View Full Version : Clarkson vs. SLU {Victory 1 of 2}
Wow great game tonight, lots of action on the ice, and Clarkson's two main freshmen Latulippe (goal) and Jones (goal 2asst) proved vital in this game. Also a fine goal by Poapst. This is one of the first nights where Mike Walsh really proved his worth. If hes this good all playoffs, Watchout Frozen Four!:D

Congratulations to all the Golden Knights on their well-deserved victory over the SLUZERS. It was nice to see so many SLUZER fans strategically placed in the sections adjoining the Pep Band, so they could enjoy the band's enthusiasm. The CU PEP Band certainly outdid themselves last night. Tons of spirit and terrific entertainment by our band helped encourage the team on to victory. The green and gold balloons were a tasteful touch. The idea of placing coins in plastic jugs and shaking them created an unusual, unique sound at Cheel.
As expected, the Golden Knights were focused on their goal of getting to Lake Placid next weekend. Mike Walsh played an awesome game. I watched him in practice Thursday night, and he was stopping just about everything, even two on one breaks. The determination to win carried the Golden Knights to the type of game they will need to reach from now on.
Congratulations also to Randy Jones, Matt Poapst, and Jay Latulippe--each of their goals were just incredible to see.
GOODBYE SLUZERS.
OUR KNIGHTS ARE AWESOME.

Here are some statistics from today's Watertown Daily Times:
"Winning the first game of an ECAC quarterfinal series has meant a lot recently as 28 of the last 30 teams to win the opening game went on to take the series."
"Clarkson improves to 10 - 4 - 1 against SLU in post-season games and also is now 19 - 2 in ECAC quarterfinal games in Cheel Arena."
"Clarkson coach Mark Morris said of Randy Jones, "It's like he's got a string on the end of his stick connected to the puck sometimes. He's got exceptional hands and vision and patience galore. His puck-handling abilities are as close to (former all-American) Brian Mueller's as anybody we've had in recent memory."
Personally, I am immensely proud of this year's freshman class. Clarkson made some outstanding choices for recruits this season. Randy Jones, Chris Blight, and Jay Latulippe have just amazing talent.
Lastly, Mike Walsh deserves many accolades for his stellar performance. He played one of his best games last night, challenging and winning all but one battle (the SLUZERS one goal) all knight. Good luck to all our Golden Knights as the SLUZERS warm up their bus one final time to return to Canton. It won't take long to warm up the bus though, as it is about 60 degrees in the Potsdam area.
OUR KNIGHTS ARE ABSOLUTELY AWESOME.
