A few comments from the pre-game conversation with Bob and George.
Toknight's lineup is just like last knight's. George felt we have to play physically and aggressively and stay out of the penalty box. We have no one injured and subsequently out of the Clarkson lineup toknight...whew...that's great news.
KNOW NO LIMITS, CLARKSON GOLDEN KNIGHTS....BEAT OHIO STATE TOKNIGHT

We are underway with the first period action.
Tim Marks took a pass from Chris D'Alvise but just could not put the puck in the net.
No score yet.

Ohio State just took a shot which hit the post....whew....what Clarkson luck.:)
Phil Paquet took the puck from an Ohio State player. Clarkson seems to be controling the play. Now Adam Bellows takes the puck away from an Ohio State player.
Now Ohio State just scored....there was a pile up in front of Paul Karpowich, and he was down with no chance to make the save.
Ohio State....1.....Clarkson....no score yet.

Once again Tim Marks had another chance to score, but the puck went just wide of the net. The puck is cleared by Ohio State.
Matt Beca crosses the line with puck, but there are three Ohio State skaters waiting for him.
Now Ohio State is pressuring Clarkson again, but Shea Guthrie controls the puck. Shea is elbowed to the head and knocked down...no call.:(
Clarkson is having some trouble clearing the puck, but Ty Mason knocks the puck out of the Clarkson zone.

The first penalty of the game goes to Matt Beca for elbowing.:(
Ohio State had no penalties called against them last knight, so this is there first power play of the series.
Mark Borowiecki drives the puck down the ice, and Shea Guthrie did the same things.
Ohio State has taken ten shots on goal....Clarkson only three.
The power play for OS is over.:)

Both Chris D'Alvise and Matt Beca have opportunities to score.
I'm glad to see that Mike Willemsen is playing this weekend....he always gives hard body checks to the enemy.
Brandon DeFazio is on a line with Scott Freeman and Lauri Tuohimma....roommates and friends....this line has been very productive for the Golden Knights.
Paul Karpowich just made a great pad save after Clarkson was unable to clear the puck out of the zone.

Julien Cayer and Nick Tremblay passed the puck back and forth, but they were unable to score a goal.
On dear, Julien Cayer is given Clarkson's second penalty this period.
Pushing and shoving by both teams as the first period ends.
Clarkson is outshot 13 ~ 4 this period and outscored 1 ~ 0...too bad.

Late in the second period, in the Catamount Cup tournament in Burlington, UVM leads SLU 3 ~ 0. If I remember correctly, it wasn't too long ago sometime in December, that SLU defeated UVM by one goal with about 8 seconds left to play at Appleton Arena. Wow, what a game that must have been.
Period 2 is underway from Ohio.
Julien Cayer is still serving his penalty, which began last period.
Gary Mikel just mentioned that the OS scoreboard cost 3 1/2 million dollars!
OS power play is over with no damage done...thank goodness.

Clarkson just took several shots on goal....by Shea Guthrie, Bryan Rufenach, and Nick Tremblay....none went in though I'm sorry to say.
Paul Karpowich is again on top of his game toknight and is making some great saves. Now Clarkson needs to step forward and score a couple of goals to make all Golden Knights fans happy.
The linesman just called a Clarkson offside when four Golden Knights were going over the line with just two opponents.:( The Clarkson bench was not happy with that call.
Oh my, an OS player just shot the puck off the post...wow...no more goals for you folks.

Shots on goal....17 ~ 5 in favor of Ohio State:mad:
Jake Morley took a shot on goal, and Mike Willemsen was called for charging the goal tender.....just after Paul Karpowich was knocked to the ice at the other end of the rink....that is disgusting.
Now OS is on their third power play of the knight, and George's words come to mind....we have to stay out of the penalty box.
Adam Bellows and Tim Marks clear the puck. Matt Beca gets the puck and the OS power play is over....once again no damage done.
Clarkson played well defensively during this OS power play.

Each team is getting a few hits from behind....without any calls being made.
Well, that's great news....Ohio State is called for holding.
Shall we begin Clarkson's first power play?
Julien Cayer took a shot and then took another one a minute later.
Matt Beca took a shot which was blocked. Phil Paquet lost the puck.
Chris D'Alvise took a shot which was pushed aside.
The power play was not successful for Clarkson and is over.

