For some reason, I was unable to connect to the pre-game interview with Bob and George. There may have been some technical problems.

Well anyway, the lines have been changed for toknight's game at Appleton, and Paul Karpowich is the goalie of choice this evening.

Unabale to attend the game toknight, we are home listening via the radio broadcast with Bob and Josh.

Josh mentioned that the key to winning is to treat this contest like it is a serious game. Clarkson should have no trouble doing that.:)

The game is underway, and Clarkson controls the puck on the faceoff. It didn't take too long for slu to have their turn with the puck, and they shot it at Paul.

As Paul swiped the puck away, slu knocked the net off its moorings.

Shea Guthrie moved around his man and drove to the net in an attempt to score.

Oh shoot, slu scored on a simple shot, beating Paul on the blocker side.

Too bad, slu leads early in Period 1 by a score of 1 ~ 0:mad:

Clarkson now has possession of the puck...the Golden Knights are trying to tie the game. slu now has the puck, next it goes to Chris D'Alvise who shoots the puck.

Mark Borowiecki makes a good defensive move and takes the puck away from the slu player. Next slu heads up the ice.

Now the same players who scored slu's first goal scored slu's second goal. There were defensive miscues by the Knights.

Score is now slu....2 CLARKSON...0

Bryan Rufenach is signaled for a penalty.

Oh my goodness, slu just scored its third goal of this period.....how disgusting is that?

It doesn't seem that Clarkson has taken many shots on goal either.

11:38 left in Period 1

slu now has three goals....and the Golden Knights have none.

Goldie Knight

Ty Mason took a shot on goal.

Shea Guthrie has the puck, and now it goes to slu.

Julien Cayer took a shot, and it was fairly close.

Paul has three save on six shots so far this period.

slu had a three on one, but slu was called for icing the puck.

Clarkson has not really tested the slu goalie toknight.

Goldie Knight

Bryan and Scott bring the puck down the ice.

Brandon DeFazio moves across the ice and shoots the puck.

Clarkson exerts great pressure on slu....the first time toknight.

Shea Guthrie was pulled down....no call, of course.

I would like to think that the Golden Knights are playing with a little more confidence now.

3:26 remains in this discouraging Period 1.

Mark Borowiecki had a hard hit on his man.

An slu shot with a man in the crease.

Clarkson needs to clear the puck with more authority.

Phil Paquet is given a penalty.

Paul makes two saves on one slu player.

Chris D'Alvise was hit to the ice....no call again.

slu is still pressing for another goal.

Tom Pizzo was knocked down and FINALLY an slu penalty is called.

Phil Paquet is out of the penalty box.

Brandon DeFazio keeps the puck and then passes it to Julien Cayer who does shoot the puck.

One minute 15 seconds left in the CU power play for the beginning of Period 2.

Period 1 is completed with the three goals for the sluzers and no goals for the Golden Knights.:(

the B2 feed looks good, but beware of the slu commentators who are clearly not familiar with hockey and how it's played.

Goldie Knight

For some reason, slu is attempting to let the ice set....therefore, a delay in the beginning of Period 2. The delay may help Clarkson because the ice will be set. Perhaps too much water was left on the ice by the Zamboni.

I had to chuckle after reading the post from Blastbeat.....some things never change, do they? These guys have been in that position for a long time.

Clarkson will start this period on the power play....after a lengthy delay.

Matt Beca to Tim Marks..the pass is blocked. Chris D'Alvise has the puck, shoots it, and it hits Louke Oakley.

The bounces off the boards are different at Appleton than at other rinks.

The first power play for CU is over...they had a couple of opportunities, but no goals for Clarkson. The score remains with slu...3....Clarkson....0

Matt Beca shoots the puck, but it misses the net.

Tom Pizzo carries the puck over the line.

Tim Marks is called for tripping at 2:40 of Period 2. This is slu's second power play.

How nice one of them just missed the net on his shot.

An slu player nearly tipped the puck into the net.

Once again, up the under the net goes slu's fourth goal....darn it.

Well, goodbye Paul Karpowich.

Welcome Richie LaVeau....Clarkson's second goaltender.

slu leads by four goals.:(

Goldie Knight

Richie LeVeau makes his first save of the knight...that's certainly better than NOT making the save.

Bryan Rufenach tosses the puck down the ice.

This must be a very long knight for the Knights and their coaches.

Mark Boroweicki continues to make good hits on slu players.

Another Clarkson penalty....this is Phil Paquet's second penalty I think.

Clarkson could not clear the puck and it was turned over to slu. Richie made two great saves on slu shots.

Ty Mason has had a very strong game for Clarkson....that's great news.

