Brad Dexter, a native of Kingston, Ontario and a former All-America at Colgate University, has been named an assistant hockey coach at Clarkson University. Dexter comes to Clarkson after playing five seasons with the South Carolina Stingrays in the East Coast Hockey League. The all-time top scoring defenseman for the Stingrays, Dexter served the past two seasons with South Carolina acting as a player coach ...

I'm a South Carolina Stingrays fan. I realize you guys don't know him yet, but you're gonna' love Brad Dexter. He was a great defenseman, but he'll make an even better coach. His greatest value to the Rays was on the bench, and in the locker room. He's NOT your typical hockey player. He's very well read, and has a great sense of humor. He even had a weekly spot on our team's television show. With his hockey knowledge and communication skills, he'll be a great teacher of the game.
We'll miss him in Charleston.................
You're lucky to have him.
Good luck next season, we'll be watching. :)

PS: I almost forgot......................
The Stingrays won the ECHL Championship this year, with a couple of your alumni playing key roles. Dave Seitz led the playoffs in goals, assists, game winning goals, and won the MVP award. Buddy Wallace also had a great playoff run. He was one of the leaders on our team, and was our main penalty killer. He even played the last half of the deciding game with a broken leg.
Thank you for your contributions to our team. :)

Well another Colgate guy. Are we going to change our uni's to have a big "C" on the front of the sweater, too :)
I wuz wondering where Buddy Wallace ended up. Good to see he's still involved and, shades of Bobby Baun, winning the championship on a broken leg.
This guy sounds great even if he is another gate alumnus :). Now let's see if he can recruit as well as teach. One thing I heard from a friend who knows Bill O'flaherty, the Flapper always said any assistant's you get at Clarkson either better be a Clarkson alumnus or he better be from Ontario.

Vic,
I know Billy O' pretty well and though I've never heard that one, it does sound like him! I'll ask/razz him about it at the reunion in a couple of weeks! Ya know, Billy has a resemblance to Yogi in his famous sayings!
I am beginning to wonder about this "Gate connection however.

Richie, as far as I am concerned we could have a Timbuktu connection as long as the assistants know how to recruit and keep us near the top of this league. And may be even get us into the NC$$ show where we finally win a damn game.

Okay folks, I'll be more direct!
Jim Roque left some big shoes to fill! He was an excellent and highly respected assistant coach. I hope to meet Brad Dexter in a few weeks and will have a better feel then.
