I'm going to have to predict a Golden Knight's sweep. Lets go Tech

i think latulippe already is a big asset on offense. Goaltending certainly is going to need to work out if we are gonna be a top team this year. I predict the sweep this weekend as well though. Good web page you got there nick, where is Kerry Ellis-Toddington in your top player picks though?

Great Game! It's good to hear reports of a loud obnoxious crowd. I listened to the game on the 'net and my hats off to the fans. Cheel can sometimes be rather quiet but it's great to hear the place rock:D. I hope it stays that way for all the games and not just for the hated sluzers. I saw the request for the students to stand the whole game. I'm curious. Did they? I think that's a good thing. The students stood for the whole game when I've been to games at Union, Umass - Amherst, and UMaine. Also the t-shirts are a good idea. I first saw this at the ice breaker this year where the students all wore blue shirts that said "maine-iak". The saying was pretty dumb but seeing a mass of blue in the student section was impressive. Now if we can only get the rest of the sections as excited as the students. Good job pep-band and fellow techers!! We'll be listening for you on the 'net this weekend when we gain 4 points!!

Ellis Toddington isn't on the picks because I made them before the season started, based on what I saw last season. I could change it, but that would be cheating! So far most of the team is playing superb so I guess everybody could be on there. The question regarding students standing, yes, we all stood the entire game and were loud the entire game. I have never seen so many people packed into that student section.
Lets go tech, lets have a weekend sweep!
