Just got back home from a weekend at Miami - Comments follow....
1. Clarkson 3rd sweaters have a much smaller gold logo than Brett's picture and they are really intimidating -- nearly all black. They will be auctioned off in February.
2. Excellent weekend of hockey - SlU tie was an excellent game by both and Coach was OK with it as they are 1-1-1 (all OT games) against #1 & 2 in the country.
3. Our gang reasonably happy with BG result, although going down early not desirable. They did agree, however, that there are no bad wins!!!
4. As to Saturday -- whatta game -- we had them through 2 periods. Dodge blowing by their Hobey Candidate (Greene - D) for the shortie got them a little concerned, and then our strong play in the 2nd had'em back on their heels until their shortie. We stayed right with them all the way - McNulty played well, lots of hitting and skating -- we outshot'em by a couple -- they took one more penalty than we did, etc., game could've gone either way -- it is too bad the way it turned out, but let's face it -- they HAD to win, or ranking would've gone bye bye. Rico admitted after the game that we out played them.
5. I spoke with Chris' grandfather after the 2nd period, and with Stevie Y. after the game, and they did not have a report back yet on his injury situation. He did go to the hospital to get a checkout for a hyper extended elbow, so I hope nothing's fractured and he will recover quickly.
6. There were around 70 alums from the area at the game and at the pregame at Skippers - Steve Y. and Scott Smalling stopped by and spent some time with all at the pregame.
7. A great weekend for me, as I got a tour of the new (under construction) Miami rink, along with about 50 Miami hockey alums who were back for the weekend and Mr. Goggin -- who started the hockey program at Miami many years ago.
8. We cannot be upset with the Miami loss, as our gang green (uh BLACK) played very well and showed thay can compete with the best on the road following a long bus ride. I passed on my congrats to both teams' coaches for helping to return North Country hockey to its former glory.:D
