I just began listening to Bob Ahlfeld's radio broadcast. There are about 8 minutes remaining in the first period....the game is scoreless at the present time. Bob mentioned that Clarkson was lucky that Michigan State had not scored.
Scott Freeman took a nice shot on goal. The action changed to the other end, and Brandon DeFazio took a penalty for interference. This is Michigan's second power play opportunity this first period.

Darn it, Michigan State just scored, and Paul had no chance to make the save.
The score is Michigan 1 and Clarkson 0
Beca ties it on a PP goal! score 1-1 end of 1st.

A penalty is called against Michigan State.
Scott Freeman and Brandon DeFazio skate with the puck but cannot put the puck into the net. So they try again to score.

The third period is underway, and Michigan State is ahead by a score of 6 ~ 1.
I am going to take a break and cheer for the Minnesota Twins and after that the Boston Red Sox.:)
Weird stat of the night: This is Clarkson's worst season opening loss since a 9-1 defeat to Michigan State in the 1953-54 season.
