Funny you say that... I had to make my 4 year old take off his "Team Tigger" shirt last night. It shows tigger playing hockey!

WHOOOOOO WHOOOOOO
IT'S ABOUT TIME. A total team effort and more of what this fan was expecting.

The good:

D'Alvise with 2 goals
Willemsen with his first collegiate goal
Sullivan with his 3rd goal of the weekend
Cayer with the other goal
Leggio with his first collegiate shutout
Totally outplayed Princeton

The Not So Good

The lack of people in the stands :( .

Well the final home game at Cheel is over. Congrats to the team with moving on. So all we know right now is we will not have to go to Dartmouth.

Right now there are 124 (edit1: 149, edit2: 161) people viewing the Yale/Union Score Update thread on USCHO. YALE/UNION! The Yale net cast server crashed, the Union server is maxed out on users.

God, I love college hockey! :D

Yale wins at 1:35 of period 8. Bulldogs advance to quarterfinals. Shorty by a freshman. And Union still hasn't won a playoff series. This is Yale's first series win since 1998.

That was a hell of a game. If St. Lawrence wins it's off to Lynah, if Brown wins, off to Cambridge. I never thought heading into the next weekend that we'd have a chance to play the lowest of the four byes. Anything goes in the ECAC!

Seems like the Saints went to three games last year? Or was it the year before?

So, who do we root for tomorrow? Let's see......

The morning after.............

finds the Golden Knights excited to pursue their goal of getting to Albany.

Todd, I don't know which team to cheer for....I think it would depend on several factors....the main consideration I have is "which team would the Golden Knights do better against--Harvard in Cambridge or Cornell in Ithaca"?

Clarkson's 5 ~ 0 victory over the Tigers last knight was one of their best games this season. Right from the beginning, the Golden Knights' play was far superior to that of the preceding knight. There were great body checks against Princeton and an obvious determination to win the game Saturday knight. Even though it was announced that John Murphy was again the referee, I thought it must have been someone else wearing the zebra-striped costume. Either that or John received word that one Clarkson fan wanted to lynch him in Cheel Arena after the disastrous calls he made against the Golden Knights Friday knight.;) There were only five penalties called against Clarkson and eight against Princeton in the game. Not much to scream and holler to JM about last knight. On several occasions, JM called matching penalties...something he seemed to forget doing Friday knight.

The Golden Knights who earned recognition last knight were

Goal # 1 David Cayer, with assists from Nick Doge and Michael Grenzy.

Goal # 2 Chris D'Alvise with help from Shawn Weller and Grant Clitsome.

Goal # 3 Mike Sullivan with help from David Cayer and Nick Dodge.

Goal # 4 Chris D'Alvise with his helpers Michael Grenzy and Philippe Paquet.

Goal # 5 Mike Willemsen with no identifiable help. This was Mike's first goal of the year, and as he mentioned in the Barben Rooms, it was Clarkson's last home goal of the year. How special that both his Mom and Dad could be at the game for this exciting event!

After the game, the three stars were announced as #1 Chris D'Alvise...#2 David Leggio....#3 Nick Dodge. David Leggio was thrilled with his first-ever Clarkson shut out, and he gave crdit to his teammates for their fine work.

Coach Roll was pleased with the style of play the Golden Knights exhibited. He credited the team with properly executing the game plan....and finishing hits. He was happy with the strong physical play of the Golden Knights.

What a perfect final home weekend for the Golden Knights. We were ecstatic over the two consecutive victories, and the momentum we hope will stay with the Golden Knights during the remainder of their season.

WE ARE PROUD OF OUR GOLDEN KNIGHTS.:)

Well, Goldie, it turns out I had it wrong. If Brown wins Tech goes to Harvard, if the Saints win, its off to Ithaca.

The number of fans and their enthusiasm was very disappointing this weekend. I drove all the way from Williamsville at a high rate of speed to see the games on Friday and Saturday. I positioned myself at the top of section 1 in the Leggio end for both games and proceeded to scream my head off. At first it was a lot of dirty looks as I was in the "reserved/quiet/geriatric" section. But, after a while people were clapping and yelling. All kidding aside, they want to cheer down there, there is just no one to get them going on a regular basis. They were really good sports.

It must be hard for our goalies to play and hear very little cheering. Leggio held us in the game on Friday knight and it should have been 4-2 kitty cats. He seriously needed some affirmation of his "outstanding" play on Friday and Saturday knight. With the limited number of people we still got some good "Leg - gi - OH!" cheers going on that end of the rink.

Sullivan was excellent. Mason was extremely consistent and made good plays in both directions. Weller can really set up a play. Dodge has lightning fast moves.

Why Murphy called Weller for a 5 minute and then a game DQ I don't know. But, when the kitty cat player drove Mason's head into the boards, and I do mean "drove", and he only got a 2 minute....that was complete garbage. Mason could have been seriously injured as it looked very similar to the BU players collision with the boards. That made no sense. Other than that call Murphy wasn't bad on Saturday knight.
