CLARKSON versus harvard....November 14, 2008

Bob Ahlfeld interviewed George Roll prior to the game. George felt Clarkson and harvard were very similar....both lost key players to graduation.....both have freshmen goalies. Clarkson has had success here at Harvard in the past, but toknight the Golden Knights will have to work hard. Clarkson needs to be better defensively....this was stressed in practice this week. George said we need to get more traffic on the net and shut down their power play.

George mentioned earlier that some of the prospective recruits that Clarkson talked to are playing for Harvard this season.:mad:

Oh dear....the first whistle indicates a penalty to Matt Beca...so harvard goes on the first power play. I hear the Clarkson Pep Band chanting "Let's Go Tech."

Clarkson has had a very good penalty kill....no scoring for harvard.:)

Well, I just lost the feed just as Clarkson went on the power play. It's back now....the power play is over....Clarkson did not score.

Oh darn it, Clarkson had a quick turnover and harvard just scored.

Shea Guthrie took a shot on goal....then Tom Pizzo did the same.

6:52 left in Period 1. Clarkson has played very well until the crimsons scored their first goal....bummer.

I am angry now.....Harvard just scored their second goal of the period, and the Golden Knights are behind by two goals....how depessing:(.

Harvard's second goal only took five seconds of the power play to be scored...demoralizing for the Golden Knights.:o

Harvard is still pressuring the Clarkson Knights...and I'll be darned....harvard just now scored its third goal.

The Golden Knights look dispirited...and they should after allowing harvard to score three goals in this period....unbelievably horrid.

Period 2 is now underway. Paul Karpowich faced six shots on goal during Period 1.....harvard scored on three of those shots.

Tim Marks took a good shot on goal, and Ty Mason shot on goal right afterwards.

Tom Pizzo is knocked to the ice and harvard is signaled for boarding.....whatever...the Golden Knights are on the power play.

Both Brandon DeFazio and Lauri Tuohimma took shots on goal during the CU power play. No goals during this power play.:(

Clarkson is called for a penalty on Dan Tuttle for interference. The Golden Knights are playing well on this penalty kill.

Matt Beca is knocked down....no call.

The Knights have a much more spirited step in their play. Dan Tuttle shot the puck and hit the harvard goalie in the chest....the puck did not go into the net.

Tom Pizzo had a great shot on net.....followed by several more shots from Golden Knights.

Now Clarkson is back on the power play....Know no limits, Clarkson Golden Knights.

Ten minutes remain in Period 2.

Tim Marks shoots again....but.

Clarkson is making good plays in the offensive end.

I think the Golden Knights got so far behind in Period 1 they have lost some of their confidence.

Harvard's net is knocked off its moorings and play resumes momentarily.

Oh no. oh no....a hit along the boards against Ty Mason, freed up the puck for harvard and those crimsons just scored their fourth goal....disgusting.

Dan Reed takes the puck over the blue line.

Goals are very hard to come by for the Golden Knights this evening......now that is an understatement from Bob.

Period 2 is now over, and we are behind by three goals.....bummer

Period 3 is underway...and unfortunately Clarkson is facing an improbable situation.

Matt Beca just missed scoring a goal.

Clarkson is now on the power play.....Shea and Bryan collide and the puck goes down the ice.

Now harvard takes the puck and shoots it on the Clarkson goal.

The power play is over and the Golden Knights have nothing to show for their work.

16:10 remains in the game....Clarkson skates into the zone offside.

Paul Karpowich just robbed a harvard player who came in on a breakaway. It surely sounds like we are having defensive difficulties this evening.

Tim Marks....penalty for contact to the head of a harvard player.

Harvard just scored its second power play goal of the game....now they have five goals....and the Golden Knights are suffering with only one goal.

It makes me wonder how much worse this game can get? Clarkson is zero for four on their power play....a zero percentage.....you can't get any worse than this.

When things go bad, they really go bad for Clarkson. The Golden Knights have been completely out of sync the entire game, and harvard has capitalized on many of their chances.

If we lose this game....then the Golden Knights will fall below .500:o

If this game doesn't provide a huge wake-up call for the Golden Knights, what will?

Brandon DeFazio is slashed in the neck and a harvard player is on his way to the sin bin.

Harvard gets the puck and shoots it down the ice. Many of the mistakes Clarkson has made, harvard has taken advantage of them.

Clarkson's six game winning streak over harvard at Bright Arena is over....with a discouraging end.
