Well, it is not official, but sounds just about. What do you think? Personally, i don't want SLU because that will be a gut wrencher. Exciting, sold-out games for the North Country though.

and who will Ruth Haley root for?
Right now I would not want to put money on either team to win this series. This should be one heck of a battle and will probably go 3 games. My guess is the team that wins on Friday will win this series. One thing is for sure, we have to play a lot smarter in this series than we did in the two regular season games. We cannot allow SLU to run their PP and when they do get PP opportunities, we have to block shots from the points. The league will definitely make a LOT of money on this series :) .

great game tonight.....the final skate-around by the seniors to the Superman theme was awesome. They each took a dive into the boards in front of the student section too. I'm worried about SLU(t) next week too. It should be absolutely crazy.

I don't look forward to SLU either why can't we play yale or princeton or someone. It's definately gonna be a nail biting weekend. I'd guess that SLU is pretty happy about playing at tech. They can hardly call it a road series. Well at least Cheel won't be quiet for this one!!!!!!
Same prediction I made on USCHO
Clarskon 12 SLU 11
SLU 11 Clarkson 10
Clarkson 15 SLU 14
Several shifts in momentum, and 2 furious third period comeback by the Knights after falling behind by 8 in the second.

Congrats to the Knights!!!!!
But what on earth did we do to deserve this? A best of three with an arch-rival 11 miles down the road??? I don't care where they finished. This is going to be rugged!! At least the Knights will be up and focused for this series. And no one is going to beat the atmosphere.

Well, well, well, folks, here we are in second place as the ECAC regular season is over. Our opponents in the quarterfinals are our Route 11 rivals.
Let's take a peek at the positives--the Golden Knights are playing at Cheel, an arena in which they have been most comfortable most of the season. At the after-game party in the Barben Rooms last night, each senior basically repeated the same words of excitement. The Golden Knights cannot wait to play the SLUzers! They are confident that what happened to Clarkson in January will not re-occur. To all those with whom we spoke, the players did not care who their opponent would be. Then when it was annouced that the SLUzers would be our foes, the Golden Knights seemed very pleased.
So folks, if the Golden Knights are anxiously awaiting the #9 seed, shouldn't we also have good feelings about this upcoming weekend?
Even the freshmen who were not involved with the Vermont disaster last March have been made aware of how important these next games are. Remember that nearly every single one of our Golden Knights are healthy and ready to do their very best in the less stressful confines of Cheel Arena. Plus the fact, the team played excellent hockey this weekend.
Jokingly, one of the parents even suggested that Clarkson fans buy all the tickets so very few would be available for the "out of towners" from Canton. Now that's a thought.
DOES ST. PATRICK EVEN LIKE ST. LAWRENCE?

Vic--this is in regard to your post on USCHO--and to anyone else who would like to respond.
Don't you think that both the SLUzers and the Golden Knights will play with a similar amount of enthusiasm due to the fact that the loser will go nowhere except home for the rest of the season?
I don't believe that is just an advantage for the SLUzers; it is also a strong, intense motivater for the Golden Knights after seeing the reality of what happened to them at Cheel last March. Last night the Knights were ready to take on any rival, and with renewed confidence. You can't blame them for that because they had just won two important weekend games at Cheel.
Clarkson's record at home for the quarterfinals had been absolutely unblemished since March of 1992 until last March of 2001. We never lost a quarterfinal game at Cheel until last March. That record must speak for itself, and it will be learning experience for them.
The Golden Knights will be ready for this weekend. My thoughts are that Clarkson will win two close games and advance to Lake Placid for the ECAC Tournament.

