Spent the weekend at the icebreaker in Miami's new arena (dedicated to our nephew, who the NCAA honored by moving the tournament from the Kohl to the Cady Arena) and had a great time in a fabulous new building (should really help recruiting).
As to the hockey - if Colgate really is #1 in the ECAC, we're in trouble, because they didn't really show up either knight (0-6 and 2-3 to Vermont and Denver). Miami beat Denver 5-2 on Friday and looked good - came out flat on Saturday and Catamounts whacked'em. Denver may have trouble this year after losing their 2 best to NHL. Vermont was very impressive - big, fast and stopped by Mr. Fallon, who averaged 0.5 gpg for the weekend - he was impressive. I sat with the NCAA's supervisor of officials for a while, and the on ice crew called more penalties in a weekend (4 games) than I have seen in any 20 games. Ref's got in the way of the game for sure in every case - not sure what they were trying to prove, but really ruined the flow. If they were trying to impress Frank, they didn't. Games were on ESPNU - would be interested in your observations, if you saw them.
All in all, a great weekend for the family.

Re. Colgate: its not that unusual for the top ECAC team to be defeated by non-conference top foes.
Probably why the league sends a team to the Frozen Four less regularly than the Winter Olympics occur.

True, but I expect the #1 rated team in the ECAC to put up a better showing than that! Last year St. Lawrence (rated middle) tied Miami & we (rated towards bottom) lost to them by one goal (both on the road) and Miami finished first in the CCHA going away. I say again, if Colgate really is #1, the rest of the ECAC is in trouble. (There is another possibility -- Colgate is not #1):p
