View Full Version : Clarkson Women 2009-10
WHOOOOOOO WHOOOOOOO
Congrats to the Lady Knights on their exhibition win toknight 7-3. I only saw the last 5 min of the 2nd and 3rd periods but they looked solid.
The Good
Transfer Dominique Thibault with an awsome debut; 2 goals
Brittany Selina with another stellar effort
Juana Baribeau with a highlite reel goal (a bullet over the goalie's shoulder into the upper far corner of the net.
The Not So Good
Plenty of penalties in the third.
Keep up the great work Ladies.
Total first period domination by the Lady Knights.
End of 1 Clarkson 3 BC 0.
Lavoie, Thibeault and Boudreau with the goals.
Hope they can keep it up. LGT
BC comes out much stronger in the 2nd but the Knights hold on and get the only goal of the period by Waldie using the dman as a screen and then a beautiful wrist shot over the goalies glove into the upper corner of the net. End of 2: Clarkson 4 BC 0.

thanks for the updates vic. LET'S GO LADY KNIGHTS!
WHOOOOO WHOOOOO
Congrats to the Lady Knights on a really strong showing against the supposely #6 Team in the Nation.
The Good
Goals, Goals, Goals, Goals, Goals
Lavioe, Thibeault, Boudreau, Waldie and Baribeau
Waldies was a great goal and Baribeaus was an absolute rocket from in the slot.
What a great defensive game especially from Eusepi and Wood
Dahm was solid but had very little work in the nets.
The Not So Good
Dahm losing her shut out on a fluttering puck that went in over her shoulder.
The lack of crowd at the arena. The Pep Band was there and the Collin's were there. Not many other people from what I could tell. It is a real shame because this womens team hustles their buns off and really puts on an entertaining show.
I must say Dominique Thibeault is just a spectacular player. It is a shame that she will only don the Green and Gold for one season. Who knows, if the team keeps on playing like they played toknight, this could be one memorable season. Keep it up tomorrow afternoon Ladies. LGT.

That was one of the larger crowds I have ever seen at a women's game. I guess maybe the WCKN crew didn't capture that very well. I would probably rank it in the top 10 over the last 4 years crowd wise.

Right. The number I saw quoted for tonight was close to 500, ranking much higher than the ~150 they usually get.

Except for when the cameras were turned on the pep band, I saw nothing but empty chairs with a few fans sprinkled here and there.
According to USCHO and the Clarkson Athletics game summary, the attendance was 480 in a 3000 seat arena. This was the 2nd largest crowd in all of womens college hockey last knight (Syr at Minn had over 900). While this is one of the largest crowds, the players and coaches deserve much greater support from the student body and from the town. I cannot say enough about how much the team hustled last night and a few times even threw their bodies down to block shots. Loved every minute of it. LGT.

I must say Dominique Thibeault is just a spectacular player. It is a shame that she will only don the Green and Gold for one season.
Great to see Clarkson pick up a player of her caliber. Sad that the team in my back yard (15 miles away, can see the campus from my back yard) had to lose her.
Transferring as a senior is highly unusual. What was up with that? Anyone know?
WHOOO WHOOO
Congrats to the ladies on a hard fought 3-2 win over Providence from Hockey Least.
THE GOOD
Juana Baribeau with just 2 great goal scorers goals including the winner in OT. WOW :)
Daris Tendler had the 1st Goal
Lauren Dahm played well in the nets
THE NOT SO GOOD
Carli Eusepi left in the 2nd period with some type of injury. Hope it was not serious.
Providence gave the Knights all they could handle. Much tougher team than BC last week. ANd UConn comes in this afternoon fresh off a win over SLU. LGT
WHOOOO WHOOOO
A 4 Point Weekend for the Ladies.
The Good
Lauren Dahm with the shutout
Waldie (2), Selina and Thiebault the goal scorers
I really like the defensive play of freshman Hailey Wood :)
The Not So Good
Eusepi has a concussion and did not play.
Keep up the great start Ladies :) . LGT

Then I looked up the poll and said "Holy $H!t!!"
Ladies, you're doing very well. Now is the time for the students to start putting their fannies in the seats and support the Lady Knights.
Somehow there is a TV commercial here: "We're no longer the Ladies in Waiting, we're the Lady KNIGHTS!!!"

The Good
Dahm with the shut out
The Not So Good
B2 Broadcast. No announcers and camera was so far away from play you could not tell who scored.
Thought the team let Vermont control too much of the play in the 2nd and 3rd periods. Lucky they had no goal scorers.

