Yet another bad thing this year....

From the Clarkson Daily Jolt:

Update: Students Arrested in Attempted Robbery of Drug Dealer!
Students Arrested on Drug, Weapons Charges
Charges have been levied against the four individuals picked up by police in Ross last night. Remember, they are only accused by police; yet, those accusations are very serious. While we first thought that the individuals were nabbed after a police-led drug bust in Ross, we've found out that is only half the story. According to a news release provided by the Clarkson Integrator, the students were arrested by the St. Lawrence County Drug Task Force and the Potsdam Police Department after attempting to rob a drug dealer while "armed with a deadly weapon." Police, during a traffic stop on Clarkson's campus, recovered a shotgun, .25-caliber automatic pistol, and four pounds (worth approximately $16,000) of marijuana from a vehicle, presumably owned or operated by one of those arrested. We don't know whose car it was, or what circumstances led to the traffic stop.
The individuals (three Clarkson students and another individual from out-of-state) have been brought up on a slew of charges. All four are charged with criminal possession of marijuana and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. Two students have been additionally charged with attempted robbery in the first degree; the non-student was charged additionally with the robbery attempt.

All are being held in lieu of $25,000 cash bail, or $50,000 bond. Last we heard, via official sources, three of those students remained in police custody; one had been released. Those are all the official details we have at this time; when we find out more, we'll let you know.

What the **** are these students thinking? Not only having guns on campus, but robbing a drug dealer as well...Do they not know that activities such as this will follow them for the rest of their lives?

Matthew J. Dorsey, 20, Queens, was sentenced to five years' probation for joining four friends who were attending Clarkson University in a plot to rob drug dealers in March. The plot failed when one of the targets turned out to be a St. Lawrence County Drug Task Force operative.

"You are going to get a chance to move on with your life," Judge Nicandri said. "You are one of the fortunate ones. You are fortunate a lot of people care about you."
