I was checking out Merrimack's HE schedule and there it is, the Syracuse Inviational is still with us.
This year's stellar field includes: Colgate, Niagara, Merrimack and Mercyhurst.
At least Clarkson isn't in it this year, I cannot believe that this tourney has survived with the way it is run. I would actually like to see Clarkson and SLU host a NC invitational. I owuld think they could get asome really good teams up here.

I was told at reunion that we will not commit to playing there every other year as we had been asked to do! Frankly I hope we dont play there once in every TEN years!
Its a pathetic joke of a tourney, an embarressment to the game!

I know...ever since Pat Smith passed on, they've let this thing go to h-e-double-hockey-sticks in a handbasket. It really does have the potential to be a great tournament, but it's as if the organizers don't care anymore.

If they didn't care, then it really *would* have died. But there are a lot of things that need fixin'. Obviously they have no control over the arena, which is admittedly a hole. But it would be a whole lot more fun if there was a crowd there, and you can't do that if you keep the tournament a secret. Pat Smith did all kinds of stuff to get the word out -- radio interviews, newspaper article the entire week prior, you name it. Maybe the new sponsorship will provide for some advertising, but if its the same people running the show....
Oh, and for crying out loud, why can't they at least properly update the program?!?

Hey, the arena's not a "hole" - it's a hockey barn! Home of the Syracuse Crunch!!!
But you're right, the lack of advertising has almost killed this thing...

I'm not giving in...the place is a DUMP!!!
I played in it in grad school days in '76, broadcast from there in '75, and have seen any number of Tech's visits since '74. It gets failing grades from all perspectives!
There's NOTHING to recommend it...other than the Memorial exhibits. Eat at the concession stands at your own risk!
I can think of several functioning barns I'd rather play in than this hole!
And glad Tech is apparently not going back in the forseeable future!

Yeah, Cornell was supposed to be in this thing again as well, but pulled out when we scheduled the (Screw) BU series that weekend.
For those going to the Syracuse hockey Invitational Tournament, this guide (http://spiritone.com/~kepler/hitch/hitch_syracuse.html) may be of some help.
