We ate there parents weekend. Place was packed and it took forever to get waited on and twice as long to get our food. Food was OK but nothing outstanding. I'd go to the Barben Room in Cheel and have the pregame buffet for $14.95 if you can afford the price. The food is good and you might see some recruits there along with the coaching staff

Just for berbs91:
Beef Bourguignon - Stuffed Chicken Breast - Bowtie Pasta with Garlic & Basil Broth - Au Gratin Potatoes - Steamed Broccoli & Cauliflower - Tossed Salad - Rolls & Flat Bread - Desserts
They start serving at 5 PM and it costs $14.95 per person...knew I saved that menu for a reason. hehe I should go to that buffet more often the food is much better than what ARAMARK normally shoves down my throat.

We would recommend eating in the Barben Rooms for the pre-game buffet. The food is usually excellent, and the price of $14.95 includes tax and tip. We love the convenience of having the fine food and being right on the premisis...just a short walk down the stairs into Cheel Arena. In fact, if you prefer, you can watch the pre-game warmup from the Barben Rooms overlooking the ice surface.
Union has done very well in their games prior to the beginning of the ECAC season this weekend. And Union always seems to play well against Clarkson. It would be nice this year to glue down the net so the Dutchmen cannot upend it at their convenience. Once in a while at Archilles Rink and at Cheel as well, when the action got heavy in front of the Union netminder, invariably one of the Union players would somehow manage to get away with upending the net, thereby stopping play before Clarkson could score.
However, a new Knight is upon us, and I would hope that no team would take the Clarkson Golden Knights as an easy two- point victory.
What predictions for this weekend's game against RPI and Union do people have?
BETTER DEAD THAN RED. BEAT RENSSELAER.

4 points!
Well RPI has certainly put up little resistance in the past so based on past performance (for whatever it's worth) we should get 2 points there. Union game will probably be the tougher of the two game. Looking for 4 points.

I realize that Union has a better pre-season record, losing only to UNH by a score of 9 - 2, and perhaps having no ties. But, that is a much wider margin of loss than our loss to Colorado College, 3 - 2. Yes, I know that UNH is rated higher than Colorado College.
How difficult has the rest of Union's schedule been in contrast to Clarkson's?
LET'S GO TECHERS--ON TO TWO VICTORIES THIS WEEKEND

Onion schedule (http://uscho.com/schedules/team.php?season=20032004&team=uc&gender=m)
Well Goldie, neither team has had a difficult schedule excluding the previously mentioned UNH and CC. Union has also played Niagara (who beat UNH*-minus some suspended players), Merrimack, AIC, Bowling Green, and Bentley. Combined record of 11-21-4. 7-20-4 excluding UNH
Clarkson's opponents record is 7-9-3, 2-9-2 excluding CC.
Clearly, Union has beaten the teams they should have and came up with a poor game against UNH, or maybe a predictor of things to come. My reasoning for a W over the Onion peelers is the encouraging play of the freshmen, its a home game, and the fact that Traylen is playing well. It should be a tough game as the Dutchmen have a good goaltending duo. I'd expect Mayotte to get the nod against the Knights. I think Union is a little short on d-men this week-end and with it being the 2nd game of the week-end...let's get 2 on Saturday! But it could go either way if the Dutchmen can make the memories of the UNH loss disappear.
Players to watch on Onion - Scott Seney, and Joel Beal.
3-1 Knights. LGT!
I'll link this thread to see if more Union fans would like to comment.
Edit: btw, who is going to contact CCG to ensure we have a webcast? Missing Findlay/SHU was acceptable, RPI/Union is not.

I wrote a nasty-gram to Sean Frazier this week. Upshot was that if we're a technology school, how come we don't have the technology to fix this problem. Sean promised "We will fix the problem and help our student group to make sure that no more mistakes happen with the internet broadcast. There has been a bit of growing pains with the new leadership that oversees the broadcast, but I feel confident that we all are on the right track and will have this weekends games ready to go."
We're letting business folks run the streaming server. I say it is high time to put the engineers back in charge!! :)

I wrote a cordial email to Gary Mikel and he too assured me that the feed would be up this weekend and would start soon enough to hear the pre-game show. He also mentioned that last weeks problems were caused by a virus that shut down the server and could not have been prevented. Any way the game should be on soon so

