All I can say is WOW. With all the money woes I have been hearing about at Clarkson lately, I hope this goes a long way to solving those problems. In case you had not heard about it here is a copy of the email I received from Don D.

It is with great pleasure that I announce Clarkson has received a
remarkable gift that will have an enduring impact on our institution. The
Wallace H. Coulter Foundation has made a $30-million commitment to
Clarkson, in support of ongoing excellence in engineering and science
programs.

This is the largest gift in Clarkson's history. It will dramatically transform
our University and will reinforce and broaden our most successful
learning and research activities.

You may be interested in what this tremendous gift means for Clarkson.

The School of Engineering will be named the Wallace H. Coulter School of
Engineering, in recognition of the Foundation's generous gift and the late
Wallace Coulter's dedication to the University as a trustee. A dedication
ceremony is tentatively scheduled for Fall 2003.

The funding from this gift will be directed to a specific array of projects,
with a particular emphasis on support for engineering, chemistry and
rehabilitation engineering. I encourage you to read the news release at
<http://www.clarkson.edu/news/releases> for a summary of the projects
that will be funded.

This is a tremendous moment for Clarkson, a time to reflect upon the
excellence that the Coulter Foundation has endorsed, as well as an
occasion to contemplate this unprecedented opportunity to enlarge and
strengthen the University's impact.

Through this gift, the Coulter Foundation has shown its confidence in our
vision of an innovative educational experience that develops leadership
and knowledge within technologically rich curricula.

Once again, I invite you to read more at
