Bob and George talked during the pre-game show. George credited a very unselfish Shawn Weller who took a lot of abuse in front of the net last knight and never retaliated. He mentioned the four power play goals which Clarkson scored last knight. George felt that Max Kolu, Tim Marks, and Dan Tuttle provided good pressure in the defensive end. Clarkson has lost the last three years here.
Brown is tied for seventh place, and Clarkson is tied for fifth place. George felt the game would be a defensive battle. He said the next two games, against Brown and against SLU, were huge for the Golden Knights....every game is important. Clarkson needs to play well.
BEAT THE LITTLE BROWNIES....LET'S GO TECHERS.....ON TO VICTORY:)

How nice of Brown to take another penalty ...this time for interference.
Clarkson begins its second power play of the period. Shea Guthrie drives toward the goal. Michael Grenzy has the puck and passes it off to Shawn Weller. Nick Dodge attempts a shot. Nick Dodge's shot goes off the crossbar.....oh dear:mad:
Clarkson's power play is over, but a penalty is called on David Cayer for hooking. Mike Sullivan blocked a pass and sent it out to the neutral zone.

Brown's power play is over....thankfully unsuccessful.

MIKE GRENZY SCORES A POWER PLAY GOAL FOR CLARKSON:)...WITH THE ONLY ASSIST GOING TO MATT BECA.....AT 17:19 OF PERIOD 1.
THIS WAS CHANGED AFTER THE GAME TO THE FOLLOWING:
CLARKSON'S FIRST GOAL WAS SCORED BY BRODIE RUTHERGLEN, WITH ASSISTS BEING GIVEN TO MICHAEL GRENZEY AND MATT BECA.
What a coincidence that we visited with Michael Grenzy's girl friend just a couple of hours prior to game time. We all agreed that we would be listening to the radio broadcast toknight. Michael, you make us all happy.

POUR ON THE POWER, CLARKSON GOLDEN KNIGHTS.

Nick Dodge wins the faceoff.
Phil's penalty will be over in ten seconds.
Clarkson survived four power plays and two five on threes......without allowing a brown goal. The downside of this is that being down a man or two Clarkson severely limited its chances to score goals.
PERIOD 2 is finally over.
The score is tied at one apiece.

The latest report from New Haven.....SLU...4....yale 1. It looks like we really need to win this game against the brownies.
Let's try to make those Clarkson penalties very limited in this period. We need everyone on the ice to generate some scoring. That brownie goaltender is excellent.
Some good shots on the brown net....but no Clarkson score.
DAVID CAYER SCORES A GOAL ON A SLAP SHOT AT 3:00 INTO PERIOD 3.....ASSISTS TO NICK AND BRODIE
DON'T YOU JUST LOVE IT:) :)

The following is a report of the post-game interview between Coach Roll and Bob Ahlfeld, immediately following the game Saturday knight.
An exuberant George Roll praised his specialty teams and mentioned the fact that Clarkson had nine penalty kills. George said this was a great effort. The Golden Knights did a great job defensively. George gave his team a load of credit, saying this game was a total team effort. David Leggio provides consistency and makes the saves he needs to make. George said they will begin thinking about SLU starting tomorrow. He inferred they will savor their weekend sweep on the bus trip back to Potsdam.:)
WE ARE VERY PROUD OF OUR GOLDEN KNIGHTS!
Goldie:
Thanks for all your input and work on keeping us all posted this past weekend.
The only worry I have is George congratulating them on 9 penalty kills. I feel much better if he was congratulating them on 4 PK's in a 2-1 win. Point is that they cannot continue to play nearly an entire period each game a man down, no matter how good the PK is..... they are flirting with future disaster if the parade to the penalty box continues.....:o

Bill,
I forgot to write the word "mentioned" in the first sentence of the second paragraph, and I don't want anyone to misconstrue what George said. That sentence is now corrected. Perhaps, considering the 16 penalties taken against Yale on Friday, George was pleased about the reduction in penalties down to 9, against Brown on Saturday knight. The ride home had to be a great deal happier as the Golden Knights returned to Potsdam with four weekend points.....an admirable accomplishment.
I assume the Monday practice at Cheel Arena will be business as usual, as there is a lot of pride, bragging rights, and two vitally important points at stake for the Tuesday knight rivalry against SLU.
KNOW NO LIMITS, CLARKSON GOLDEN KNIGHTS.

Goldie: Thanks for the clarification - I was so happy with the 4 pt. weekend that I did not stay around to listen to George's comments after the Brown game. I am still concerned, however, that Coach would be pleased about anything to do with 9 PK's - it cannot be comforting to be happy about playing 1/3rd of the game a man short - even when compared to playing 1/2 of the game a man short the previous knight. That said, I do sympathize with the boys in their confusion over what is/is not a penalty this year however, as the consistency of officiating across the board appears to me to be worse than ever this year.
LGT!!!
