Week 1 is in the books and the Knights are off to their best start since 1999-2000.

The good:

The Chat Room; Just Awsome Scott. BIG KUDOS.
Listen or watch over the internet. While the bugs on the video are being worked out many thanks to all involved.
11 goals. I'll take our chances every weekend if we can manage 11 goals/weekend.
Leggio was solid in the nets.
Beca with a great opening weekend for a freshman.
Goals were spread around. How about Tuttle with 2 goals.

The not so good:

My darned internet. Could not listen or watch. Comcast here I come  .
2 guys sitting for violation of team rules  .
Way too many penalties.

The great:
leading the country in scoring @ 5.5gpg ;)
Beca and Marks both had solid games.
Kudos to Tuttle for 2 goals. Solid 4 lines - roll any out there with an opportunity to score.

The chat. I've begun to setup my garage for an extended stay.

Video. While technical difficulties plagued the feed last Knight, the ability to watch the games is great. See garage above.

The bad:
Penalties
Guthrie messed up my Pick to Click.

How nice to build confidence and establish our first two victories of the season. Way to go, Clarkson Golden Knights!

RIT had its own game plan for last knight's name, and they played very tenaciously all evening. I don't believe anyone at Cheel Arena expected this type of performance from RIT. The second period was not a good one for the Golden Knights, as RIT scored both of their goals in the first half of that period.

From my perspective, the highlight of the evening was David Cayer's unassisted goal with only 17 seconds remaining in regulation time. The Golden Knights were on a power play, and David literally shot the puck from one end of the rink to the other, through some traffic, and directly into the empty net. Some empty-net goals are easy to earn, but due to the distance this puck had to travel and the obstacles it might have encountered, it was a marvelous play to watch unfold.

Congratulations to our four goal scorers and their assistants:

1. Grant Clitsome with help from Nick Dodge and Shea Guthrie

2. David Cayer with help from Mike Sullivan

3. Steve Zalewski with help from Matt Beca and Shawn Weller.

4. David Cayer....without any help.

The ECAC Commissioner Steve Hagwell was in attendance at the game during which a short ceremony commemorated Clarkson's 2,000th hockey game. The Commissioner also attended the post-game gathering in the Barben Rooms. I'm glad Steve had an opportunity to savor the ambiance of our special evening. We are indeed fortunate to have such a first-class facility at Cheel.

Vic, I am also impressed with the freshman Matt Beca's contributions this weekend. Speaking with Matt after the game, we realized that he is 20 years old, but that seems to be the norm now to have somewhat older players. He played regularly and earned one goal and two assists this weekend. I also liked what I witnessed from freshman Tim Marks. He is a tall young man, 21 years old, and has had a lot of experience playing hockey.

David Leggio was awarded the privilege of wearing the hard hat, signifying the hardest worker on the team. The student section continually offered David cheers of encouragement. It is apparent that David is much more confident now than he was a year ago.

Now all we need to do is get half the number of penalties our opponent is assessed, win almost every game, and everyone will be delighted.

KNOW NO LIMITS, CLARKSON GOLDEN KNIGHTS

Just in case you missed Coach Roll's interview on Cool 93, the ECAC Player of the week was Steve Zalewski.

Matt Beca and David Leggio made the honor roll (http://www.ecachockeyleague.com/pdfs/men/ecachl_wk-1_m-players-06.pdf).
