5 minutes from game.

Missed the lines (can't type fast enough!)

Papa Smurf

Sounds like Ackley is back in the nets for SLU - he's been out for a long while due to injury.

Crowd sounds pretty good. Wonder how close the press box is to the ice?

LET'S GO TECH!

And we're about to start.

Brett Gobe
01-07-2006, 02:18 PM
Drew Bagnall is back for SLU. He severed a tendon in his hand back in October.

SLU on the first powerplay. Mason for interference.

Brett Gobe
01-07-2006, 02:21 PM
Clarkson kills the penalty. No chances to speak of for the Saints. 16 to play in the first.

Papa Smurf
01-07-2006, 02:22 PM
Sounds like a good PK out of the Knights - perhaps momentum building?

Brett Gobe
01-07-2006, 02:22 PM
GOOOAALL!

CAYER!

1-0 Clarkson!

Papa Smurf
01-07-2006, 02:23 PM
Cayer from Dodge on the commercial! 1-0 Knights!

LET'S GO TECH!!!

Ron

Cayer from Dodge during the Commercial Break. 1-0 CU

Ron
01-07-2006, 02:24 PM
What's happenin guys? Onto the PP again! Questionable but we'll take it.

Brett Gobe
01-07-2006, 02:24 PM
Clarkson headed on the powerplay. Ticky tack call, but a call none the less.

Papa Smurf
01-07-2006, 02:24 PM
Clarkson to go on a power play now - Bob and Josh questioning the call a bit.

Let's get some chances here.

EDIT: I'm in a bad phase with the 60 second rule now, so you're going to keep beating me with updates for a while :p

Ron
01-07-2006, 02:26 PM
Yeah, the 60 second rule is a killer. 4 on 4 for a short period.

Papa Smurf
01-07-2006, 02:26 PM
Hey Ron, how was Burlington?

Knights give the PP back with a hook called on Guthrie.

Brett Gobe
01-07-2006, 02:26 PM
Cayer (7) from Dodge at 4:30

Guthrie called for hooking. 4 on 4 for 1:09 then a short SLU powerplay.

Hey Ron. How did the Avenue finish up last night?

Ron
01-07-2006, 02:28 PM
I left at about 11:30 or so. I had been there since 5:30. It was a pretty good time. UNH ended up beating UVM so Maestro wasn't too happy.

Ron
01-07-2006, 02:30 PM
Brekelmans hits the crossbar!

Papa Smurf
01-07-2006, 02:32 PM
Play is sounding pretty up-and-down right now, both teams getting some shots on the goal, except for Brekelmans who decided to switch it up with the crossbar :p

And Kolu makes it 2-0!!!!!

Ron
01-07-2006, 02:32 PM
Max Kolu! GOAL! 2-0

Brett Gobe
01-07-2006, 02:33 PM
Hey Ron, how was Burlington?
Burlington was a solid time.

Clarkson kills the penalty. Brekelmans hits the crossbar! Clarkson has controled play in the last 10 minutes. Give an assist to Sullivan on that goal.

Gah, missed a goal.

2-0 TECH!

Papa Smurf
01-07-2006, 02:34 PM
Burlington was a solid time.2-0 TECH!

Haha sorry I forgot you were up there too, I should've went too I was just too damn lazy. Also, I heard really negative things about bars etc. in Burlington having restrictions on them because of New Year's Eve and said no way.

Clarkson goes on the PK as Isbister heads to the box.

Ron
01-07-2006, 02:35 PM
Yeah, it was. Burlington downtown was a little crazy at night and a little expensive with all of the first night ridiculousness. We hit a lot of the mandatory stops though, got our Magic Hat growlers and watched some decent hockey. Fun was had by all.

Ron

My understanding was the bars were actually open longer for New Years this year. Their main restriction out there is not double-fisting or having multiple drinks in front of you.

Wow! What a great start for the Knights. Sure would be nice to see the Knights return the drubbing that they suffered last year to the Saints.

Brett Gobe
01-07-2006, 02:38 PM
Kolu (2) from Willemsen and Arciero 11:53

Isbister goes to the box. SLU on their 3rd powerplay.

Clarkson kills the powerplay. Better shifts for SLU on that one. 4:25 to play in the first.

Brett Gobe
01-07-2006, 02:40 PM
Kolu called for holding. Saints on their 4th powerplay.

Saints take a slashing call now and we're off to 4 on 4.

Ron
01-07-2006, 02:40 PM
Clarkson going on the PP after one minute of 4 on 4.

Papa Smurf
01-07-2006, 02:42 PM
Clarkson takes another penalty (Mason?) 4-3 for :43, then even, then short Saints PP.

Brett Gobe
01-07-2006, 02:44 PM
End of 1.

Another solid first period for Clarkson. Let's not let down in the second like last night.

