Is it too early in the week to get pumped for Friday night's matchup? Two long-time ECAC powerhouses do battle with first place (according to winning percentage) on the line. The Red come off their first four-point weekend since November, while the Knights look to rebound from a disappointing one-point road trip. I'm glad Cornell had the chance to pull into first, but the prospect of playing Clarkson in their barn is even more intimidating if they're ticked off after last weekend. It's a good thing this game is Friday, though, or I'd be afraid Cornell would look past SLU.

Clarkson is coming off a disappointing weekend, not the way they would have wanted to go in against Cornell. They had better be pumped and more ready to play than they were against UVM. The Cornell games are always exciting and if Tech can win it would be a good springboard to finish strong.

Anyone know whether Latulippe will be ready for this weekend. What is the prognosis for McFetters? Is he done for the year?

Poapst, Evans and O'Flaherty have to step up this weekend and put some pucks into the nets or this could be another long weekend.

I have heard up here that Latullipe is expected to be ready to go this weekend. I'll probably hear more by Wed. or Thursday.

Last I heard on McFeeters is 4-6 weeks minimum with a longer absence still possible. The next couple of weeks should be crucial to telling how long he will be out (how much it heals over that time will be important).

Tech needs 4 things (at least):

1) Senior leadership, which means among other things:

2) Better discipline, i.e., no dumb penalties

and

3) Solid goaltending

4) Improved special teams play, esp against Cornell!

I am really hoping for a big performance and win against Cornell, so that my trip to Lynah in Feb will be even more highly charged!

LETS GO TECH!!!!!!

I need some advice. My fam and I were gonna make the 5 hour trip to the North Country this weekdend to see the games. But now I have a dilema... I'm also a Patriots fan and if we go to Potsdam for the weekend we won't make it home in time to watch the Steelers/Pats with my father. God knows they don't make it this far very often so we are considering skipping this weekend and going up for the Harvard/Brown weekend in Feb. But we saw Haavaad and (around the bowl) Brown last year. My wife has never seen a Cornell game and I thought she would like to. What do I do?!?!?

Tape the Patriots game and don't listen to a radio station on the way back that may give the scores. Pull up to the house and run inside and watch it on tape.

This Cornell game is too important. I wish I could be there. I really agree with others when they say this game is a measuring stick for Clarkson's remainder of the year.

Taping the Pats game and not listening to the radio out of fear of hearing the score is easier said than done, my friend. Your curiosity will be hard to keep down. But, if you figure the Pats will get their arses whooped this weekend, then it makes the decision easier. Tough dilemma, though. I don't envy you. Cornell games are quite fun and rowdier than usual. But there's always next season......Best of luck!!!

As it turned out you were lucky!! The miracle in the snow was much more enjoyable than the Cat attack. I watched the Pats on TV and listen to the Knights on the net. One was much more enjouable than the other...

My wife, who has to get up a couple of times a night to nurse my 2 month old son, may have something to say about getting up too early to rush home...

UHG!

I say go for the Tech-Cornell game. They are almost always memorable in some way, though not always pleasantly from the Tech perspective.

I've been sold since my first...2/2/71, a 2-1 OT Tech win at Clarkson Arena which still ranks as the BEST hockey game I have ever seen at any level.

Family considerations put things in a different perspective of course, but I bet your wife thanks you for choosing the hockey game. By all means, DONT opt for the football game instead!

:D

Good Luck!!! :)

Well the decision has been made (not that anyone really cares :o ) we decided to stay home, and I think I'm regretting it already!!
Anyway only a few hours before the game... is there a Buzz around campus/town. What are the feelings for tonights game. Anyone talk to the players or coaches? What's the insight?

Chuck, maybe it'll have been a wise decision... Perhaps Tech will blow out Cornell and it'll be a boring game, and the Pats will beat the steelers on Sunday. I'm scheduling my whole weekend(including work) around that football game. Have faith, man. LGT!!!! :)

I guess I've made the opposite decision, since I'm flying to Ithaca next weekend for Cornell-Harvard and Cornell-Brown, and will be in the Houston airport for most of the Super Bowl. (Hopefully by the time I have to board my flight to Brownsville the Rams will have put the game away ;))

Cornell 1 Clarkson 0. First time in the history of Clarkson Hockey that we have suffered back to back shutouts. Bring on Colgate.

Geez...what do we have to do to score a goal??

Did Underhill stand on his head in the third? What was their goal like? I got home way too late.

Now I'll spend the next month getting fired up forr the game at Lynah...the wife and my brother and sis in law will be on the glass! I know one guy who will be NUTS that night....

My undefeated record at Lynah will be on the line!!!:D

LETS GO TECH....BLAST COLGATE!!!

Bad angel shot that snuck between his pad and the post or between his pads. He had them squeezed together tight, just one of those fluke goals. Can't blame anything on Walsh, he was outstanding. He made several big saves throughout the game.

Shots ended up 29-19 Clarkson got the better of the play and shots but could not beat Underhill. Underhill had a few big saves and Clarkson had some good chances where they didn't even get the shot off, but a lot of their shots were into his gut or poor percentage shots (although Cornell's goal falls into that category:mad:

It was one of those games where you got the feeling as the game got under ten minutes if Tech didn't score soon, Cornell is going to get a fluke goal and this is going to end badly.

It was a well played game, physical, good flow, but the ending really didn't go down well.

I know that feeling... I HATE that feeling!! Why does that alway seem to happen to us?

When are we gonna figure out how to score?

I don't mean to give up hope on this year so soon, but i've seen some talk on the roundtable about recruits for next year... are there any promising sharpshooters??

Colgate 0
Clarkson 5

I think Gary Mikel called it a "deflected" shot on his Green Machine report. Anyone who heard the game agree?

Goalies can almost NEVER (definitely NEVER in my case...:D ) be faulted on a deflection...its the change of direction!

So far, only 2 D men and a goalie are committed for next year, and the goalie will sit a year.

Unfortunately, Greg Kemp, son of Tech '72 great Jerry Kemp...man could he shoot!!!!!!....is supposedly leaning towards RIP. He plays for the elects in the Capital District, same team Evans played for before Tech.

I say we fill the net tonight. How did Latulippe look last night, assuming he played.

Didn't appear to be deflected. Walsh trapped the shot in his pads, but was off balance and it trickled through. There was some traffic and it was poked at by a bunch of players and barely made it over the line. A clarkson player had been playing without a stick for a couple of minutes while the whole play developed.

Latullippe looked OK. He played with Poapst and O'Flarehty, but doesn't really seem to fit onto that line. Maybe as he gets his timing back he will fit in better with them. I think they need more of a physical presence on their line. Latullipe isn't afraid to mix it up (With his size, gotta give him credit) but that really isn't his game. I still think Blight is the man to fill in that spot though. He can crash the net and pick up the rebounds off the shots of the other two. He can also grind in the corners and get the puck out to the other two. I really think that is what that line needs.