Melissa Waldie (5) (Dominique Thibault)
Juana Baribeau (4) (Genevieve Lavoie)
Britney Selina (2) (Dominique Thibault, Melissa Waldie)
Juana Baribeau (5) (Daris Tendler)
There ya go vic. :)
Well things are not looking good for the women. Scored the first goal of the game in the opening couple of minutes and it has been all Vermont since then. The Lady Catamounts have totally outplayed the Lady Knights. Combine that with a whole host of penalties, Vermont has scored 3 in period 2 to take a 3-1 lead. If the knights go on to lose this one the dagger was Thiebault missing on a breakaway with the Knights 2 men down and trailing 2-1. Vermont comes back down the ice and scores on the subsequent 5 on 3. The women look totally out of kilter. Poor passing, poor judgement, you name it. Vermont so far deserves a win in this one. Period 3 about to start. Man it sucks to watch this with no announcers.
Well, the Lady Knights just flat got outplayed. Empty net goal by Vermont finished the scoring. See previous post for periods 1 and 2. Period 3 was much better in terms of effort but Vermonts defense and goalie were solid.
THE GOOD
At least they did not get shutout
THE NOT SO GOOD
Maybe #4 in the country went to their heads a little bit.
Poor passing, Sloppy play, too many penalties.
Big weekend coming up with UNH and BU visiting Cheel. Play like they played today and there will be 2 more losses.
Some unofficial information on womens recruiting from USCHO:

What a beat down.
THE GOOD
Goals coming in bunches, Mulligan, Waldie, Thibeault (2), Baribeau, Schroder, Eusepi
Dahm with some great saves, especially in Period 3
Any win over a BU team is great.
THE NOT SO GOOD
It sucks to BU ;) .
The lack of a crowd at the game. These kids deserve a lot better from the student body and community.
So, can the women keep up the momentum in the league opener against SLU on Tuesday Knight? And will they be #3 in the Country on Monday? LGT.

Great video, Vic.
I guess that we are a couple of the guilty ones. We were in Potsdam this weekend but never saw a game. We had a good excuse, but still ....
Gotta think that a number three ranking is assured. That loss at UVM was the best thing that could have happened to them.
The attendance problem should start to resolve itself. When the UConn women's BB team started winning it took awhile for the fans to start really coming out. The students have got to come out first, then the townspeople will follow.

I'd have to say we're going to move up to #3. UHN tied (t) so that's an 0-1-1 weekend for them. Both Minnesota and Mercyhurst handled their opponents easily. I don't think it will happen, but I'd like to see just 1 #1 vote for our ladies.
(t) has a good team and ECAC play will start abruptly on Tuesday. No more beating up on HEA teams that are IMO greatly overrated.
How great is the schedule this year though. We'll be playing Minny and Mercyhurst this fall, so they'll have their chance to beat the best.

4-1 Clarkson over Saints with 2 late empty-netters. Good defensive effort by the Saints kept us bottled up from what I saw, but a win is a win.
WHOOOO WHOOOO
Well in the span of 3 days Clarkson defeats SLU by the same score of 4-1. This time it's the womens turn.
THE GOOD
Goals by Kosziwka and Gillanders (their first of the year) and Thiebault with 2 open net goals at the end.
Dahm solid in the nets.
Defense played really well and blocked a ton of shots and did a great job of clearing the puck from out front.
THE NOT SO GOOD
B2 feed had the SLU announcers instead of Bob and Gary (who I could hear in the background).
Clarkson did not get a shot on goal for the first 10 min of the game but what a great one the first was (Kosziwka's goal).
Was hoping to see a full house at Cheel. Am interested in seeing what the attendance was.
SLU pulling their goalie with 3.48 to go in the game and only losing 2-1.
This game was a lot closer than the score indicates. SLU has a good team and gave the Knights all they could handle. Gonna be tough going to Appleton later in the year. Congrats to the Ladys and keep battling and playing hard this weekend against Brown and Yale. LGT

Hi Vic,
Thanks for letting me know this weekend's games at Minnesota Duluth begin at 8:05 Eastern time.
In answer to your question about attendance at toknight's game between the Golden Knights and the SLUzers, college hockey stats indicate there were 707 people at Cheel Arena.
OUR KNIGHTS ARE AWESOME, AND THEN SOME!

