View Full Version : Clarkson 8 Mercyhurts 1
Congrats to the team on getting back to .500. The goals finally came today. Wish we could hold over about 6 of those toknight for next weekend. Bring on RIP and Onion. Should be a really tough weekend.
The good:
Goals, Goals and More Goals
54 shots on goal
All 3 goalies got playing time.
Kevin O'Flaherty's hat trick and 2 assists
The not so good:
Still weak on the power play.
Latulippes injury.
Much more consistent effort AND the goals were there. Mercyhurst looks like a D3 team, they just don't have much. Latullippe apparently walked out of the Arena under his own power which is good news. He went to the hospital, but there hasn't been any word since then.
Hopefully Clarkson can get prepared for next week, the games are going to be a lot tougher. It is always hard to come from games like these and get back to the tougher competition. I'm sure the guys will come through.
The M.O.P. line was outstanding tonight, they moved the puck and shot at will.
Back to the ECAC now, Lets keep the undefeated streak going.

Glad the goals finally came tonight. I always check the knight's scores with a little trepidation -- what a pleasant surprise to see an 8-1 score.
I think its a little surprising that the team beat them so handily tonight. Mercyhurst certainly looked a little better than a D-III team at the SIT in November, and as I recall they thumped Colgate pretty soundly (or, is 'Gate really that bad?).
Looking forward to being at Cheel Friday and Saturday for a real test. LET'S GO TECH!!!!!

As Josh B said at the end of the game this is not a huge win for the Knights...but it is important for CU's (and the EZAC's) image that we can still thump teams like Mercyhurts. I was a little nervous after only putting 2 on the board Friday. They did what should be expected of them. Unfortunately there's been too much doubt about whether they would do it. I too am looking forward to being at Cheel to watch them keep the ECAC undefeated streak going (Look for the cute 2 year old yelling SIEVE! SIEVE! IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!:p). Rather interesting this year I think Union will be more of a challenge than RIP. What does everyone else think?

Chuck, my eight month old daughter will be coming with me. Any chance your two year old is interested in mentoring?:-)
You're right -- Mercyhurst is a team the Knights should have beaten like they did last night, but the memory of last year's embarrassing quarterfinal series against UVM still lingers. Man, that was awful. The team needs to keep taking those should-wins as well as the more evenly matched games, or the result will be the same as last year.

VicB,
You're quite right that the powerplay is still not there. I neglected to notice in the 10 goal weekend that the powerplay was 1 for 16. It sure would be nice if that could be more reliable...