With regards to a technical school and having servers that are up...
If you lived on campus you would not believe all the problems over the last few weeks. Internet has been going down a couple times a day along with various other problems like e-mail going down. OIT on this campus is completely incompetent. All they ever do is blame it on a virus instead of solving the problem.
I feel really sorry for you guys that want to listen to the stream. You should be able to listen to it...but incompetency in certain departments seems to prevent it.
And with regards to tonights RPI game...Hansen sucks... Going to leave it at that lest I lose it...
Congrats to the team on an inspiring game:
The Good:
We kept a 3rd period lead for once :)
Only 2 shots given up to Union in the third (AWSOME)
Traylens breakaway stop
Played with a lot of Discipline tonight
Goals by Blight 2, Faulkner and Edwards Congrats
Did not hear Alex Dells name mentioned much :) .
The not so good:
Can't think of anything right now though I am sure the coaching staff will find some stuff :) .
Cornell put the hurt on Princeton BIG TIME TONIGHT 7-0. Gonna be a tough game this Friday. LGT

How about Traylen falling flat on his face as he came out onto the ice for the second period?
That was the only really bad thing imho...but it didn't really seem to affect him thankfully. Other than that I thought it was a good game...especially with no Hansen! :)

Don't you think that could have also relieved the tension from the game>? I laughed out loud..... that was funny but Traylen managed to get up really gracefully and look as though nothing happened. For a split second he looked like superman. he he he
What a great game, I want to add my congrats too. Much more inspiring tonight than last, in that CLarkson won!:D

As far as the Clarkson Website is concerned...Gary Mikel is the reason why the Clarkson University Hockey web site is so proficient. We are, by far, one of the most organized and up to date Div. 1 web sites available. We have a very organized and professional S.I.D, if you don't agree, take a look at the S.LU. site or any other site and compare. We are above the rest.
Let's go tech and good job Mr. Mikel. We are lucky to have such a professional.
I just love the way our team is responding to our coaching staff. The energy in the Barben room is intoxicating. It is so nice to see the players so happy.
Let's go tech. Make some noise this weekend!
Whoop arse next weekend!

Sometimes the process on making ice between periods is imperfect and leaves little imperfections in the ice. Hitting one of those with the first step can cause just what you saw. No biggie. Hockey is a game of high speed adjustments to the rapidly changing situations anyway. No one gives it a second thought especially with the amount of skating that these guys do.
I see good things happening for this team as an observer from afar. This year could really turn out OK with a lot more hard work.

Dick,
Thank you for your sensible explanation of what happened to Dustin at the beginning of the period as he was skating towards the net.
Thank you also to our all Golden Knights for an outstanding team effort against Union. Not only does Union have a very good hockey team, they also have some wonderful fans which support them. Union itself is a very classy college and certainly one of our personal favorite ECAC opponents.
The coaches changed the lines a bit last night, enabling Trevor Edwards to center Robbie McFeeters and Jay Latulippe. Trevor gave his linemates credit for their hard work when he scored the game-winning goal for a Clarkson 2 - 1 margin over Union near the end of the second period. Trevor also assisted on Chris Blight's first goal of the evening in the third period.
Clarkson's other goals were scored by Mac Faulkner with assists earned by Ken Scuderi and Mike Sullivan and the fourth goal was an empty netter by Chris Blight with Mac Faulkner again assisting.
It was a truly delightful game to watch as the Golden Knights never gave up. They controlled the puck very effectively in the third period, and finished checks thoroughly. It seems they gradually wore Union down. We are beginning to see some of tenacious checking along the boards that JF Houle always exhibited when he was a Golden Knight. And we are also beginning to see more Golden Knights skating with the puck across the blue line instead of just dumping it in and hoping for best. (The best rarely occurred). Of course, the alternative would be losing two home games in a row to begin in the ECAC season.
In closing, Clarkson fans were grateful they did not have to see the name of scott hansen on the back of the referee last night. I have only written one letter to the ECAC Commissioner in ten years, but letter number two will be on its way to him this coming week.
WE ARE PROUD OF OUR GOLDEN KNIGHTS.

Come on guys...all I said was that it was a bad thing...but that it wasn't the end of the world as it didn't seem to affect him. If he had been like the RIP goalie last year it would have bothered him throughout the game and we would have lost 7-1 like they did last year. Thankfully it didn't bother him and we came out on top.
Oh and did anyone else read the recap on USCHO. Talk about concentrating on Union...seemed like the whole article was making up excuses for their loss. Guess that's what you get when the local paper for Union writes it. Wasn't horrible but I wish it would have concentrated a little less on the losing team. Those type things should be as unbiased as possible imho.
And Goldie Knight I think I can speak for most of the students and especially the pep band when I say it was quite a relief for everyone to not see Hansen there. Wasn't expecting a wonderful game with Dell there but I think overall the reffing was much better than the previous night.

Every week I go the the Clarkson site and print out the week's press relief in PDF. I also go to the opponents' website to try to read up from they're standpoint. Clarkson's site is in the upper eschelon (sp?) of the NCAA's. A few school's are on a similar par (OSU, and Bemiji aren't bad), but off hand I can think of none that surpass Clarkson's new site. Now if the internet broadcast keeps up like it was this past weekend we'll have a heck of an internet combo.:)