Minnesota and Mercyhurst both lost a game this weekend. Any chance we will see the Lady Knights at #1 next week?
Might be a chance. Clarkson wins 2, Minny loses 2 and Mercyhurst splits 2 so there is a good chance that the Lady Knights will get some 1st place votes. Quite frankly, I would rather the ladies did not have that bullseye on their backs. The next 2 weekends are gonna tell a lot about the status of this team. Away at Hahvad and Dartmouth this weekend and then away at Cornell and Colgate. Gonna take a tremendous effort to go 4-0-0. LGT.

I'd guess No. 2.

Obviously the poll is out already, but wasn't this the first time the SLU game was factored in? That would make us 3-0-0 since the previous poll.
It was factored in, but Mercyhurst now has one blemish on it's record, to the No. 5 team in the nation. Clarkson has two. Even with three wins they were not going to jump over 2 teams, including one team that lost to a program with several national championships.
This weekend will be a huge test for the team, playing on the road at Harvard and Dartmouth, and unlike past Olympic years, those teams have not had all their top players yanked off the roster by national teams.

Definitely quite the road test this weekend. If they play anything like they did last weekend, they should be in good shape. Despite not putting the biscuit in the basket as frequently as you would like, they dominated both teams on the ice for 60 minutes.

First of all, congrats to the players and coaching staff on this achievement of getting 5 1st place votes and being judged the 2nd best team in the USof A. As for being in good shape, I do not care how you dominate a team on the ice, the only thing that matters is that you score more goals than your opponent. As the competition gets stiffer (read Dartmouth and Hahvad), 1 or 2 goals may not be sufficient to beat these teams. I'd love to see this team get back to scoring 4 to 6 goals per game (as I am sure the players and coaches would whole heartedly agree). A HUGE WEEKEND on the road. LGT.

THE NOT SO GOOD
Having to endure another Mens team loss.
Next up on the road at Colgate and Cornell. The wins coupled with Mercyhursts wins should keep the Knights #2 in the Nation come Monday.
The women remain the #2 team in the nation and will have a show down with #7 Cornell this weekend. LGT
And how about this: Carlee Eusepi became the latest Clarkson University Women’s Hockey standout to earn honors this season when she was selected as ECAC Hockey’s Player of the Week. Clarkson has claimed the first six ECAC Player of the Week awards with five different Golden Knights gaining the honor. WOW
What a schedule!! After Cornell, they face Minnesota and eventually face off against Mercyhurst......could very well be a special year for the Lady Knights. Let's bottle whatever they are drinking and give it to the boys!;)
I could use a shot too. :D
UGH. Friday the 13th
Cornell scores two 3rd period goals and women lose 2-0
WHOOOO WHOOOO
After running into a hot goalie last knight in Ithaca, the scoring touch returns today
THE GOOD
Thiebault (2), Lavoie, Baribeau with the goals
Dahm in the nets
THE NOT SO GOOD
CCT takes their only 2 penalties of the game with about 4 minutes remaining and Colgate scores on the 5 on 3.
Well, will probably not be #2 in the Country on Monday but all in all at 12-2-1 and on top of the ECAC Standings (thanks to SLU beating Cornell 3-2) not too shabby.

Did you watch the game vic? The Knights had some great scoring chances in the first period and played pretty well with the Golden Rodents. One goal was an outstanding individual play and the other was a freak own goal.
Once the second period started, the Rodents closed the hatches. They played strong against the boards and only allowed the Knights to get shots from 30+ feet or at bad angles. The ladies had maybe 2 quality scoring opportunities in the final 40 minutes. I had read in the Minnesota thread that they had strong team defense; they definitely showed it today.
Well, 2 losses is tough but it's a learning experience. I don't necessarily think the ladies were outtalented or outworked but maybe were a bit unprepared. Playing this sort of competition will make the ladies better ... I'd expect we'll see a stronger team in Erie next month.

Last game for the year. Next games are in January at Union and RPI to begin a 6 game road trip.
Rest up and study for those exams.
Now here's a thread that I've been meaning to comment on.
Great to see a pair of home wins after that disappointing trip to Minnesota. I blame the large ice giving the Gophers a bit better of a home ice advantage. It was cool to be able to see the game live on saturday as the featured USCHO game of the week. If we see them again this season I think we will give them an honest run for their money....as long as the ice isn't olympic size.
As for the rest of the season, I'm happy to see Cheel be such an intimidating place for visiting teams to play. Our women are still undefeated there so far this season (knock on wood) and I think a large part of that is the fan base we have for our lady knights - more than you see in any other ECAC rink - and I'm damn proud of that.
The weekend against Mercyhurst will be huge for the second semester. However I have stronger faith in success there since we have played them before - and beaten them before. Bring on 2010, baby.

