Where will we meet for the RS games?

I don't know if Scott is planning on having one here or not, but if not, I would guess the ECAC club at Yahoo. Anyone have any other ideas?

I fully intend to include a chat room before the regular season begins. I will most likely use IRC, as Kyle Rose did for the Cornell Hockey Discussion Forum, since Java-based chats are (in my experience) unreliable. What do you think?

Scott

The IRC works for me. I liked Kyle's setup better, where I could be in 2 places at once.

A chat room would be great, is there anything I need to download to use the IRC chat room. I don't know much about it.

You would only need to download an IRC client such as mIRC (www.mirc.co.uk) and point it at the chat server once it's set up -- probably this weekend or next. However, if I somehow lose my DSL line, we'd probably have to move the chats to one of the IRC networks like DALnet...

I can also look at finding a Java-based IRC client for those who are unable or unwilling to install a client on their PC, but those tend to be unreliable.

Please excuse my ignorance... and my lack of timeliness, but is this chat room set up? I always go the the "live scores and updates" thread during the game but if I could go to the chat room where I didn't have to keep refreshing the page it would be better.
Thanks

I apologize for the delay in getting this set up. I am compiling the server software as I type this; by game time tomorrow night, everyone should be able to point an IRC client at irc.goldenknightshockey.com. I will make a more detailed announcement once I finish setting it up.

I posted this elsewhere, but the Cornell chat is now on irc.warped.net; if the Clarkson chat moves to a shared server, it might be a good idea to go there to make it easier for us to lurk in each other's chat rooms.

Is there a way to get a password reminder for the chat? I couldn't remember mine for last night's game and ended up creating a username/pw.

I don't know, but I'm going to update the software today. If there isn't one, I'll write one.

I notice there are a bunch of flags available as chat emoticons, like :de: and :eu:. Is it possible to add the Swiss flag under :ch:? Oh, and Irish as :ie:?

I'll see what I can do; if the graphics don't exist I'll have to make 'em.
