Wallowing in the bottom of the league. As Vic said, the combined record of CCT, HU and DC is 1-12-1, and the only win in the mix is Harvard over Dartmouth. While Clarkson was picked to finish low in the standings, Harvard and Dartmouth were supposed to battle for first round byes. Sure there's a long way to go, but....
Ah, who wants to go to Atlantic City, anyway?
This team has no confidence in each other, everyone looking around for someone else to get it going. Laveau was still thinking of the first goal when he let in the second goal. You could actually see the teams shoulders sag, the body language coming through loud and clear, we were done.
Can't wait for next week.

You're not kidding Drew, the body language is horrible. They didn't even play great in the first period but DeFazio's goal could have been a good source of momentum going into the second. The second Union goal was deflating and they went right back into their shells, not one hard hit or one hard skating effort to get to a puck the rest of the game.
I don't often get on the coach because they know volumes more about hockey than I do. However, not pulling Laveau after the second goal or at least calling a timeout was a glaring error. It's not like you have Ken Dryden out there who gave up a couple of bad ones.
No confidence = losses. While we may not have the talent this year to beat Yale, Princeton, and Cornell, we shouldn't be losing games and not showing up against the rest of the league.

Anyone going to the Dartmouth game tomorrow knight? I grew up right around there so I'm going home to see the game. Not usually too many Clarkson fans there besides the band. I can recommend places to sleep, eat, etc though if you are going to be there.

Have a great time at the game, hopefully you will bring some luck. I'm half considering a trip to Harvard (the only ECAC arena I have not visited) on Saturday. I have a ton of friends in Boston, so it could be a good overnight trip.

Hah! I'm actually living in Boston now but I'm going to miss that game. One of my fellow bonesaw brigadiers somehow managed to schedule his wedding for that day (he lives near Boston as well) so we'll both be missing it. His name's Jeremy Herman, who you may have met or spoken to if you corresponded with any of the bonesaw people in the past. He did the write-ups for bonesaw.org while we were still in school.
I'm hoping to be at the BC game if I can make it back to Boston in time the following weekend.
WHOOO WHOOO
THE GOOD
KARPO KARPO KARPO 35 saves, many of the unbelieveable type
Oakley, DeFazio and Borowiecki with the goals
Coming back to win for the first time this year after trailing at the end of period 2.
THE NOT SO GOOD
Oakley hurt at the end of period 1 and did not return. Probably out until 2nd semester at the earliest.
The dreaded 2nd period outscored again 1-0 this time
0 for the PP again including a missed 5 on 3 opportunity
On to Bahsten and Hahvad tomorrow knight. LGT

Got there 5 mins late to find it already 1-1. Boy was it nice to leave there with a win finally. There's no question Karpowich is the hero toknight. He was phenomenal. Except for him, though, I thought our team played rather poorly. It seemed like we were beaten to every loose puck and that Dartmouth had the extra effort on almost every play. But it's pretty clear that Dartmouth's team is baaaaaaaad. We took more brutal, unnecessary penalties, we were generally outplayed and yet we still managed a win. Thank you Karpowich. Let's keep the streak going against Hahvahd tomorrow.

Come on, Tech! Finally a win. It would be nice to not be DFL again for the contest this week! :)

I didn't watch or listen to tonight's game, but from everything I have heard it sounds like Karp was the hero, think we'll see him again tonight?

Roll usually goes with the hot hand and Karpo was that and more last knight. No way he does not start toknight.

Really??? Roll came right out and said after the SLU game it was the best game he had seen Karp play and then started LaVeau the next game.
After the Union debacle though, I hope the only ice LaVeau see's during a game is the ice in Karpowich's water bottle when he is refilling it for him!
Sometimes a team gets a tie or win when they don't deserve it. This was one of those games.
THE GOOD
KARPO KARPO KARPO 41 saves on 43 Hahvad shots
Reufenach gets goal #1 with 3:51 to go in the third
Beca ties the game with 3:20 to go.
3 points this weekend in League play
THE NOT SO GOOD
Getting totally outplayed for the first 56 minutes.
Outshot 29-7 in the first 2 periods despite having 6 Power Plays
0-7 on the PP against one of the worst PK teams in the Nation :(
Outshot 43 to 20 for the game.
Tamblyn misses the winning goal in OT shooting wide from right in front
According to Coach Roll, there were too many passengers toknight. If not for Karpo it would have been 6 or 7 to zip after 2. He was not pleased.

Interesting Stats
The line of Biega - Leblanc - Killorn had 19 shots.
The three Biegas had 17.
Clarkson had 20.

Many of you may not realize Harvard is a very talented team and even though they may be one of the worst PK teams in the nation, it's probably more attributed to not having played many games yet and a slow start. PP means nothing if we don't bury chances, which they had at times in this game (even though it didn't feel like it for the 50 some minutes). Tamblyn missing the net by inches in O/T says it all as for the chances.
Thought #55 and #4 were fairly solid for the Knights this weekend defensively. Hey we'll take the 3/4 points possible this weekend and stop the winless streak bleeding on the road! :lgt:LGT!

First a few comments from Gary Mikel's post-game interview with Coach Roll....most of which are paraphrased. A tie does not feel very good...the coach was disappointed with the first two periods of play. He felt a lot of Clarkson players did not compete very well.

My own personal thoughts are the Golden Knights were fortunate in accumulating three points this weekend. They are currently in tenth place in the ECAC standings with those three points.
A huge amount of credit goes to Paul Karpowich, who during the games against Dartmouth and Harvard oftentimes carried the Golden Knights on his shoulders. Paul was given first star status for both games.
Another thing that impressed me was the fact that the Golden Knights continued to fight back against Harvard in the third period, even though they were absolutely unproductive during the first two periods of the game.
Here are our heroes and their helpers:
1. Bryan Rufenach scored Clarkson's first goal with less than four minutes remaining in the third period. Mark Borowiecki and Scott Freeman each received assists on Bryan's goal.
2. The ever dangerous Matt Beca scored the tying goal just 32 seconds later, with Mark Borowiecki and Tim Marks earning assists.
In the overtime period, a Golden Knight was given a slashing penalty, and believe it or not, Harvard was unable to score during that two minutes. The one sad point I recall occurred when Corey Tamblyn's shot missed the net near the end of the overtime period, but Corey had had an outstanding knight in the face-off department.
Taking three out of four points on the road is an accomplishment for any team. Hopefully, this will be a turning point for the Golden Knights's season.