JFK, were you looking at the size of Mariucci arena, where their men's team plays, over looking at Ritter, where their girls team plays? Because (and I know it's a bad thing to rely on USCHO) Mariucci is an Olympic size arena, whereas Ritter is the same size as Cheel
On the other hand, it was still great to see a sweep by them this weekend. Lets hope they keep up the hard work they showed this weekend! :lgt:
And just to show you how convoluted Womens hockey can be: Minnesota shuts out Clarkson twice at home, Minnesota gets shut out twice by Harvard at Harvard, Clarkson beats Harvard at Harvard . Learning experience yes, but getting shut out in 2 games that was something I did not expect. Study, rest up and look forward to 2010.
I attended the Friday game against Quinny - wanted to see it for myself just to check'em out - great game actually - strong in the 1st & finally came on in the 3rd to win it. Quinny skaters were small but quick and impressive, but Clarkson's skill got'em in the 3rd. Sat behind Dahm's
mother and got a good rundown on the Minny debacle. Overall, I was impressed with the skating and shooting ability of the gals. Now, if they'd just let'em hit, it would be awesome to watch!!! Too bad the game was at 3:30, which has to limit the student attendance, (which was pitiful).
Thiebault named to the ECAC All Star team that will play the US Olympic team at Quinny on Jan 3rd. The game is already a sellout. Congrats
Well the tie against RPI cost the team one place in the National Polls. Now #4 behind UNH even though we cleaned their clock.
WOW, I would have liked to see this game. Way too many penalties and allowing 4 pp goals on 6 chances while only going 1/9 doomed this one. There is a reason why Mercyhurst is #1 in the nation and they showed it today. Better luck tomorrow.
In what must be a doozy of a game, Clarkson is up 5-4 on Mercyhurst early in the 3rd after trailing 1-0, 2-1, and 4-2. Am watching USCHO Womens Forum for updates. Tendler, Thiebault, Omand, Baribeau and Selina the goal scorers. If only the men could put the puck in the net like this.
Mercyhurst scores with 3:40 to go to tie it at 5-5. Game going into OT.
A good comeback after the 6-3 debacle the previous knight. Knights with 14 sec left in OT had a shot get behind the goalie but stop on the goal line according to USCHO poster. Way to go ladies. Start a new win streak next weekend.
And the loss and tie against #1 Mercyhurst propel the ladies back to #3 in the National Poll. Congrats.
WOW, the women win a barn burner in New Haven at the Whale.
The Good
Hailey Wood with the first goal
Game Tying Goal From Eusepi with 2 min left in Period 3
Game Winning Goal 17 sec into OT by Thibault
The Not So Good
Having to come back from 2 one goal deficits to win
On to Brown this afternoon at 4PM. For those with B2 accounts the game will be on the B2 network.

Here's hoping they aren't the announcers from the men's team.
It was!!! These guys are something. Gillanders brother played at CCT (he played at Colgate), Gary Mikel was the former Clarkson coach :) . God, the camera is in the upper deck and they don't know how to use the zoom.
2 minutes in and Knights go up 1-0 on a beautiful tip in by Juana Baribeau.
Rink looks tilted toward the Brown goal
End of 2: Still 1-0 Knights. Should have been 3 or 4 to zip but Browns goalie was fantastic. Knights put 19 shots on net that period and could not score on a 5 on 3 pp.
WHOOO WHOOO
THE GOOD
Baribeau, Tendler and Thibault with the goals
Dahm with a 28 save shutout
Browns goalie
THE NOT SO GOOD
Kind of a sloppy game
Officiating was awful and missed a ton of penalties (especially in period 2) on both teams.
WELCOME HOME LADIES. Finally some home cooking this coming weekend. Colgate on Friday and Cornell on Saturday. Gonna have to have a much better performance this coming weekend to win 2 more.
A Weekend SWEEP! Congrats Gals - Keep it going!!!!

Congrats to the ECAC Woman's Player of the Week, Dominique Thibault.

Baribeau Goal 1, Selina Goal 2, Baribeau with ENG
Dahm with some great saves to preserve the shutout with 25 saves
THE NOT SO GOOD
Let gate have some odd man rushes including a breakaway
Dahm did have some rebound control issues

Revenge is sweet, especially when it is Cornell.

