Buffalo Sabres

I've been looking an answer to a question regarding Sabres sweaters/jerseys. One of the guys I work with has a composite picture of Sabres jerseys through the years. One of the more recent ones (since 2000 I think) says "New York" down the front on a diagonal and reminds me a little of a Rangers jersey. Anybody know what this was about, and why it didn't say "Buffalo" instead?

Thanks Placid. Actually if you click on the 2000's page and scroll down to the second photo and the paragraph to the left, Buffalo did indeed have such a jersey in 2001-02 as a special.
