Anyone know where Dano plays now and how he is doing? He was an excellent goalie for Clarkson!

ok, I guess I should pay better attention to the NHL. So he is playing with Philadelphia... has he played in games? Anyone follow how he is doing? Any opinions about it?

found him playing for the Lexington Men O'War of the ECHL - looks like he is splitting time with another goalie....didn't he split time his senior year at CU with Bernard? What happened that year....I looked up his stats and he was 10-9-2????

here are some pictures of Dan while playing for Trenton....

Thank you for the great pictures and stats! I wonder why he was traded even before training camp for Philadelphia. I guess those guys get traded a bunch often. Do you think Dan will "make it"?

Yeah, Dan's senior year, he must of got into a mental rut or something. Bernard took over and really shined. I believe his stats were 13-0-1. In my opinion, both goalies were really talented.

The Flyers are deep in goaltending prospects, even after trading Maxime Ouellet (part of the Adam Oates trade). <note -I'm a Flyers fan>

Unfortunately for Dan-o, the prospect of the NHL does not look promising. He has played well at the ECHL level, and even was an All-Star for the Quebec Citadelles (AHL) his second year.
I'm not sure why he didn't stick? Looks like the Philly Phantoms traded for his rights and eventually decided he didn't fit in their long term plans....(look at the stats after being traded from Quebec)

Expected future -Solid veteran ECHL goaltender with an occasional call up to the AHL.

Perhaps Dan O would benefit from Bobby Clarke ripping him and trading him for a bag of pucks...look what that did for Todd White! :D

Anyone know the affiliation (if any) of the Alaska Aces?

The Aces are considered "independents", with the AHL and NHL. They are a new team to the ECHL this year, as well as a new team in Georgia!!:)

I'm sure these guys realize that it is a place to play to satisty the competive desire. In the article, Dan-o mentions how he was always jealous of the cruise ships to Alaska, and he finally gets a chance to stay a full year there. Good luck to Dan-O and Lipper!!

“I have heard nothing but great things about the city of Fort Worth. After spending last season in Anchorage, Alaska, I’m ready for some warm weather. "

Wow, is he in for a shock! Good things about Fort Worth? Its better than Gary...that might be the only good thing I have EVER heard about it.

Well, I know this is a thread about Dano, but since he played with Bernard and were probably good friends..... I thought I would mention this. Throughout his collegiate career, I know he was a great inspiration to many NC hockey players.

Bernard (Barnyard) is still sharing his passion of hockey with young "up and coming" tenders in MO and playing a little there too!

He is (was?) back up goalie this season for the Missouri River Otters. I am not sure if he is on the team now as the official Missouri site does not have his name on the roster. Here is the link of an old article:(hope it works it looks kind of long.)

Looks like Chris was retired for awhile, then signed a 14 day PTO in Feb. '04 with the Otters, then tried out again for the '04-'05 season.

Bernard (0-1-0) stopped 42 shots in his first start since coming out of a four-year retirement.

Here's one of the clinics he is involved with: St. Peters Spirit (http://www.stpetersspirit.org/skill_clinics.htm).

I didn't check to see if the email address was valid!

In 2005, Dan ended his career with a back injury and settled in the Seattle area. It was then that Dan wanted to give back to the kids and started working with the young goaltenders in the area.

I found this forum when looking for information on Dan Murphys past playing career as I met him after he retired from playing.

He is currently coaching a youth league team and holding the said goalie camps. Though I cannot say for certain from his mouth, Dan is good friends with Seattle Thunderbirds Assistant Coach Jim McTaggart and I believe is trying to eventually get a spot as the Goal-Tending coach on the Thunderbirds.
:D
Dan has movied on from my job to better things.

Good Luck Dan The Man!