A huge win in terms of Regular Season Standings.
Now up 4 points on Cornell
Dahm only giving up a power play goal.
Skirrow with the first goal, her first as a Golden Knight, Mulligan with the assist

More than a huge win for CCT, it's a huge loss for cornell. They are on the outside looking in in the PWR and could've used this win. Having them sitting at home come tournament time is just fine with me.
Just another weekend sweep..!!!! And finishing it toKnight vs Cornell - outstanding. This team is really impressive.
Congrats gals keep it going!!!
:lgt: :lgt: :lgt:
The women took a page out of the men's book in this one, allowing 3 first period goals. Never could quite recover. Backup goalie had to play due to Dahm being out with I think an illness. I saw the first period and I am not sure Dahm would have stopped the goals either. So time to get back on the winning track with a sweep of the Capital District. LGT
It was a costly loss as well. I just checked the PWR Rankings and they fell to No. 5 below Minnesota-Duluth, which would mean a road NCAA Quarterfinal game.

OUCH :( Well at least they are still in the mix for the NC$$ Tourney. Gotta get back in and get back to winning. More importantly they have to find the offense that scored bunchs of goals against Hockey East and the 2nd Mercyhurst game. The offense has been lacking IMHO.

I think the concerns over the PWR (while important if we suffer multiple losses) aren't really merited, as those near and above us still have games to play. Minnesota (2) and Minn.-Duluth (tied for 3rd) face off this weekend, and any result can alter the PWR. Also, UNH has to face Vermont twice again and BC and BU again. Even Mercyhurst (1) has to run into Syracuse (a surprising 11th in PWR), and we know they aren't invincible. It is far too early to claim that anyone is in or out of a top 4 spot.
That said, we can really increase our odds by continuing our league excellence. A bit of a revenge game vs. RPI tonight and a home series versus Dartmouth and Harvard (currently PWR 6th) can really help bolster our national position. I'm looking forward to this weekend's games - our team is very fun to watch.

Can't argue with any of this. I'd like to see us make a serious run in the league playoffs as well and put ourselves in good position for the NCAA's.

No joy in Potsdam this evening as the women fall to RIP. To make matters worse, Duluth beats Minnesota likely sealing our fate in a comparison with the Bulldogs. The women's PWR ranking is now #4 with a very VERY tenuous lead over UNH.
UNH will flip the RPI rating comparison this weekend simply due to a better level of competition and can also pick up 2 games in the COp comparison. That would leave their COp at 10-4-3 (.6765). Before playoff time, their COp could go up to 14-4-3 and they are likely to play more common opponents in the playoffs as CCT played most HEA teams while UNH played only a few ECAC opponents. Basically, UNH could win their way into the 4th position in the PWR regardless of what CCT does.
Basically ... beyond our ladies winning against Union tomorrow, we also need to become BU and UConn fans.

