(This has been bugging me for a couple of days.. I'm not sure if you'd call it their theme song or not, but...)
Does anyone know what music the Knights use when they skate out of the locker and onto the ice?
Any idea where to find either an audio clip of this music, or find it on CD?
I vaguely remember the music, and I thought it was from the Blues Brothers, but I've had no luck finding a clip that sounds right....

They're still using the Blues Brothers? Cool! Hey, whatever happened to the attempt to write a "Clarkson Fight Song", anyway? Or did they just set the lyrics to the music from "The Blues Brothers" LOL!

We still use the "Blues Brothers" music when the Knights get on or leave the ice, although there has been some talk about changing it (personally, I think it's good, cause it's not gay like Cornell's or Yale's). We also have a goal cheer and the perrennial "LET'S GO TECH!" ad nausium chant. Most of the stuff we play between periods is r&b, mo-town and classic rock.

Sounds like the band hasn't changed much since I graduated (1991). Tell me...does the band still sing if Clarkson scores 10 goals in a game?

Yeah, the band still sings when the team scores 10 goals. Last time that happend was the 11-0 shlacking of RPI. Back in November of '97' I believe it was.

I'm a '91 grad also. It's nice to see they still use the "Blues Brothers" music.
So what is the official name of the song?
Is it on the Blues Brothers soundtrack?
I tried listening to a couple audio clips off that soundtrack at cdnow or amazon, but none of the tracks sound like it....

The name of the song is "I Can't Turn You Loose"
The audio clips may or may not sound like the song depending on what part of the song was sampled. The part of the song the band uses for the team was taken from the middle/end of the song. Not so much the beginning.
Searching for the album title "Briefcase Full of Blues" on Amazon.com will bring up the Album. The song is listed as a sample but since my computer here at work doesn't have speakers I can't check to see what part of the song was recorded.

Not to bust on you to much, but I've heard many people reffer to your music as being pretty gay.

Wait, does SLU have a pep band? I seem to remember something about them hiring a high school band to play. If that were true, that would be really gay.

Sure - its from Blues Brothers yes-- and its called I Can't Turn You Loose. Here's a clip from CDNOW.com:
*Guess the clip won't link, but here's the album --go to Closing - I Can't Turn you Loose:

The music is also on the Blues Brothers Definitive Collection CD. It's actually in there twice. Once at the beginning, track #1, "Opening: I can't turn you loose", and again later, track #17, "Closing: I can't turn you loose." The opening is a lot of talk from Elwood, from the movie, but all the music is there on both tracks.

SLU did do it a couple of times. They stopped because they relized it was pretty gay.

Hey, our fight song is about drinking too much and getting kicked out of school for a year. Heterosexuals can do that too!
Anyway, I would have said a lot of the Tech Pep Band repertoire was classic jazz ("Caravan", "Powerhouse", "Sing Sing Sing").

I would prefer that the Clarkson Band play a classic 'college fight' song like Cornell or Brown plays. Of course, you may call this old-fashioned but that is just my opinion. Class of '49

Didn't they try to write a fight song sometime in the early 90's? Whatever happened to that?
Just as well...fight songs are for football (and maybe squeakball).

What about "Lemon Peel Twist"? That's what the guys came out to in the 70's.

Joe,
You are right! Lemon Peel set the tone down at Clarkson Arena...would love to see them go back to that!