Keeping sticks in passing lanes is always good, and the slu puck hit one of Clarkson's sticks and went down the ice.

Power play is finally over....no damage done.

Goldie Knight

Well, I'll be darned...another penalty is called against Clarkson's Bryan Rufenach for cross checking. Adam Bellows makes a good defensive move and sends the puck down the ice.

The net is off its moorings again.

Ty Mason shoots the puck down the ice.

One of the sluzers, Mackenzie, literally ran into Richie LaVeau, and knocked him down the ice.....unbelievable...but no call against slu.

The slu power play is over.

Goldie Knight

Ty Mason passes to Scott Freeman, but nothing happened.

Josh commented how frustrating this game is for all those affiliated with Clarkson, including the players and the coaches.

Well, guess what? Another Clarkson penalty on Phil Paquet for cross checking.

Clarkson could not clear the puck and finally Ty Mason and Scott Freemen get the puck down the ice.

Bob just mentioned that Clarkson has played nearly five periods without scoring a single goal.

Rich LaVeau made a brilliant save.

The power play is at last over for slu....no more damage done.

Goldie Knight
01-10-2009, 09:30 PM
Chris D'Alvise took a good shot on the slu goal.....unfortunately, it did not go in.

Richie LaVeau is punched into the net....the animals must have escaped from their cages....no call made.

Richie made another great save as the puck was elevated and also changed directions.

Dan Tuttle passes to Tim Marks who shot the puck, but the shot was blocked.

Goldie Knight
01-10-2009, 09:35 PM
Once again, the net comes off the moorings.....hopefully that will be corrected after the end of the period.

Nick Tremblay clears the puck down the ice.

An slu breakaway, and Ty Mason took a dive and tried to stop the skater.

So Ty Mason goes to the penalty box.

Rich LaVeau makes another save.

Period 2 ends with a four goal lead for slu....oh what a knight....what a terrible knight it is.

Goldie Knight
01-10-2009, 09:53 PM
Richie LaVeau made 17 saves during the portion of Period 2 in which he played.

We are underway with the third period.

Matt Beca made a good attempt to score, and he just missed.

Ty Mason is back from his sentence.

Good hustle for Clarkson so far this period.

Richie LaVeau makes another save on a bouncing puck.

Goldie Knight
01-10-2009, 09:59 PM
An slu player is called for holding the stick. Can you believe it?

Scott Freeman had a good opportunity to score.

SCOTT FREEMAN TO MATT BECA FOR CLARKSON'S FIRST GOAL OF THIS GAME! LUKE OAKLEY ALSO EARNS AN ASSIST. A POWER PLAY GOAL.

At 16:19 of the third period.....

the score is now CLARKSON...1 slu...4

Scott Freeman had another opportunity to score on a pass from Brandon DeFazio, but a defensive move by slu prevented that from happening.

Now Julien Cayer has the puck, but it is knocked down the ice.

14:03 left in Period 3.

Goldie Knight
01-10-2009, 10:05 PM
Well, a bad bounce goal off a leg and into the net....the sluzers score their fifth goal of the evening. Richie was not at fault.

The score is now CLARKSON....1 slu....5

A holding call on the sluzers....puts Clarkson on its third power play.

Matt Beca takes a shot on goal.

Josh talks about the tension the Clarkson players feel.

Lauri Tuohimma is called for holding and the sluzers are on the power play once again.

Goldie Knight
01-10-2009, 10:10 PM
8:45 left in Period 3.

The power play ends.

Scott Freeman is tripped going towards the net, and naturally, nothing is called.

The minutes are dwindling down, and the game is coming to a close. We need to find some Golden Knights who can score goals. Clarkson's effort has been somewhat better in this third period.

Goldie Knight
01-10-2009, 10:15 PM
Chris D'Alvise falls, and he eventually gets the puck back.

The puck goes again out of the Clarkson zone.

3:24 remains in this God-awful game.

Dan Tuttle had a terrific shot on goal...probably the best one of the game, but it didn't go into the net.

Goldie Knight
01-10-2009, 10:21 PM
Clarkson's Brandon DeFazio shots the puck and just misses. Another shot through the goal mouth.

An slu player, McBride, takes a late and nasty hit on Scott Freeman, and the Golden Knights will go on the power play again.

Clarkson takes a time out.

The faceoff is won by slu and Tim Marks takes a shot at the slu goalie.

WOW... this disaster is over, with even more humilation for the Clarkson Golden Knights....final score....CLARKSON...1.....the sluzers....5 :o

Goldie Knight
01-10-2009, 10:27 PM
The shots on goal tell a true story of what happened.

41 for the sluzers......14 for the Golden Knights

Richie LaVeau faced a total of 23 shots on goal during the second and third periods.