Nice win against Union last knight. Too bad about Mulligan injuring her knee. Heard she will be out as much as 5 weeks. Thibault with a bad back also. Tough games against Prinny and Quinny this weekend. LGT.
The end of this Regular Season is down to 4 games and 4 teams with a legitimate shot at winning the Regular Season title and the coveted #1 seed. Get back to why that #1 seed is super important this season.
Clarkson #1 @#7Prinny, @#5T Quinny, #8T Dartmouth and #3 Hahvad
Cornell #2 trails by 3 points@#11T Brown, @#8T Yale, #5T RPI, #11T Union
Hahvad #3 trails by 5 Points@#5T RPI, @#11T Union, @#4 SLU, @#1 Clarkson
SLU #4 trails by 6 points @#5T Quinny, @#7Prinny, #3 Hahvad, #8T Dartmouth
#5 RPI and Quinny trail by 7 and could possibly also get that seed although IMHO it is not too likely at this time
Clarkson with the injuries and illness really is gonna have a tough time holding on to #1 given the teams they have left. All of those games to me could go either way.
Cornell has only the RPI game as a potential loss and to me is in the best position to grab #1
Hahvad has to win 4 road games with only the Union game as an almost guaranteed winner.
#4 SLU really would have to have a total collapse of the top 3 to get the #1 seed.
So why is the #1 seed so important. Only 8 teams make the playoffs. You get to play the #8 team in the quarterfinals at your home ice. Not a Gimme but an advantage. Here is where it gets interesting. In the ECAC's infinite wisdom, the semi finals are played on a Friday knight at the home ice of the highest remaining seeds. So as #1 you get no higher than the #5 seed in a one game playoff, again no gimme but still advantage . Well now the winners of those games have to play SUNDAY of the same weekend at the highest remaining seeds home ice for the ECAC Championship. So if you are #1 you get to stay home instead of having to get on a bus. So imagine you are Princeton who has managed to win the quarterfinals and then the semifinal on Friday and then has to hop on a bus and travel to Clarkson on Saturday and Play on Sunday. HUGE ADVANTAGE. So LGT LGT LGT. Secure #1.
What a difference Friday Knight has made in the ECAC Womens League. The loss to Prinny was a killer for the ladies. Where oh where has the offense gone????
The end of this Regular Season is down to 3 games and probably either Clarkson or Cornell will be the Regular Season Title Holder although Hahvad, RPI or Quinny have an outside shot. SLU's loss to Quinny has doomed any chance that they can get the #1 seed.
Clarkson #1 Loses to #7 Prinny, @#3T Quinny, #8T Dartmouth and #3 Hahvad
Cornell #2 trails by 1 point Beats #11T Brown, @#8T Yale, #3T RPI, #11T Union
Hahvad #3 trails by 5 Points loses to #3T RPI, @#11T Union, @#6 SLU, @#1 Clarkson
#3 RPI trails by 5 Points Beats Hahvad, #8T Dartmouth, @ #2 Cornell, @#10T Colgate
#3 Quinny trails by 5 Points Beats #6 SLU, #1 Clarkson, #8T Yale, #11T Brown
SLU #6 trails by 6 points @#3T Quinny, @#7Prinny, #3T Hahvad, #8T Dartmouth
A MUST WIN THIS AFTERNOON AT 4PM. LGT

Apparently there were two goals waved off that were, questionable, according to someone who was there.
Well, the tie is better than the loss except we are now tied with Cornell for first place. Not sure who owns the tie breaker. Will try to find out later today or tomorrow.
If it's same as the men, Clarkson.
Head to head, they split.
The men's next tie-breaker is most wins.

This one goes to the second tiebreaker (since they're both even in the head-to-head comparison), with Clarkson holding the tiebreaker over Cornell with 14 league wins (14-4-2) versus Cornell's 12 (12-2-6).
RPI is the only team that holds the tiebreaker against us with a win and a tie.

So the women control their own destiney, win out and they get the #1 seed. Only wish the goal scoring would somehow come around to make it easier. Four teams left going for the #1 seed.
Clarkson #1: #8 Dartmouth and #3 Hahvad
Cornell #2: Tied in points with Clarkson loses tie breaker #3T RPI, #11 Union

If we win on Friday, the worst we could theoretically finish is second. We'd be ahead of Harvard/RPI by at least four points, meaning that they could not tie us (and with RPI holding the potential tiebreaker over us, a win on Friday is a very good thing).
A win and a Cornell loss on Friday will clinch the #1 seed for us- the worst we could then finish is tied for first with Cornell, with us holding the tiebreaker.
We also need Harvard to lose for NCAA placement purposes...so, basically, we need to be both SLU and RPI fans on Friday (along with Clarkson fans, of course.)
Congrats to Thiebault, Selina and Dahm for being named as candidates for the Patty Kazmaier Award (The womens Hobey Baker).
OH MY GOD. In one of the biggest collapses in ECAC history, Clarkson has now gone 1-4-1 and is no longer in first place in the ECAC and may be playing themselves out of a guaranteed NC$$ Bid. Cornell takes over first and given they play Union tomorrow, a Union team with one league win, I see no way Clarkson can now win the Regular Season Title. Just so frustrating. The early season offense has just dried up. So tomorrow a huge game against 3rd place Hahvad. Win and the team takes 2nd. Lose and it's tied with Hahvad and I don't know who get's second. LGT

Still Clarkson, going to the third tiebreaker. Clarkson would have three wins over the other teams in the top four in the league (Cornell, Harvard, and Quinny), and Harvard would have two (Clarkson and Quinny).
Of course, that's with the current standings...if Quinny loses and RPI wins tomorrow, the comparison becomes 2-1, still in favor of Clarkson. Either way, we can finish no worse than second.
And first place is still possible...Brown just got its first league win tonight, so anything's possible. :D