Ohio State took a couple of shots...they all missed.:)
Mark Borowiecki took a shot on the OS goaltender.
Clarkson goes on its second power play.
A Clarkson shot hits the ankle of the goaltender.
Julien Cayer took another shot, which was deflected...not into the net.
Dan Tuttle won the faceoff, but the power play is over.....still no score for the Golden Knights.:(

Clarkson goes on its third power play of the game, as Paul Karpowich is run into and OS receives a penalty.
Julien Cayer fell, and two OS players went in alone against Paul Karpowich, who made a good stop.
Tim Marks and Matt Beca and Phil Paquet pass the puck around the OS net.
Clarkson has moved the puck well on its power plays this period and is looking pretty sharp.
Lauri Tuohimma shoots and the puck bounces off the shoulder of the OS goalie...what bad luck.
The score at the end of Period 2 is still Ohio State...1 and Clarkson....is still trying to score its first goal. According to Bob and Gary, the Golden Knights are playing much better as the game goes on....a much stronger second period.

Well, it appears the UVM has won its own Catamount Tournament, by defeating SLU 4 ~ 0 toknight.
No one has scored on the power play this knight.
It would definitely boost the morale of everyone involved with Clarkson hockey if the Golden Knights could score a couple of goals this upcoming third period...and Paul Karpowich could continue to be stingy in not allowing any more goals.
Goldie Knight

Period Three is underway...let's go techers....on to victory toknight.
Tim Marks took a shot and the rebound came out to Matt Beca, who was tackled and brought down to the ice in front of the OS goal.
Clarkson goes on its fourth power play.....now is the hour, Golden Knights.
Bryan Rufenach and Scott Freeman pass the puck back and forth.
Nick Tremblay passes to Matt Beca who could not get a shot off. Phil Paquet controls the puck as the power play ends....and still no goals for Clarkson.

An OS player just missed an open net.....what great news that is.
Shots on goal now....OS...21....CLARKSON....19
Tim Marks is going to the penalty box. Adam Bellows shoots the puck out of the zone.
Shea Guthrie and Nick Tremblay go across the line on a two on one break, but the puck was taken away by OS.
Paul makes another save and Mark Borowiecki shoots the puck down the ice.
The power play is over for OS after Paul made another great save.
Goldie Knight

An OS player hooks down Brandon DeFazio and Clarkson goes back on the power play.
Oh my goodness, OS is called for a second consecutive penalty.
CLARKSON NOW HAS A TWO-MAN ADVANTAGE.
Phil Paquet and Matt Beca exchange passes. Chris D'Alvise and Tim Marks both shoot, but the OS goalie grabs the puck out of the air and sends it down the ice....darn it.
Julien and Bryan exchange passes. Bryan shot and his stick shattered.
Lauri Tuohimma is called for a penalty, and there goes the Clarkson advantage.
Goldie Knight
01-03-2009, 10:57 PM
Now OS is on its own power play, as they killed off the Clarkson penalties.
OS is pressuring again, and Paul Karpowich is called upon to make more saves.
Scott Freeman and Adam Bellows clear the puck down the ice.
We are half way through the third period.
An OS player misses an open net opportunity....good.
The OS power play is over.....what a relief.
Goldie Knight

The only goal of the game was scored by Ohio State in the seventh minute of Period 1.
Shea Guthrie is pulled down, but no call was made.
Clarkson has had six power plays and has not been able to score on any of them.
Nick Tremblay's shot was misdirected by an OS stick and nearly went into the net.
Clarkson's Phil Paquet is called for slashing.
Lauri Tuohimma's shot was knocked wide of the net by an OS player.
5:28 remains in the game.

Time is running out for the Golden Knights.....we need a goal please.
Clarkson has had two strong games...back to back...last knight and toknight.
Phil Paquet's shot is blocked, and Clarkson controls the puck.
Paul Karpowich makes a save, drops the puck, and then falls to cover it up.
Goldie Knight
01-03-2009, 11:13 PM
Matt Beca is certainly due to score to goal, and he has had some golden opportunites to do so. The line of Matt Beca, Tim Marks, and Chris D'Alvise has played well toknight.
Clarkson has not been shut out this year....until toknight.
Scott Freeman is tripped up...no call.
Phil Paquet's shot fell down behind the OS goaltender who grabbed the puck before it could go into the net.....boo.
Oh my, the end has come.....as Paul Karpowich has been pulled from the Clarkson net...and an empty net goal wins the tournament for Ohio State.
FINAL SCORE.....CLARKSON....0.....OHIO STATE.....2