You know... I had that same thought and I wasn't thinking jokingly!
Anyway both of your posts have made me think and made me ashamed. I think that the bitter taste of last year still lingers in our mouths and we don't want to take anything for granted (like I, at least, did last year) and be embarrased again, but you are right. Overall Cheel has been very nice to Tech in the post season and I now believe that with the teams experience from last year and from the 2 games with the SLUzers this year that Cheel (and the Knights) will be nice to us once again! I'm leaning to a 2 game series with 2 close wins by the Green and Gold!!
Also my I humbly suggest (as an out of town alum who will not be able to be at the game) that we some how start a "Wear Your Green and Gold" campain for this weekend and flood Cheel with Clarkson colors to show the team who we believe in!:)
Hope to see you all in LP!
I LOVE MY TEAM!!:D

I agree whole heartedlly with this. I think I was one of the few people last year that did not like Vermont as our 1st round opponent. Even though we beat them 2 times during the regular season, the wins were mainly because we took advantage of Vermonts taking stupid penalties. In the playoffs they stopped the stupid penalties and sure enough they gave us a tough series and won it.
I do not like this first round opponents either. I really think these teams are pretty evenly matched. The biggest thing for us in this series will be our discipline. If we go in and take stupid penalties, SLU will make us pay for it. They have shown in the first two games that they can score on our PK. The second part of this is our shots on goal. Please get those shots on the net guys. You can't score shooting over the net or missing wide. SLU's defense (DiLauro especially) is definitely gonna cough up the puck a few times in front. They have been doing it all year and I expect them to do it a few times in each game. We have to take advantage of it.

I read that the games are going to be "white-outs", so I hope everyone wears white this friday night...also, this year has been disappointing in the fact that one side of Cheel arena is pretty quiet...i hope this weekend, Clarkson fans will blow SLU fans out with their claps, chants and screams! I think this is a great motivation for the players while they are on the ice.
In Clarkson's former rink, it was really loud (probably because it was so much smaller) but still, I hope that the crowd goes wild this weekend.
GOOD LUCK KNIGHTS!!! MAKE SURE YOU DO IT IN 2 GAMES!!!
P.S. I think friday is the biggest game because then all they have to win is 1 out of 2 games. It is crucial that they come away with a win.

Tech couldn't have asked for a better first round opponent, IMHO. Unlike last year's disaster, they can't help but have their heads in the game. Since they split this season with two one-goal games, there is something to prove in spite of the #2 & #9 finishes. No one is going to expect a cake walk.
My prediction? Home ice will be kind this time. Knights in two tough games, both by one goal (not counting any ENGs). Just hope there is no let down in the semi's when/if they pull this one off.
LET'S GO TECH!!! BRING ON SLU!!!

This is one series that will not lack for drama. I really think that the team that plays its game and does not get too caught up in the rivalry will advance.
That said -- we play on Sunday. Tech wins 7-6 Sunday and 4-2 on Friday. SLU ties it up 2-0 on Saturday.

Fri - Clarkson 4, St. Lawrence 2
Sat - St. Lawrence 6, Clarkson 4
Sun - Clarkson 4, St. Lawrence 1
The "Larries" (you like that one, Stemmer?) fall apart in the deciding game; Puck Avalanche has an epileptic seizure and is hospitalized and Rich S. narrowly defeats Al DeFlorio in a tequila drinking contest at Rulloff's in Ithaca (visited this summer, the food is still good and the drinks don't seem as overpriced anymore now that I'm back home in NYC/LI).

Okay guys I'm gonna weigh in on this one now. I say Tech in 3 games. If the boys lose to SLU more than once this season they will end up being local and campus pariahs. Here we go:
Tech 4, SLU 2
SLU 3, Tech 1
Tech 7, SLU 2
LGT!!! wooooooooo!!!:D

oops. Biiig mistake there. I meant series-wise, like 1 series is during regular season(we'll call that 1 loss), and this will be playoffs(1 game=1/2 loss so 2 lost games in this playoff series would be a full loss)? Been a long day. Sorry for being a stupid girl. fuzzy math fuzzy math! woooo! uh, time to go home i reckon.....