Oh man, I feel so terrible for the Lady Knights. They have just seemed different since the game @ SLU.
I still think they can do a ton of damage in the playoffs, but they need to start scoring consistently.
Dartmouth's defense was smothering, especially once the game was tied.
Also if season ends with these standings looking at an SLU vs. Clarkson women's series next weekend.
Well I am sure that senior weekend did not turn out the way the team wanted. They did secure 2nd place and a date with SLU in the opening round of the ECAC playoffs next wekend at Cheel with this come from behind tie.
THE GOOD
This senior class and all that they mean to this team. Dominique Thibault, Ashleigh Moorehead, Tegan Schroeder, Britney Selina, Carlee Eusepi, Genevieve Lavoie. Congrats Ladies.
A really nice ceremony at center ice for the seniors at the end of the game with gold roses, a framed picture and photographs with the coaching staff and with their parents.
Class picture including the official BONESAW from the BONESAW Brigade :) .
Waldie and Kosziwka with the first 2 goals
Thiebault with the game tieing goal in period 3
THE NOT SO GOOD

Anyway, cheer up I believe the men will see similar results this weekend.
:lgt::lgt::lgt::lgt::lgt::lgt:
A good game that I thought SLU outplayed Clarkson in periods 2 and 3. I missed period 1. Akstull, Bero and Emond of SLU were the killers for SLU. All over the ice and their speed Clarkson had no answer for. Weisz played well in the nets for SLU. Dahm was spectacular for Clarkson and was the Big Reason the game did not end up 4 or 5 to 1.
THE GOOD
Thiebault with the goal
Dahm in the nets
The Not So Good
Clarkson failing to score on 2 breakaways that Weisz really did not have do much on.

Is it just me or have we had more goals go in off our own players this year than any team in the country on both the women's and men's sides? It's almost like we did something to anger the hockey gods.
I've missed everything this weekend, thanks to Mother Nature dumping over 2 feet of heavy snow on Orange County. When I left work this morning after 48 hours, there were still streets that hadn't been touched since Thursday and entire sections of cities that were not accessible by vehicles.

I disagree. At most they should try to split up into two bands, OR it should be up to each individual band member to decide which game they would rather see. Some will choose the women, some will choose the men. I would hate to see either team not get the benefit of a band, but if I had to make the choice, I would go to the men's game myself.

Sheesh, only 25 @ Appleton! When I played in the Pi K band in the '50's & 60's, we were lucky to get 8-10 out, but we had no trouble making lots of

I agree with what Cap said. Unless you are a Big Scorer you will not get first team. The only one I would argue with is Eusepi. She is without a doubt one of the top dwomen in the leage scoring or not. I thought she deserved 1st team.

And Eusepi was voted the Best Defensive Defensewoman and Selina the Best Defensive Forward. Just a huge game for the women toknight especially for the NC$$ Tourney. Depending on how things go in Hockey East, a win toknight and an ECAC Championship might get the Knights the last home seed. In any case lets send the Crimson packing back to Cambridge. Oh man, I am so happy today.
The women continue to show that they are a fantastic team that can comeback against anyone. That was a really good hockey game, but the second period was ugly. They'll be better tomorrow.
As far as NCAA's go, I think there are still some scenarios where Clarkson falls out if they lose tomorrow, but it would required upsets in all the conference with autobids. I also think there is still a slim chance The ladies get to host a playoff series. We would need to gain .0065 points in the RPI on Harvard. I am not really in the know as far as RPI goes, but I think it might be possible. The much mose likely scenario is that Clarkson gets sent to Minnesota for the first round. If Clarkson wins tomorrow, I am pretty sure that their RPI will raise enough to flip the UNH comparison, putting CCT in the #5 seed and Harvard in the #4 seed. I believe that the committee will do what they do with men's hockey and try to avoid inter-conference match ups in the first round. If that is the case I would guess they would simply switch us out with UNH, moving us back to #6 and sending CCT to Minnesota.
It is a pretty sad system that would put Harvard ahead of Clarkson in the final seeding considering Clarkson is 2-0-1 against Harvard with wins coming both at home and on the road. Hopefully common sense will prevail and put Clarkson ahead of Harvard in the final seeding.
Of course, if Clarkson doesn't win tomorrow this is all a mute point.

WOW, that loss throws us into a 3 way tie for 6th in the PWR. My guess is Cornell will be seeded 6th since they have the tie breaker over us. Now since BU won the HE Tourney, I assume they get the last birth over UConn that is tied with us in the PWR. (I assume BU gets the birth over UConn as HE Champs), we get 7th since we hold the tie breaker over BU or UConn and UConn/BU gets 8th. So I think the women will be up at #2 Minn-Duluth for the NC$$. We find out at 7:30 toknight but I think the games will be .