Bill
01-07-2006, 02:49 PM
Pretty Decent 1st, eh?!!!
Best to not give up very many more 4 on 3's however.
10 PIM is too many, but they always seem to play better when in trouble....
3rd jerseys on today -- they are awesome -- saw'em at Miami game -- very intimidating.

LGT!!!

I think trouble's exactly what Clarkson will be in if they keep taking penalties on a team with a very good offense such as SLU. :p

I really can't wait to see a picture of these jerseys, they sound pretty sharp. Bob and Josh said that the jerseys are going to be worn one more time after today (vs. Cornell) and then auctioned off. As if I needed more reasons to get up to Potsdam for that weekend.

Papa Smurf
01-07-2006, 03:02 PM
Start of the 2nd.

A couple of early chances for Clarkson here, keep up the hard work guys.

Brett Gobe
01-07-2006, 03:03 PM
Ackley makes the first nice save of the second period. Genovy misses a tip, Clarkson taking it to SLU to start this period. Genovy with another chance and Ackley with another stop. Good start.

Bill
01-07-2006, 03:06 PM
Weller 2 for X check ... they are not listening to us!!!

Ron
01-07-2006, 03:06 PM
So coach. What does the team need to do to be successful in the 2nd period?

Brett Gobe
01-07-2006, 03:08 PM
Weller goes for a crosscheck. SLU's 5th powerplay.

Paquet looking for the home run pass to Weller out of the box, just missed. Good kill from the Knights.

15 to play in the second.

Brett Gobe
01-07-2006, 03:09 PM
So coach. What does the team need to do to be successful in the 2nd period?
Well you know, we just gotta keep it going. Cant have any let down here. This is a strong team and if we give em an inch thier gonna take a foot you know? We just gotta play our game and take it one shift at a time. Hopefully we'll get some bounces and things will break out way.

Brett Gobe
01-07-2006, 03:11 PM
Guthrie is stopped by Ackley and Weller could not stuff home the rebound. SLU takes a penalty. Clarkson 2nd powerplay of the afternoon. Under 13 to play in the 2nd.

SULLIVAN SCORES!!!

Off his skate apparently. But its a goal.

3-0 Tech!

Papa Smurf
01-07-2006, 03:11 PM
Sullivan with the PP goal! 3-0 Tech!

Bob and Josh not sure if it went in off a skate. Looks like it's going to stand though.

Brett Gobe
01-07-2006, 03:14 PM
Goal was given to Genovy, but that might change. WHoever scored it, it's 3-0 Clarkson.

Clarkson going back on the powerplay.

Apparently it was announced as Genovy, the guys are still saying Sullivan.

And another PP for the Knights.

Bill

Wow!!! Bob thinks this is good for the future RS - I'm not so sure -- stirring up a hornet's nest is dangerous!!!!

Brett Gobe
01-07-2006, 03:20 PM
Ackley is out. Pesony in as SLU takes a time out.

vicb
01-07-2006, 03:20 PM

Nice welcome for the new goalie:D

Brett Gobe
01-07-2006, 03:25 PM
Josh's cell phone is ringing.

Guthrie called for tripping. SLU's 6th powerplay.

Ron
01-07-2006, 03:26 PM
He needs a new ringtone. Hey Brett, have fun adding up pick to click this week.

Brett Gobe
01-07-2006, 03:28 PM
At least there will be somthing to add. :D

Clarkson kills the powerplay.

Brett Gobe
01-07-2006, 03:29 PM
Attendance is 3987. Which personally I think is good. Josh thinks its a little low.

Papa Smurf
01-07-2006, 03:31 PM
Really not trying to throw out a jinx here, but McNulty finishing with a shutout would be really good to carry into the league series - just thinking in reverse about what Bob and Josh were saying about hanging a few on Pesony before the end of the game.

Game attendance something like 3987. Bob and Josh a bit disappointed in the numbers, but I'm not:

1) This is a huge hockey weekend in Canada - Hockey Day in Canada, where all 6 teams play each other. If the game had been in Ottawa instead of Montreal I think it would be a lot different.
2) School's out of session for both Clarkson and SLU. Not sure how many extra students would be going up to Ottawa, but I bet more than a few.

Ron
01-07-2006, 03:31 PM
Yeah I agree with you Brett. Today is Hockey Day in Canada. People are probably watching other hockey than two US college teams. If they were able to pull off a College/NHL double header attendance would've been much bigger.

Attendance is 3987. Which personally I think is good. Josh thinks its a little low.

Brett Gobe
01-07-2006, 03:34 PM
1:27 left in the second.

Clarkson on the kill with 1 to play in the second.

End of 2

Clarkson 6
SLU 0

Outstanding period for Clarkson.

Bill
01-07-2006, 03:39 PM
Really not trying to throw out a jinx here, but McNulty finishing with a shutout would be really good to carry into the league series -
Papa - my thoughts exactly, but I didn't want to be the first to mention it.
Comes down to SLUzers pride vs Knights determination to get Kyle the SO.

