View Full Version : Colgate - Cornell Round 2
Well here's hoping round 2 can be a bit better that round 1. Maybe Karpo can stand on his head again and the offense can somehow score a few more goals. LGT.

Does anybody have an injury report for this weekend?
To the CU players: Go out, relax, play hard, have fun and KICK some Red Raider and Big Red (Is there are weaker, more lame nickname in all of college sports than Big Red? I don't thinks so.) BEHIND!!
GO KNIGHTS!!!
Play hard and good things will happen!!!!

:It is easy to throw in the towel on the season .... harder to try and stay positive and support the team - which is what i am opting to do! No one is more frustrated than the players! Not sure why we cannot score - we need some offensive fire. The defense tonight was not good.... hopefully that will pick up when Himelson & Reed are back! Let's just hope they can salvage something from this season. LGT!:lgt:

I blame WCKN. :p Hey, we can only do what we can do, which is root for our team. A win against #8 Cornell at Lynah is a tall order but here's hoping that our boys go out there and outwork them all night. :lgt:

I am confident our guys will come out and play strong all game with good results. Cornell is way over due to be upset and we are way over do for a win. I just read on the Cornell site that the game is sold out (the game against SLU was not). Clarkson can still draw the fans!
GO KNIGHTS!!!!

Actually the game against SLU was sold out, just not on Thursday. But it shouldn't be any surprise. Does SLU ever travel with fans? You guys always do better, that's one reason why I'm not happy with the move of the ECACs to Atlantic City. How long will it take you to get there?

I travel for CCT and live only 2 hours from AC. ;) The student or townie would take 8 hours (in good weather). We need to get things turned around before we worry about that though.
Clarkson at Cornell sold out?
Theory A
Tickets were bought in preseason with thoughts that these are usually good games, or,
Theory B
Cornell fans bought tix late and are licking their chops as the sacrificial lamb is getting prepped for the altar.

I am going with A. I look for our guys to come out toknight w/ a much stronger effort and it will be a good game, hopefully an upset.

Anyone who wants to take a break from CU hockey, check out the #1 ranked D-III Oswego Lakers take on their North Country Rivals the #4 Plattsburgh Cardinals
Oswego has the same colours as the the golden knights so you can pretend they are beating up SLU :-)

Wow, I am amazed at how much I like this feed. A good clear feed of the game, with a chat window! This is perfect. Why cant Clarkson do something like this?

Like many of you, I'll stay with the Knights come Hell or high water, but I'm depressed as all get out :( Does anyone recall the last time we were dead last in the league?

Partway through the season last year?
Yeah, this is a pretty tough string of games for a fan, but at least we don't seem to go down effortlessly. There can be complaining, but at this point we (the fans) just need to show up and see what happens. At the very least, games at Cheel represent a chance to watch hockey. Ultimately, that's bigger than just this and last seasons.
Recall: these things are cyclic. While it may seem that we're now in a tough spot, this may open the door for someone else to come in. College sports have this weird thing where sometimes a low point for a team will attract a high-caliber player who wants to dominate all the play time. That kind of idea paired with the increased performance from the freshmen and sophomores this year makes me still look forward to the next few years. It stings now, but we'll be back soon enough. If I remember, George Roll's first 3 years weren't exceptional... but somehow things got turned around.

Clarkson worst year since 1961/1962 was 73-74 when they went 12-14-1. Now last year they became the most anemic team since 61-62 with a 10-19-7 So this year they have a excellent chance at finishing worst then that. They now have 5 Wins. If we can put a win streak together we can beat last years win total and more importantly George Roll has a chance of going back over 500 again, early next year. These are the worst two years in a row in the schools history.

My senior year. UGH!!!!! This year. UGH UGH UGH UGH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I did not get to listen to toknights game. I am surprized we did score 3 on Cornell. If we could have held Cornell 0-7 on the PP we win 3-2 or a couple of power play goals and it's a 5-5 tie. Just seems this team does just enough in some facet of the game to lose it. Still a few weeks left to get a few victories and get set for the post season. LGT

Vic, we scored 3 but it was in no way due to our offense being better. Two of the 3 goals were shorthanded breakaways that Scrivens couldn't stop.
If anyone remembers DABDA from general psychology 151, I'm somewhere between depression and acceptance.

Being down 4-1 to Cornell and then scoring 2 short handed, the last putting us to 5-3 with almost 18 minutes remaining is still impressive and shows the effort is still there. One of these days thier continued effort and hard work will pay off. Lets hope that its start next weekend (Union-RPI).
These guys will turn things around.
Just in case it will make anyone feel better CCT went 0-6 in the 24-25 season and 0-7 in 43-44.

There are 58 teams that play D-1 mens ice hockey. Here are the bottom 5 in terms of winning %:
54 - Clarkson, 5-18-3 = 0.250
55 - Bowling Green, 4-18-4, 0.231
56 - Connecticut, 4-20-3, 0.204
57 - Michigan Tech, 4-21-1, 0.173
58 - American International, 3-19-2, 0.167
No where to go (well, almost) but up.

Guys, do you have to remind me of that abysmal '73-'74 season? Like Vic, it was my senior year and I also was the stat guy for that team.
It was no picnic, that's for sure.
Bad enough that I'm depressed. Reliving those memories only makes it worse.
Here's another thought. Bad teams often come close but usually find a way to lose, as Vic said. Anyone recall the large number of one run games the Mets lost in their first season when they were something like 42-120?
Huge number that escapes me but we may be like them.
Hopefully RPI can inspire our team to snap out of this losing streak!!!

Hopefully RPI can inspire our team to snap out of this losing streak!!! With RPI's 1985 team team being honored? They are supposed to be inspiring us. :D

IIRC '61-'62 record was 22-3-1, finishing 2nd to Michigan Tech in the national championship game at the Utica War Memorial, after beating Michigan, captained by Mr. Berensen in the semis. And I do recall it pretty well, because I was there.........
and Berensen remembers too, because he mentioned it at the press conference after winning the NC at Cincinnati in '96.
BTW, CCT did not win 1 game in '24/'25 - I wasn't there then!!!