After talking with the Director of Cheel Arena this afternoon, I was not surprised to learn that all seats have been sold out. There is standing room only left.
OPTIMISM IS THE FAITH THAT LEADS TO ACHIEVEMENT!
Where else would the Golden Knights be happier to play? Home ice advantage is a dream come true for them, especially against the SLUzers. I can never remember quarter final games being sold out in the past, but they might have been. It is my understanding that the lowest price the ECAC will permit arenas to charge is $8 per seat, and that was the price of our tickets for this series. What a refreshing change from the usual $12 per ticket. The North Country economy simply could not afford those prices and attendance has dwindled this season.
Composure and discipline are key factors in our victories this weekend. My prediction is that Clarkson will win in two fairly close games. As much as I love Clarkson hockey, my preference is to relax at home Sunday night.
St. Lawrence fans with whom I have spoken are most apprehensive about SLU's chances this weekend, but they are thankful they don't have to travel far to watch their team at Cornell. Others are just grateful that the SLUzers season is not yet over.
HAVE FAITH IN OUR TEAM, FOLKS. OUR KNIGHTS ARE AWESOME!

Seats were sold out by last Sunday, I think standing room is almost gone too. Its going to be crazy this weekend. Here are the pep bands plans for the wknd, gonna be tough though with the student body divided.
Pep Band Hockey Guide v2.0
The Clarkson Pep Band is working hard to keep you informed about the events for the hockey games this weekend. Here are the tentative plans and will probably change, when things are finalized we’ll try to put a page up on the Jolt.
Clarkson Athletics has asked for a whiteout for both games. Let’s shoot for a real whiteout like the one at last fall’s SLU game. Apparently face decals and “pep rags” are not free but instead will be sold for a very small price in Cheel on Thursday and Friday afternoons. Sorry about that, this stuff is as new to us as it is to you. If you do like free stuff the Pep Band has a whole bunch of stuff left over from the SLU game in the fall that they'll probably be handing out as best they can even though the students are all split up.
If you need a shirt for the whiteout the Pep Band is selling RPI SUCK/SLU SWALLOWS shirts for $10 and whiteout shirts for $5. You can either buy them at the game or in advance by contacting Nate D. at dudeknt@clarkson.edu or x7754.
Now for the Festivities…
The Pep Band made a SLU player and a ref to hang in effigy. All we need now is 30 or 40 feet of rope. If anyone can help out in this department please email waldenbe@clarkson.edu .
Wear stupid hats the game. The best stupid hat is if you have a hockey helmet unscrew the facemask and wear it. O’Flaherty’s friends from Canada (the ones who are always a ton of fun) usually come to the playoff games and if a whole bunch of students had helmets it’d be great. If you don’t have a helmet afros, sombreros, or any big hat will do. Yeah its stupid, but we’ll all look stupid together.
The Band will paint your face for free (while supplies last), just stop over and ask before or during the game. If you want to buy your own face paint you can buy it at the Misty Hollow in town. Yellow is 5 bucks and green is $6.60. I have no idea why they’re different prices.
In addition to drawing on the walls in Cheel as mentioned as few paragraphs below this one, if you want to make your own sign the Pep Band will gladly hang it up for you in a high place so that people hopefully won’t be able to tear it down. We can’t hang up anything too overly sexual, but it is the last home weekend of the season so we’ll be as lenient as we can be. If you ask at the CUSA office in Cheel and say that you’re making a sign for the game they’ll probably hook you up with some really big paper. We’ll try to get in touch with them and confirm this. The CUSA office might also have paint but we doubt it. If you have a sign done by Thursday night that you want the Pep Band to hang email waldenbe@clarkson.edu . If you finish it on Friday put it in section 17 in Cheel on Friday afternoon.
The Pep Band has decided to make empty 1-gallon milk jugs filled with coins the official noisemaker of the weekend. The Band can’t afford to buy a whole bunch of milk, so if you want a noisemaker you have to make it yourself. After extensive scientific testing the Band has discovered that ½-gallon plastic jugs or plastic liquor bottles work just as well as gallon jugs. Please take the labels off of any empty liquor bottles and have the coins inside the bottle before entering Cheel. We don’t want anyone getting in unnecessary trouble. Please don’t take any glass bottles or full liquor bottles into Cheel. If you have extra containers that you’d like to donate to needy fans please email waldenbe@clarkson.edu .
The Band is trying to acquire rolls of blank newsprint to cover the walls in Cheel and then leave markers out for students to draw their own signs and messages on the newsprint. The effect will hopefully create a collage-like appearance all the way around Cheel. If anyone knows where to acquire large amounts of paper please email waldenbe@clarkson.edu .
BE THE SBG CONTEST!!!
Yes you too can be like the infamous horn blower. This contest is still tentative as we are waiting to see if we have Jeremy’s (that’s the SBG’s real name) permission. If it happens, each contestant will get one chance to yell berating remarks at SLU’s goalie in the style of the SBG. The winner will get a Clarkson Hockey Super Fan shirt and will get to pull the horn when the team taps their sticks on the ice at the end of the game. Prizes are subject to change. Official rules and judging procedures will be listed if the contest actually happens.
The Pep Band also will be hanging green and gold streamers all over Cheel. If you have any other decorating ideas, or if you have any sign ideas (can be against SLU such as “Play like a Sluzer today” or for Clarkson such as “Hit ‘em in the junk Techers”), or if you have ideas for fun stuff to do at the game either post here or email waldenbe@clarkson.edu .
Only 11 hours to go. 6PM is the deadline to go to the USCHO Community Forum and register your picks in the ECAC Playoff Contest Thread.

