The Chat room on Yahoo is now defunct. Any ideas where we can congregate this winter?

Ouch! I'll start looking immediately at various options/systems for chat.

I want to avoid IRC if at all possible, because many people don't have IRC clients, nor will they be willing or able to install one in many cases -- unless a reliable Java or Flash-based IRC client is available.

I'm a big fan of Chatzy myself. Very easy to use. Some could chip in for a pro account as well.

Yeah Scott, I agree. The year you used one turned me off on it -- was a PITA.

Curious...Any idea why they killed it?

I was wondering too.

Probably because of disuse coupled with spam.

Folks,

I've discovered a free chat software package (PCPIN Chat, pcpin.com) and will be installing it in the next couple of days. It's completely browser-based, no Java or Flash, no IRC, and no ads.

From a cursory examination, it looks as if it requires separate registrations/logins from the Roundtable, but I may be able to fix that.

Stay tuned!

Folks,

I'm working on installing the chat software as we speak. Sorry I haven't been able to get to this sooner, but I've been snowed with work.

Watch this thread for more information!

The chat software is up and functional! No Java, no flash, no ads!

You'll have to register again, until I can get the chat and Roundtable user databases integrated. A valid email address is required.

Yes, I know the memberlist function will display email addresses, but I'll change that during the game.

See you there!

The chat room will be available tonight, and should be available for all future games. I'll be there, and I hope to see everyone else there as well.

Scott,

I tried a few times this past weekend to get into the chatroom. Was advised that a confirming e-mail would be sent, but never got one.

Could you please e-mail this computer-illiterate SLU fan and advise me on this. I missed chatting with Joe, Vic, and others, and hope to be able to do so this go-round.

Thanks.
