Cheeze, 2 weeks to go before the season opens and this board is dead. Certainly not like the old Roundtable days. Hello up there in Potsdam. Does anyone give a rats a$$ about the new season? What about midknight madness? How did the players look? According to the Clarkson Hockey Site there were 600 people in attendance for the minigame. Is everyone really studying that hard :-) ?

I have to agree that it sure is dead here. Where is everybody?

I don't know...Unfortuantely, aside from the lack of activity, I've noticed that some veterans of the original Round Table (esp. David and Ann Haynes) have not joined here. I'm considering asking WCKN to put some announcements on their Community Calendar, and possibly a small ad in the Integrator.

I've also noticed that there's nothing at the original Round Table location (http://heron.tc.clarkson.edu/~odonnell/roundtable) except a 404 error; I might be able to get Prof. Horn to put a forward in place.

Scott,

how about asking the radio broadcast guys for a plug?

I'll be up there one of the first 2 Nov weekends I hope, and can reiterate if needed.

I'm here!

I've been a bandie since I first came to clarkson in fall of '98

I'm VERY excited about the hockey season started. I was at MidKnight Madness *even though it lasted until 2AM in the morning*

We had a HUGE turnout with a lot of students at the arena until the end of the first period!

The Band, as usual, is always excited for the start of the band season!

We do care! GO KNIGHTS!

Well Bandie, what can be done to get some of your fellow band members and students to start participating on this board. As alumni, I'd say many of us are interested in the hockey program and the goings on up in Potsdam. Hope once the season starts we will see more posts. Will the band be going to the Ice Breaker? What trips are planned. My wife and I really enjoyed the band at Princeton. We plan on being there again this season. Hope you all are there also.

Well... I transferred from clarkson cuz they didn't have a major for what I finally decided I wanted to do with my life. But I hope this board picks up because I still love hockey and will miss the D1 games very much!! Hopefully my women's club team will play up there, but I know Clarkson will kick our butt since the Edge will be becoming a D3 team in the near future. Best of luck for the season boys!!

I'm another Bandie on the message board. The band is ready for another year of hockey. There's another scrimmage that we're going to try to attend this weekend on Saturday. It was kind of last minute, so go if you want to. I believe it is the same format as Midknight Madness, two periods of scrimmage. Afterwards, there will be some kind of band get together. Good luck to the Knights when they take on St. Cloud next weekend in Maine!

The Band will not be attending the games at the Ice Breaker. We will, however, probably be listening to games on the radio, and, as always, thinking of our team!

Go Knights!

yo I'm a student here, but i thinik that the old board was easier to find beacuse it was on Yahoo... the link to this page is hard to see even if you're trying to find it. This page is way cooler dont get me wrong, its just not as easy to access. Maybe try posting a link on dailyjolt.com

Thank you for the suggestion, Bunt. I will probably do so later this evening.

I'm a student (senior) and in the band. I'd be happy to do some publicity. I enjoyed the Round Table my first couple years here, and we can get this built up to have the same or better usage.

I will announce this site in one of the EBoard's next emails to the band. Also I will talk to Ron Ayers about publicizing it a little on the DailyJolt.

Yes they looked good at MidKnight Madness. The band worked very hard at recruiting people to attend. We were very happy with the 600 people- more than I've seen there in the last few years for the event. Anyway we didn't make the trek to Maine, but we will be traveling to the usual RIP/Onion games and Colgate/Cornell games, along with Harvard/Brown on 11/30. If you have any band related questions feel free to email cupband@clarkson.edu or visit our site: http://www.clarkson.edu/~cupband .

I am so happy that there is still some type of board and I applaud those people who put in the effort to create it. I wish there was more activity however. I have gotten so desperate to see a game that I am having my father-in-law tape the game tonight (Colgate-Minnesota?). It makes no difference who is playing. I just want to see some games.

Does anyone know the policy on taping the games at Cheel? When I travel to NY, I always want to get the games on tape. I'll tape them myself if I have to. Who would I have to get permissions from? Any clues?

Eael, I suggest you contact Gary Mikel, the SID at Tech...I have no idea of the policy.

Earl -

The games play on WCKN in the Potsdam area. They are played during the game if it is a sell-out and delayed otherwise, but if you are staying in the area you can get it on tape that way. Especially if you stay at Smallings, for example. I would imagine they'd tape it for you assuming you provide them a tape.

Good luck, though. I'm not sure of the policy on taping the game. I know of a Cornell fan that tapes the Cornell game at Cheel every year, though, so I would imagine you can.

I don't know about going to the game and taping it, but when I was at WCKN, we made copies of games (for a nominal fee) on request, and did so on several occasions.

Give them a call at 315-265-2073 or email hockey@wckn.clarkson.edu.

I had forgotten about WCKN and I used to be in it. I wasn't sure if they were taping the games anymore or not. Whenever I visit, I can't seem to see their cameras. There are really some good angles to take shots from in Cheel and I never see the cameras in any of those places. They could really make some professional looking productions. Well...they probably already do and I just haven't seen them.

Thanks

You were in WCKN? Cool! What years? :D Yes, they're still taping the games -- and broadcasting them all over the North Country, not just in Potsdam/Gouverneur/Canton.

My memory of the Cheel camera layout is a bit hazy, and dates from my time in WCKN ('96-'00), but there's a camera in WCKN's part of the press box, another in the press box next to the computer that runs the Daktronics message board, and a third at the bottom of the student section next to the glass. There's also a fourth camera near one of the locker room tunnels.

For security, the cameras are taken down and locked up except for games, which is probably why you didn't see them.

Any other WCKNers here? (Hiya, Big Dan!)

Yes, I was with WCKN for 1991-1993. I did a show called "Good Night With Earl". It was not the best in the world, but we had a good time with a live audience, skits, top nine list and interviews with guests.

I wish I had been more involved because I do much of this work for a living now. That is why I am interested in taping the games. I would like to build up some type of network to help promote ECAC hockey. There are great games and rivalries in this league. I would love to see a greater draw upon the nation to ECAC hockey. I don't have answers to our publicity dilemna, as this has plagued the league for years and many people more powerful, smarter, and more tenacious than I have attacked this problem before. I just love ECAC hockey...more than any other hockey. Biased, you say? YEP!!!