Congrats to the team toknight. Anyone who was there fill me in on the game. Was not able to listen toknight and won't be able to listen tomorrow. SLU fan over on USCHO was complaining about our gooning it up and about some fight near the end of the game where we were throwing punches? Can anyone give me an unbiased view :) .
What a joke. Peverly hacked Walsh at the buzzer on a last second save and the Clarkson players went after him, bothsides threw punches. There was NO goon play what so ever by either side. Sounds like sour grapes. It was a well played game. Only questionable call, or non call, I think was right before the SLU goal was on a Clarkson penalty kill. The penalty called just seconds after Poapst was tackled by a SLU defensemen. The penalty on Clarkson was a penalty, no question, but almost the same play was not called just 30 seconds before. (not the first and certainly not the last time that will happen) Overall it was an entertaining game, evenly called. Play was even in the first, SLU controlled the majority of the second and Walsh stood on his head, Clarkson got the better of it in the third, but not to the degree SLU did in the second. Clarkson gets outshot by a good margin, but had many many chances miss just wide and just high, the chances were more even. Bottom line, they got it done, especially Walsh.

VicB - While I wasn't there, it didn't sound to me like there was any gooning it up at the end. Bottom line is that it was a well-played game, evenly officiated and the better team one tonight.
Here's to hoping SLU can live until Sunday but they can't win if you can't score. Just wish I could be at Cheel for the remaining
game(s).
The ECAC Chat Room didn't work well tonight, so a bunch of us talked at http://www.lolclan.com/chat.htm - join us tomorrow if you can.
How about LSSU beating Michigan - that's a huge upset.

You got it right on Brian. Nothing happened at the end of this game that warranted any serious penalties or dq's. This kind of minor stuff happens at the end of many games.

