We're only 3-5-1 right now. Not 5-5-1

Sorry, I'll fix it later tonight.. I did it late last night and USCHO was down, so I just quickly looked at the CU site and obviously counted wrong.

Subliminally I guess I was already anticipating a win both nights this weekend

:D

You probably counted the two exhibition wins.

Yeah, looks like it. Thanks for pointing out the error. I'll try to update it later on.

What an awful way to blow a game. Can someone who was at the game explain to me WTF happened at the end of the 2nd period and into the beginning of the third????

The Good:

Mike Walsh

The not so good:

Jones with a spearing major

The coaching staff I guess not putting the right player(s) in the penalty box causing a continuation of the 5 on 3 pp for NE leading to the game winning goal ????????

UNDISCIPLINED UNDISCIPLINED UNDISCIPLINED Play in the third period.

What a disappointing Knight after the BIG WIN on Friday. Oh well, on the road to UNH and Lowell.

You can't blame this loss on the players. This was a case of the WORST officiating I have ever seen. Smith was terrible. Our player was being pinned on the ice and we got the holding penalty. No one saw Randy's "Spear" the linesman called it. It really was just a slash that maybe could have been a 4 minute but definetly NOT a 5 minute and a game. The Ref gave us a roughing call when all five NE players were on top of Walsh and only Two Cu guys. It was horrible officiating. The players did get a bit out of control in the middle of the third but by that time the arena wanted to kill the Ref.

I was there Vic. I hate to blame the refs. but they were absolutely terrible tonight. More so in the third. There was a weird beginning of the third where we had two penalties and Northeastern scored..but we never lost a player out of the box. I kept on waiting for him to come out but he never did. Then all of a sudden I looked up and there was a fresh 2 minute minor on the board to #15. I dont know what happened there at all. Plus I know that Randy Jones shouldnt be out a game. That didnt make sense at all. But I just dont get it.

anyways we were the better team...it just stunk that we didnt win afterall. Hopefully we will continue this great play into the next weekend. The stamina and Mike Walsh were great. On to UNH and Lowell, we can beat them for sure...as long as we are all out for 60 FULL MINUTES~

Well thanks for the information. Someone I guess forgot to push the right button for the Clarkson Internet Broadcast. I could not get it and had to listen to the Northeastern Announcers. They were actually pretty good but even they could not figure out why things were occurring, especially at the end of the 2nd and the beginning of the third. And Jones spearing penalty I think means he has to sit against UNH. That is something we did not need to happen.

I was just really disappointed in the way the game went. Sorry to rant and rag on the team. Go get em next weekend guys.

The Watertown Daily Times ends its article on last knight's game with the following.....

"It's a gratifying win", (Coach Bruce) Crowder said, for a guy who is friend of Mark Morris, that one's for Mark."

There were two entertaining aspects of the game.....

1. One spectator in our section repeatedly stood up in the third period, taunting referee Smith, by waving some currency over the glass, and offering it as a bribe to the Smith.

2. After the game, one of our best Clarkson supporters announced that it was the best referring he had ever seen. That comment brought smiles to an otherwise gloomy group.

I talking with a very knowledgable parent it was mentioned that Clarkson was supposed to have had a man in the penalty box to serve Randy Jones's five minute major penalty at the beginning of the third period. (Randy had received a game disqualification at the end of the second period for spearing). No one was in the penalty box and that was why Clarkson got another penalty. The parent said that the referee was not supposed to start the game without making sure everything was all set with the player in the penalty box. So who is actually to blame here--it seems to me the referees need to take some responsbility for their actions.

I must agree that the refereeing last knight was at its worst. There is no question in my mind that the officials lost control of the game and Northeastern was sharp enough to take advantage of Clarkson's lack of discipline. In the old wild west days, those officials would probably have been lynched by the mob for their actions.

Nothing more to say for a while......

