Chat rooms

We now have our own private Internet Relay Chat (IRC) server for live game discussion. This system operates very similarly to the Cornell IRC system, so users of that system will have no trouble here.

As with Cornell's system, you will need to download and install an IRC client such as mIRC (http://www.mirc.co.uk) Once you do that, simply point your client to:

Server: irc.goldenknightshockey.com
Port: 6667 or 7000 (it doesn't matter which)

After you connect, simply type '/join #clarkson' to join the Clarkson discussion.

The server will be available starting immediately, but I will only have it up on game days due to my low bandwidth connection. If demand warrants, I will move the chat to one of the IRC networks such as SorceryNet.

Note that the Cornell chat has moved over to irc.warped.net (channel #lynah). One possible motivation to move the Clarkson chat over there would be to make it easier for folks to lurk on one and chat on the other. (I've never tried IRC on two servers at once; is it trickier, or is that client-dependent?)

BTW, does this mean Techers won't be in the Yahoo! ECAC chat so much?

I was in both chats for a while on Friday, I like to talk about the Knights with Knights fans and talk about all teams(including the Knights) with ECAC fans. I will probably start trying to get to the Cornell Chat also, it has been a long time since I have been there. Are there all Cornell fans or is there a wide range of fans?