While we SLU and Clarkson fans don't necessarily like one another, I know we all hate BC and their obnoxious fans. As such, I'll lighten the mood a bit and post here a story I posted recently on the skatingsaints.com message board. I think you Clarkson fans will get a kick out of it, so here goes:
Tue Feb 19 20:42:57 2002
My last post was serious in nature so I'll switch gears and try and bring some humor to the table this time. This was probably the only case in SLU hockey history where a Team Manager, due to his (i.e., my) total incompetence directly affected the outcome of a game.
As you all know, game pucks are supposed to be frozen so as to minimize them from bouncing around. As one of the Managers, it was my responsibility to freeze 25-30 pucks the day before each game (note: there was no netting behind the goals in the 70's, thus the need to freeze so many pucks).
We're playing BC in an important league game (they were then part of the ECAC) on a cold February night and I get to Appleton about 1.5 to 2 hrs. before the game to slice oranges, juice up the water bottles, and arrange equipment, uniforms, sticks, etc. Lo and behold, I check the "puck freezer" inside the Coaches Rooom and realize I didn't do my job the day before and only 3 of them are frozen. Thank God that our great Coach, the late Bernie McKinnon, happened to be out of the Coaches Room when such discovery was made.
As the SLU players arrive, I inform each of them of my incompetence, to be ready for bouncing pucks, and to go against the norm and perhaps keep their sticks off the ice rather than on it when receiving pasess or jamming home "on-ice" rebounds. I beg each not to tell Bernie because he'd wanna kill me and the players oblige, I think.
Bernie arrives and gives the most passionate pre-game speech I've ever heard. Seems that the legendary BC Coach John "Snooks" Kelly was going for his 500th win and Bernie hammered home the fact that this was not going to happen to the 'Larries' (as we were called then - I'm very grateful it's the 'Skating Saints' now) in our own building.
Bear in mind that this was in a day where the extent of media coverage was not even close to what it is now, and PC's/the Internet were just a figment of an inventor's imagination. As such, we knew relatively little about what was going on with our opponents and their coaches (except Clarkson, of course!). Pre-game speech well-received, the SLU team comes out flying and does so the entire game.
The game starts, and sure as you-know-what, the 3 frozen pucks become souveneirs in the first 3-4 minutes. Just my luck! As pucks continue to fly out of play, I'm now handing the officials (does anybody remember Percy?) unfrozen pucks that appear cold because they have been in an ice bucket for a short time. Back then, the benches were close together on the east side of Appleton, and the Managers and Trainer's for both teams stood between them, thus we could hear what players and coaches from both teams were saying.
As the game progresses, the pucks are bouncing all over the place, even with fresh ice to start the 2nd and 3rd, and the BC players keep coming off the ice muttering (that's a nice way to say it here), "what's wrong with the ice - this is always the best ice we play on". Even Bernie starts complaining about it but it falls on deaf ears with his players because they know what's going on. BC gets an extended PP or series of PP's at a critical point in the game (may even have been a 2-man advantage, but can't remember) and miss at least 6 or so glorious chances at the doorstep due in large part to the unfrozen pucks hopping like crazy over their sticks. To the contrary, we get all the "lucky" bounces (I wonder why?) and win going away 5-2.
After the games, the managers, trainers and coaches were always the last to leave. After the players were gone on that particular night, I went into Bernie and said, "Coach, given that we won, I can now make a big confession" and told him of my error.
After a brief but stern and well-deserved lecture, he starts laughing and says, "Brian, I've got an ever bigger confession to make -"Snooks" was going for 499, not 500, and I messed up as well." He never informed me if he told the players after the game, but I'm certain he did. Confessions made, he then drove me to my dorm (as he always did - what a heart of gold he had!) and we laughed the whole way there.
I hope the above brings some good laughs to everybody who reads it. We better not put this on USCHO, because the BC fans will be all over me!!
Go Saints!

Vic Congratulations to your daughter!!!!
Brian, GREAT STORY! I read that at the Saints board, reread it here and can't help laughing all over again.
Hey, the Saints may not have scored much last Knight, but they put fear into the hearts of Knight fans in the second, it seemed like Appleton was about to happen again, thank god for Walsh.
Brian, I have enjoyed all your stories. As for Clarkson and SLU fans not liking each other, I guess there are some that the dislike runs pretty deep (I can think of 2 right now :) ) but all and all most of the Saints fans I've chatted with on the internet I've found friendly and respectful and I've certainly enjoyed their company on the net during the games. It's a great rivalry between 2 great schools but most of the people I've met seem to take it for what it is, a game that entertains us and keeps us connected to the schools and nothing more.

Vicb and Pete - I'm glad you enjoyed the story. I think we know who the two fans are that take this far more seriously than they should. Oops, I mean 'three", because the SLU guy goes by two different names IMO.
If the Knights win this thing it'll be a long day at work on Mon. as many of my co-workers and friends are Clarkson grads and l'm the only SLU grad in the place. Just my luck! Here's to a great game tonight - may the better team win.

Does this hardcore SLU fan you refer to happen to either a) be about 50 with glasses and a constant mean look, b) often where a harley shirt, heavy set, scary looking guy, or c) have longish ratty blond hair down to about his shoulders? These three ripped down a bunch of our signs last night and asked a couple of friends and I if we wanted to "take it outside." Sure we were being a little obnoxious, but seriously, we didnt cross any lines. What a bunch of idiots those guys are. It was actually rather amusing because one of the signs they pulled down was covered with vaseline.