HOWEVER, CU did lose their control. I dont know what happened but two goals in a 30 second or whatever it was, is not acceptable. Esp. because tehy have the best PK in the ECAC.
I dont care if they were 3 men short...anyways I dont think that Northeastern's coach should be boosting because CU held control for most of teh game minus 10 minutes or so. And if it was because of silly penalties that we got, so be it...in my eyes, that was our game. He has nothing to boost about at all, plus i hardly think that he knows exactly what happened around Potsdam in the last month. But lets not open that can of worms. (sorry just my opinion)

Good stuff: Definitly Mike Walsh like VIc said. I really think this was a great weekend that we had...it was a practice for the level we will be up against with UNH this weekend. It will be tough being in their rink and the rink the size of the Olympic ice...but if they play like Friday, they can dEFINITLY beat them. Bring some recognition home for the ECAC.

I didnt really get a clear view of Randy Jones misconduct, but people that I spoke to after teh game said that they didnt think it was a spear at all. Anybody actually get a good view??? If he did, he definitly deserves the game...

I know the team esp the D's will miss the presence of Jones on the ice against UNH, but I still think they can win without him. This team isnt one player, as long as everyone is taking shots!!! let's hope it is more than a one goal game next weekend. I am sick of those;)

So sorry that I forgot to mention the three stars of last knight's game against Northeastern. Here they are:

1. Matthew Smith

2. Mike Baker

3. Mike Cross

We hope NEVER to see any of you again at Cheel Arena.

Your ridiculous calls certainly brought out the worst in the Golden Knights and their fans.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In all seriousness, Mike Walsh had an outstanding game, making some brilliant saves. However, Mike is not a miracle man and could not alone defend against that unending 5 on 3 power play advantage for Northeastern.

TBCH13,

No one I spoke with following the game agreed with the call against Randy Jones for spearing. I did not personally see the infraction. Undoubtedly, that call goes right along with the rest of the rotten refereeing last knight.

ON TO NEW ENGLAND...................GOOD LUCK CLARKSON GOLDEN KNGHTS

My Friend spoke with Randy Jones after the game and he said that he did "slash" the player. Slashed the player..... That to me doesn't sound like a major penalty or a game DQ. I tell you it was a crazy game.

The WDT also states that Clarkson recieved a bench minor becuase when the linesman skated by the bench he got hit by a stick and thought it was intentional. I saw the play and two Cu guys were skating toward the bench and ran into eachother and thier sticks hit the linesman. Didn't look intentional at all.

The ref also wanted to call a ten minute misconduct on Rob McFetters after the second goal but later called it off. After the goal Walsh hit the puck out of the net and it hit the ref's skate. He turned around and pointed at McFeeters for a ten minute misconduct. After realizing it was Walsh and not a shot at him he called it off.

Just a few examples of horrible officiating

All that and no "molesting the referee" call (anyone remember that one)?

After reading this thread, I think I'm glad I wasn't at the game. Its not the first time the team has had to play the other team AND the officiating, and this sounds like an absolute joke. Unfortunately, its happened before and it will happen again. Question: were these ECAC refs?

On to New England, Tech. Let's put Saturday's mess in the past! The UNH game will be a real test of what the on-ice team is really made of.

thanks hockeyfan, I heard the same thing as well, through emails. It seems as though our Mr. smith had a little problem with Clarkson...not quite sure why but I think that is why it was infuriating for me to read the WDT article with the opposing coach claiming it was for Mark Morris...his team didnt win it, the refs did. Northeastern needed two 5-on-3's to get the two goals. Sorry, no offense to the Neastern players, I am just frustrated with what I read. :(

ha ha ha...yep, a player was telling me that the linesman called the first bench minor at the beginning of the 3rd because he thought he got hit by the player on the bench...what a joke...oh well, no more complaining for me (at least not toknight):p !

Let's see if we can get decent and fair officiating this upcoming weekend. I dont hesitate to put blame on players if they deserved the penalties that they created IF THEY WERE APPROPRIATE!!!

LGT LGT LGT BRING ON UNH

if he really said "that one's for Mark."
I would expect a little more class from a Division 1 head coach!
Sounds from all who were there like the ref gave'em the game anyway -- good thing it was a non-leaguer!
On to NH!!
LGT! LGT!! LGT!!!
