Do we stand a chance against the leagues best teams?

If we play against them at home like we played against them on the road... yes, absolutely. Strong games, missed a couple chances that would've broken the game open. Convert those chances and it's a totally different game. As Roll has said frequently -- if the team keeps working hard to bury their chances, sooner or later their luck has to turn around. They get some bounces going their way and the outcome of 3-4 of the 7 losses are totally different. I know that sounds stupid, but the games they weren't really in (Union, Q-Pac, RPI and SLU to an extent) were due to lack of hard work. Against Cornell and Colgate, which I saw, and Princeton which I didn't, the losses could've easily been wins if it weren't for a couple posts and other unlucky breaks on offense. The defense is still somewhat inexcusable in my opinion, no reason to give up 3-4 goals a night in this league.

I totally agree. Play with some discipline and bury your chances and we can certainly win these games.
As long as Cheel feels like a home game, and nothing less, I think they'll carry a ton of energy into this one. George seemed pretty certain that the team can compete with Cornell and Colgate, and really anything goes in this conference this year. Bring out a wild crowd on top of it and I think it'll be a great pair of games.

Seeing as the students are on break this week, i doubt the above happens

Some might stick around Friday night, but youre right, when Clarkson is on break, the place empties out.
I never went home for February break, mainly due to the fact that I couldn't drive, and it was always kinda pointless to go home and sit around in the snow, when I could be on campus and sit around in the snow.

I'm pretty sure the majority of the band will be staying for both games, and if anyone's going home, they'll leave Sunday morning. With the rabid enthusiasm from a lot of the student section, I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of the seats filled there too.

I didn't realize the students weren't going to be there this weekend. I'm really disappointed. My family and I are making the 5 hr trek up to see these games, I like to sit near the students and act 15 years younger than I am. I'll still be obnoxious but it's more fun with other obnoxious people around you. I sure hope that the team shows up with some force this weekend, for selfish reasons if no other.

I need to read this page over a few times so you guys can raise my spirits. If we play like we did against SLU on the Friday Knight game, we can stick with any team. If it is like the Saturday SLU game, it will be a slaughter. Those are the only two games I have to judge against this year.
What do they need to do?
1) Stay out of the box (I don't think this is a bad this year as it has been in past years, but this past weekend was frightening.)
2) Skate hard the entire game ( it sounds basic, but maybe shorter shifts, they looked so tired at SLU)
3) Less of looking for the perfect shot? (they seem to circle the net great...just keep peppering?)
4) Stay out of the box
5) Stay out of the box
With only two games seen, my opinion means little. Oh...wait. It means nothing. Fun to write anyway.
LET'S GO TECH! GET OUT OF THIS SLUMP! YOU GUYS ARE GOOD! YOU CAN DO IT!

Y'know, I thought the same thing watching the SLU game at Cheel last weekend, and from what I gather from the play-by-plays done here. Two adages come to mind: 100% of the shots you don't take don't go in (thanks, Gretzky) and if you put the puck on net good things will happen.
Seems like Tech is making a lot of goalies look good lately, and the pipes have been making some good saves themselves. If they are trying to make the perfect shot, then it seems to me the plays are taking too long get set up, giving the defense more time to read what's going on.
The talent is there. The hard work is (usually) there. Its time to execute. Make the good play when it presents itself, instead of waiting for the perfect one.
Go Tech! defycornell!

Todd, that is the single greatest use for the defyconvention campaign that I have seen yet. I love it.