Good solid effort by Clarkson with no second period let down. SLU, unlike many other teams did not get chippy or cheap late in the game, very nice to see. The goal late in the first seemed to really demoralize SLU, they had been building some momentum to that point.
WOW is all I can say. Never in my wildest dreams did I see us winning this game by 6-1. Quite a knight for me. The knights win and advance to Lake Placid and my daughter won a $1000 scholarship from the Baltimore Ad Association for her outstanding school work in graphic design. She was one of 6 winners, 2 got $1000 and 4 got $500. Her mom and I are proud.
Brian, thanks for your classy handling of the defeat. Certainly show a lot more class that Got6 does in the USCHO ECAC Scores Thread. If you want to see the rants of a truly pathetic individual, go read them. I thinks the Saints have a lot of talent coming back and coming in next year and I expect to see another great series in the North Country. Now we have to figure out how to get those 2 wins in Placid. It certainly will be tough.

i'll pass on reading the rantings on USCHO... I really don't enjoy the spew that comes from a few individuals over there. It ruins it for the rest of the fans who enjoy hockey and enjoy having a forum to discuss it on.

Thanks Vic and Pete to your posts on the Skating Saints web site.Appreciate your kind words and good luck the rest of the way,And to Goldie the SLUziers will be back---Didn't see you around much the last couple of years???????
The ECAC Playoff Contest Thread in the USCHO Community Forum is ready for the Lake Placid Picks. You have until 7PM Thursday Knight to get those picks in.

Wow indeed Vic...and congrats to your daughter and her proud parents!
Was out toknight myself but did catch the scores watching the end of the game at lynah at my buddy's. Congrats to the team on what sounds like a great effort. Lets keep it going in LP!
Thanks Brian. As for Got 6, I think his true colors have come out this weekend. Too bad none of that class and graciousness of Joe's has rubbed off on him. He should be looking in the mirror when talking about "whining"!
Vic, looks like you and I are in the same boat according to him. Nice to be in good company...:)
At least GOt 6 said that you two have an excuse, apparently I have "private issues" according to him. Probably a good thing since it just means he doesn't like me.

Pete,
I wouldn't lose any sleep over it...:D
I hope I can speak for Vic when I say we're happy to be included with ya!
"Issues????" That's funny...good ol' "Got 6" apparently never looks in the mirror!

I would like to mention how pleased Clarkson fans were with the conduct of the SLU hockey team. One could tell how well coached they are, as the Saints played their hearts out, still knowing that they probably wouldn't win last night's game.
Joe Marsh is a true credit to St. Lawrence University. What a class act he is. Both he and Mark, as well as the other coaches, walked through the line at the end of the game, shaking hands with the players.
Vic, I can remember several years ago when your daughter was trying to decide on her future college. Congratulations to you all on her scholarship.
Congratulations to David Evans--who scored half of Clarkson's goals last knight. What a wonderful way to end the regular season, David.
The team leaves on Wednesday for Lake Placid. Wow, will that village be rocking this coming weekend. Someone mentioned my absence from Lake Placid recently. If Clarkson does not go to Lake Placid, neither does Goldie. As a die-hard fan, I could NEVER support any team other than the Clarkson Golden Knights. If you had ever met me, then you would know that.
OUR KNIGHTS ARE ABSOLUTELY AWESOME.
No sleep lost here Rich . :D I finally had enough of that warped guy. He didn't include the "private Issues" on the scores thread, but did when he posted the same thing on another thread in the DIV 1 forum in his SLU tribute. I think PuckAv and Got 6 should form a support group together (might even be a support group of 1 :D )

Just posted the following on USCHO and wanted to add it here:
Before the playoffs began, I predicted here (i.e., USCHO) that all games played would be decided by 1-goal or 2-goals with an empty-netter, and that at least 2 of the five road teams would advance to LP. Nice prediction!
Good luck to all the teams in LP and the one or two who advance to the NCAA's. Much as it pains me to say this, I have to pull ever-so-slightly for Clarkson, as they beat my Saints and I want that trophy to remain in the NC. (end of USCHO post)
Good luck Knights - go kick some Havaad butt!
Note - it's tough to root for you guys - I remember all to well the thrashings you gave us with regularity in the 70's.