Ron
01-07-2006, 03:48 PM
I didn't know Phil Roy, Shawn Grant and Chris Bernard were all coaching. It looks like Neumann (Grant) and Hobart (Roy) are having amazing seasons. If they can keep that up for a couple of years, maybe we'll see them at the head coach position. It looks like Chris is in a position to help upright a program that's been in a little trouble as of late in Canisus, do big things with that, people will look.

Papa Smurf
01-07-2006, 03:51 PM
Rats, SLU gets on the board with a PP goal. 6-1 now.

Keep up the pressure guys.

Ron
01-07-2006, 03:52 PM
Way to jinx it guys. You need to stop hanging out with Tim McCarver

Brett Gobe
01-07-2006, 03:52 PM
SLU gets one back.

I blame Smurf.

Papa Smurf
01-07-2006, 03:54 PM
Yeah I apologize to Kyle, that one was my bad :p

Brett Gobe
01-07-2006, 03:56 PM
Grenzy rings the post.

Just under 17 left in the third.

Bill
01-07-2006, 03:57 PM
Yeah I apologize to Kyle, that one was my bad :p
All forgiven -- just thinking it may be enough.
Important now to not let the SLUzers win the third period.....

Papa Smurf

Keep the pressure up guys! Good chances here.

Brett Gobe
01-07-2006, 04:01 PM
15 to play in the third.

SLU gets another one.

6-2

Papa Smurf
01-07-2006, 04:01 PM
And SLU puts up another one. Now 6-2 good guys.

We need to get another goal.

Saints with a trip and Clarkson to go on the PP.

Brett Gobe
01-07-2006, 04:02 PM
A goal is not necessary but Clarkson needs a good powerplay here to take the game back.

Bill
01-07-2006, 04:03 PM
C'mon Josh -- a 4 goal lead uncomfortable??????? I'll take it.

Ron
01-07-2006, 04:04 PM
Sounds like a really good power play right now. Lots of opportunities.

SLU kills the PP. 10:55 to go.

A goal is not necessary but Clarkson needs a good powerplay here to take the game back.

Brett Gobe
01-07-2006, 04:04 PM
Clitsome hits the post! Cayer misses the rebound. Weller with a chance and its wide. Clarkson getting so momentum back here.

Powerplay over. But that is just what Clarkson needed.

10 and change to play in the 3rd.

Papa Smurf
01-07-2006, 04:06 PM
A goal is not necessary but Clarkson needs a good powerplay here to take the game back.

Again, maybe my head should be in this game but I'm thinking 3 weeks ahead here. I'd love for Clarkson to end the game here on as positive a note as possible, and it'd be nice to kick the extra point to do that.

Sounded like a good PP though, Clarkson has hit a lot of posts today in addition to the 6 goals.

Brett Gobe
01-07-2006, 04:09 PM
Kolu and Trone? go for coincidentals. 4 on 4 for 2 minutes.

4 on 4 over. Around 8 to play. Clitsome with a shot and draws a penatly. Clarkson back on the powerplay.

Papa Smurf
01-07-2006, 04:13 PM
SLU brings in another safety sieve. Pesony ends up with 1 GA before leaving.

Brett Gobe
01-07-2006, 04:13 PM
Powerplay over. 6 to play in the 3rd.

Change for SLU. Hallas in for Pesony in net.

Brett Gobe
01-07-2006, 04:19 PM
2 to play in the 3rd.

1 minute to play in the 3rd period.

SLU with a good chance but McNulty makes a nice save.

Papa Smurf
01-07-2006, 04:21 PM
Trevalyn takes the 5 min major for a hit from behind on Paquet, who is receiving medical attention right now. Paquet had the original penatly before getting hit.

Sounds like Weller picked something up in here as well.

And Bagnall goes over to the Clarkson bench to jaw a bit.

EDIT: 5 min major was contact to the head, not hit from behind. No game misconduct.

Brett Gobe
01-07-2006, 04:23 PM
Bagnall talking trash to the Clarkson bench. Classy.

43 seconds left in the period and things get chippy.

Trevaylan got a 5 minute major for checking Paquet from behind after the whistle.

Weller and Paquet got minor penatlies as well. And that will end it.

CLARKSON 6
SLU 2

Clarkson's best game of the year by far.

Papa Smurf

CLARKSON 6
SLU 2

Clarkson's best game of the year by far.

And what a time to have it too. On to the Capital District next weekend!

Bill
01-07-2006, 04:29 PM
Oustanding game overall, Cayer, Kolu Sullivan (2) Weller & Genovy -- Willemsen with his first point. Can't complain about loss of SO, not enuf experience taking a 6 goal lead into the 3rd. 3rd period will give Joe "something to build on" (heh heh heh) for the next one.
GOOD JOB KNIGHTS!!!:D