Mercyhurst vs UConn/BU
UMinn Duluth vs Clarkson
Cornell vs Minny
Hahvad vs UNH
Close, but no cigar. They did choose all those schools, but in the order of:
Mercyhurst vs BU
UMinn Duluth vs UNH
Minny vs Clarkson
Harvard vs Cornell
looks like we could have been the 5 seed, yet they wanted to avoid a rematch of Friday's game.
I only wish the wife and I could afford to spring for 2 airplane tickets to Minny for the game. Hopefully we can score some goals this time out there.

Does anyone know if there will be any sort of webcast/broadcast of this game?
I am still toying with the idea of going, but damn that's a long drive!
I don't know this yet, but would guess Minnesota would have something. And you cannot charge for NCAA Tournament B2-type telecasts, because its an NCAA event.
Last year when SLU played at Mercyhurst it was on free.
Last year when SLU played at Mercyhurst it was on free.
And the capacity of Mercyhurst's rink is 3000....

Bob and Gary are going, along with two WCKN guys, so there should be an audio feed available.
I don't know about a video feed, however.

are they bringing the band too? The team needs the band to drown out that obnoxious minnesota chant

Saturday's game is USCHO's Game of the Week, which includes a live video feed. Just go to the Women's page on the site you'll find all the links.

i hope they figure out a way:)
There are two links on USCHO.com for audio and video but both are dead, anyone have anything that is working?
Here's a link for livestats that doesn't appear to be updating:
http://www.ncaa.com/gametracker/launch/gt_whockey.html?SPSID=38867&SPID=3323&DB_OEM_ID=8400&event=885408&school=ncaa&sport=whockey&camefrom=&startschool=&
Whichever media outlets are covering this game really dropped the ball on this one. 40 minutes after faceoff and no livestats updates, 2 dead links on USCHO for audio/video (Featured Game of the Week no less), no Bob and Josh and no radio or video coverage from the Minnesota side. Great job.

Maybe it's because the game is on tomorrow afternoon (Saturday) at 5PM Eastern.
Jeez, Ryan gave me a heart attack.
Cornell beat the crap out of Hahvad 6-2 to punch their ticket to Minny for the womens Frozen 4.
I'm really hoping our ladies can play like they're capable of. The talent to win it all is there, they just need to play stingy defense, stay out of the box, pile on the shots and bury the quality chances. Raty stole the last 2 games for Minny but she can be broken, as seen in the Olympics granted she didn't have a strong team in front of her.

Keep the pressure on Ladys!!

OH MY GOD. The women down 2-0 with 10 min to go in the game, Waldie gets a goal on a beautiful feed from Selina and then Juana Baribeau with a WILLIE MITCHELL ROCKET from center ice that beats the goalie top shelf over the glove to tie the game with 2 min to go. Game is going to OT. Unfortunately I have to go out so will miss the OT.

It's not dead...there's just no audio right now as they don't have another prerecorded intermission segment (though you'd think they'd give us at least ambient noise, that's better than dead air...)
Video still works fine. Audio will likely resume before the puck drop for OT.
there is no feed (audio wise) between periods now. they had canned interviews tapped before the game they ran after first and second.

Great season ladies, tough break at the end, but they sure played with a lot of heart. Take some notes, men's team!
Hold your heads high gals - great season and improvement - tough one at the end!!!
:lgt: :lgt: :lgt:
Sigh. Again another stirring comeback only to lose in OT for the 2nd straight game.
THE GOOD
Finally scoring on Minny
Juana Baribeau's Willie Mitchellesque Blast from center ice to tie the score.
The coaches and players on this team, the finest in the history of Clarkson's Women Hockey.
You showed you belonged. Great game ladies
THE NOT SO GOOD
The season ending 2 games too soon :( .
Congrats to all and to this senior class thank you and best of luck in your future lives. Can't wait for next season.

Just got word of the passing of Connie Richmond. Many of you may not have known Connie, but she was one great lady and will be missed.
Connie was Ernie's widow (he passed away a few years back) and was as passionate a Clarkson Hockey fan as he was. I'm sure that many folks on this board had met Ernie over the years. I was fortunate to have gotten to know them both quite well, having first met Ernie about 20 years ago.
They will be reuinited in Heaven.
May they both Rest In Peace.