Brian whether you or any other SLU fans roots for us or against us is immaterial IMHO. We will take all the cheering anyone can give in the post season :) given our string of misfortunes :(. I know for myself all I ask for is a respectful congrats when we win (no matter how tough it is to say :) ) even if it is followed up by a "we will get you next time" :) . What really burned me about Got6 is this childish attitude:
1) My team did not win so let's not give any credit to the victors, it's the lousy referee, the Saints just stunk waah waah waah waah.
2) Because my team did not win I want all the world to know I hope this other team gets its a$$ kicked in the next round.
Yep real mature and classy. Unfortunately, there are many fans like that that root for different teams and I have no doubt that there are some on the Clarkson side also. I just don't care for that attitude, never have and never will.
As for my comments in that thread about the SLU announcers Greg and Wally I regret posting them and have apologized. I should have been more mature and not brought them into that. I have had the pleasure to listen to them a few times and they are a couple of characters. Like I said in that thread, in the chat room some of the SLU fans make comments about Greg especially and his incessant whining about the officials. They find it quite humorous and I believe they have the attitude that Greg does embellish somewhat :) .

That "Got 6" guy is a complete loser. He has now resorted to making fun of clarkson's female population because he can't get over the fact that his team sucked this year and got crushed at cheel this wknd. god, what is it gonna take to shut him up!

Probably nothing will shut him up...:D
However, I met the guy last fall at Appleton...quite by coincidence...and I doubt any Clarkson woman would give him a second look!
On the other hand, in my four years at Tech, I'm sure no Larrie female ever gave me a second look! After all, I was a poor lonely Techer! :D
I appreciate the support of any SLU fan that offers it, but if they don't, no big deal. I'm sure there are Clarkson fans who would do the same. Every team has fans of every type. I'm sure Clarkson has a few of them lurking out there. I have not met many, actually any, though with the mentality of Got 6 or PuckAv. Defending and rooting for your team is one thing but those guys are real pieces of work. As for Got 6, if he roots for or against Clarkson, I don't care in the least. He is not what I consider the usual type of SLU fan I have met. Most, and being from the North Country I know a lot of them, are nice people. You get the shots at each other back and forth and have some fun with it. It is always hard to be on the down side of a big rival match up.
Unfortunately, for the second year in a row, only one of us is going. Last year was our fault, this year SLU's fault -- we should've beaten # 10 last year and they should've finished higher than #9 this year...... On the other hand, I'm sure glad it's us this year and that we finally got our act together vs SLU. The games this weekend were almost perfect -- 5 out of 6 periods were textbook and Mike saved our arses in the 2nd period of Friday's game.......
Is it too much to hope for to win 2 this weekend??? With everyone back and the work effort, stellar goalkeeping and lack of stupid penalties apparent, we can go!!!!!
LGT! LGT!! LGT!!!

This weekend's two victories against St. Lawrence were definitely morale builders to the Golden Knights. Regardless of the fact that Cornell feels the large ice surface at the 1980 Olympic Arena will not be detrimental to their style of play, I wonder how they expect Stephen Babe, for example, to have greater endurance than Jay Latulippe or Trevor Edwards? Except for two empty-net goals, Cornell only defeated us by one goal in both games this season. I, for one, and probably many others, feel confident that Clarkson will give Cornell all they can handle.......and that is assuming we defeat Harvard and no one defeats Cornell until we have our final chance.
I am aware that each of the five divisions will send their tournament champion to the NCAAs. That leaves seven other teams eligible to be chosen, and three of the top fifteen teams in the USCHO rankings, Alaska-Fairbanks, Western Michigan, and Northeastern have already been eliminated from semi-final tournament action.
Do you think that the ECAC could send two teams to the regionals?
The Golden Knights are peaking at the perfect time, although this season, it is later than usual. They are playing excellent hockey, and finally they have confidence in themselves. For most of this season, the team has had someone injured. At long last, all of the Golden Knights are healthy. Clarkson fans know that it has been way too long since we have been able to enjoy the ECAC Tournament in beautiful Lake Placid.
OUR KNIGHTS ARE ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!

