Names on Jerseys

This may be a stupid question but Why did the guys not have names on their jerseys tonight? The jerseys are different than the home jerseys that they wore last year. Why?

because they are the ROAD jerseys
Niagara's road jerseys arent in yet so clarkson wore theirs tonight.

And, naturally, I feel I have to chime in on this discussion because it saddens me not to be able to see the individual's last name on the jerseys. If the Golden Knights are playing on the road, there are always alumni/ae there to cheer the hockey team on. It is obviously easier to identify a Golden Knight by his name instead of his number.

I am still attempting to discover the reason why this is done. Does anyone know?

The only logical reasons I can think of are financial, or some screwball NCAA reg. That's just idle speculation on my part, though, so take it for whatever it's worth. Although, I will say that it wouldn't surprise me in the least if the NCAA had in fact come up with such an illogical rule.

FWIW, this year, RPI has names on both the home and away uniforms. In the past, they were only on the home uniforms.

The most logical guess to me is it makes it harder to get taunted on the road.
Now fans who want to bash you by name have to either buy a program or bring a printed copy of the roster with them to the game.
