College hockey is coming to Rochester in 2007.
The Blue Cross Arena at the War Memorial will host the 2007 NCAA East Regionals on March 23-24. The Eastern College Athletic Conference will serve as host.
Rochester attempted to land the 2005 regionals last year and was turned down. This year arena officials got a late jump and had just 24 hours to put their bid together, said BCA general manager Jeff Calkins.
“It’s great,” Calkins said Monday. “A lot of it had to do with location. They like to see East and West regional sites far enough apart that they don’t get in each other’s way.”
The other regional sites in 2007 will be Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, N.H., (Northeast), the Pepsi Center in Denver (West) and Western Michigan’s Van Andel Arena (Midwest). The Frozen Four semifinals and championship game will be held at Savvis Center in St. Louis.
Sweeeeeet.