Add another top 15 team to the upset list. Nebraska-Omaha was upset by Notre Dame last night.

As a proud Clarkson female, I'm just curious what this guy said about us. I am getting a good laugh out of it. I may not be a babe or rich(or have a car), but at least I can design a parking lot!
*LOL* LGT!! woooo!

VicB - Thanks for setting the record straight. My note was inappropriate and immature - just some bad memories of what much better teams most years have done to SLU. 102-50-7 comes to mind.
As for the Knights, I want the trophy to end up in the NC for the 4th straight year. With all the players finally healthy and 4 straight wins heading to LP, I think the Knights will win it all in LP and will be rooting for that to happen.
I hope Friday's games are being televised on NESN and/or Prime? If not, I'll be listening via the Clarkson feed and be in the ECAC CR.
Go Knights - Keep it in the NC.

He didn't say anything worth quoting, just a couple of childish comments about Tech women eating dog food. Worth a laugh and nothing more.
Besides, Petal...you can proudly say that you know Craiger...and he can't! :D

Anytime Petal...there's something very appealing about a passionate lady hockey fans...and a Techer to boot! :D
I am missing LP this year unfortunately. Our twins couldbe arriving any moment, so this year, my wife did not think it would be wise to go. I told her they have hospitals there if needed, but it didn't fly:D
I will be listening and/or watching though if the situation permits.

Pete,
We will be rooting for your twins to arrive at the exact moment that Tech scores the title winning goal! :D
Congrats and all the best!
Thanks Rich, looks like it is girls. Maybe by the time they are old enough, Clarkson will have an official Varsity girls hockey team they can star on.:D

Dang,
Bad timing there! Good luck with the twins! God Bless You! When we were in LP in '99 my wife was 7 months pregnant with my 1st and we sat right in front of the pep band. That kid is almost as obsessed with clarkson hockey as I am (see the future knight thread):p . And this past year we travelled all the way to Maine when she was 8 months pregnant with our second, and I had to keep telling her that they had hospitals in orono too:) .
We'll all be in LP this weekend with no more on the way... for now:eek: .
Hope to see you there Rich. I don't have my seat #'s with me, but if you are going lemme know and I'll tell you where we're sitting.

Heard a rumor when I was up for the Dartmouth game that there may be a varsity women's team soon, thanks partly to Title IX. So maybe the twins could indeed star on the Lady Knights.
Hey, maybe my ten-month-old daughter can be on the same line!

Great! We need more posters of course...and you know what they say about records....MAde to be broken.
And it will be if we can beat Harvard and then face cornell in the finals.
We have a good recent history against the Crimson on the playoffs...lets keep that streak intact!
I think the only way we can go past Placid is to win it all.... If we don't, I don't think we go. If anyone other than Cornell wins, ECAC MAY get 2 in.... If Cornell wins..... only one methinks. JTW is the expert on the selection criteria.... his model will probably give the answer.....
I believe the tournament really needs to go up to 16, now that they've made the 5 league tournament winners automatic.....

I'm not too sure but I think that Clarkson can (with help) spoil Cornell's bid. Cornell is real close in the PWR with Col. Col. and one of the comparisons is record v. common opponents and clarkson is a common opponent. Right now Col. Col. and Corn. are tied in this comparison and with a lose to Tech it would give Col. Col. another comparison point also it would affect another comparison - record in last 16 games. So I think with a couple of upsets in other tourny's and if Clarkson faces Cornell this weekend and wins Cornell can be out. On the other hand Cornell has a chance to end up with a first round bye. Anyway I'd like to see ECAC with 2 teams in the NCAA , but cornell has spoiled clarkson's playoffs so many times in the past it might be a small payback if we could knock them out.
