View Full Version : KNIGHTS at Miami

Let me begin first by saying "This is an exceptional year." With both Clarkson and SLUt doing so well, it is very exciting to keep track of games and polls. They are doing excellent in and out of the league. And with five teams from the ECAC in the top 20 ranking, 16 and above, I like how it all looks.
SLUt should have an easy time of it tonight, however they may be a little tired which will make it more difficult. They went through a tough test last night and now are ready to take away a sweep. They can't take Bowling Green lightly, but they should be able to pull off another W.
My concern for Clarkson is that #2 Miami was just handed a tie from a team, and therefore a league, that I am sure they believe is beneath them. Most leagues give the ECAC no respect, so why should this year be any different, as evidenced by this quote on the USCHO page "Second ranked Miami, though, may have missed an opportunity to take over the top spot by skating to a stalemate with upstart St. Lawrence." Upstart!? UPSTART!!?SLUt, although I love to hate them, is much more than an upstart.
Toknight is going to be a more physical game than the Miami team normally plays. They are going to be frustrated and looking for a way to redeem themselves from a game that they believed they should have won easily against the "Upstart." This will make for a very difficult game for Clarkson. Plus, with Miami on their home ice........with the possibility of taking the #1 ranking with a decisive win......
This is exactly the test the Knights need to show that this season is not a fluke, which I don't think most people think about the knights this year. A win would be another step in that direction. It further would show that the league is not overrated at this point in the season. The Knights have the ability to pass and score as they have not had in years. They are a thrilling team to follow.
So, in summary, of something most people won't read:
LET'S GO TECH
LET'S GO TECH
LET'S GO TECH
LET'S GO TECH
as long as the ECACHL sends a team to the frozen four with the regularity of the winter olympics occuring, why should leagues like the CCHA give them respect?

No fair bringing facts into the debate, Andy! I repeat... LET'S GO TECH!
Easy, because they're the same teams in the end that can prevent them from even getting to the tournament. Just ask the Hockey East.
http://www.uscho.com/stats/inter-conf.php
I actually found the quote kind of funny too, especially since SLU had a couple more wins last year than Miami did. Not a lot of chatter about Miami coming down to earth or being an upstart. They're having an amazing season, but if you had said last year at the time that they would be a 11-2-2 team everyone might've laughed.
Big game tonight, hopefully we'll see some fireworks!

Wow Ron. That link is quite amazing. Who would have thought the ECAC would be so strong in non-conference play this season. Best Record against teh Top 5 conferences, adn trailing only the WCHA for best record against the "Big 4"

Roll: Arciero in for Guthrie. Arciero did well filling in last night. If they are in box as much as last night, they're in for a long night. This team is not as good as they can get, this is the best team we've faced, and they get up for the best teams, should put up a good fight tonight. Clarkson wearing the 3rd jersery tonight designed by Max Kolu. Black jeresy modeled after the 1927 jeresy. Nice.

From George Roll in the pre-game show....he feels we are not as good as we can get and that we have a good chance toknight. George mentioned we will have to stay out of the penalty box toknight or we won't win the game. He felt it was tough losing someone of Shea Guthrie's caliber. I think John Murphy is psychotic...
READY...LET'S GO TECHERS....ON TO VICTORY TOKNIGHT.:)

I didn't know they had a third jersey, NICE! Any Pics of the jersey? Is this like Notre Dame wearing the green jerseys for big games?

I'll look around but this is the first I've heard of them. Bob said they were sharp. Solid black with a green C in a gold circle. He mentioned something like wings coming off the circle, ala Detroit. But I might have misunderstood that part. Above the circle is the word "TECH" in gold. As for wearing them for big games, that seems to be the motivation for this time.
Penalty killed.

Goldie Knight
12-10-2005, 11:02 PM
You're correct, Brett, we can do that....even without our leading freshman scorer, Shea Guthrie. Down with John Murphy for pretending to be a referee.
Brett Gobe
12-10-2005, 11:05 PM
Murphy wasnt the ref tonight, he stayed in Bowling Green.
We had Matt Shegoes, who called a good game. In my opinion.
Again, nothing to be upset about with this loss, Miami is a good team with two teriffic goaltenders. Clarkson skated with them and kept it close. If they play like this the rest of the way an at large bid is not out of the question.
Goldie Knight
12-10-2005, 11:21 PM
Yes, thank you Brett, I realize where John Murphy was toknight. He is probably to blame for St. Lawrence's loss toknight too.
I am still highly aggravated by the fact that JM had the audacity to call a game disqualification on Shea Guthrie last knight...instead of a game misconduct as he could have. We lost Shea for five periods, and in view of Coach Roll's pre-game comments last knight, Shea and Nick Dodge had worked hard on the power play during practice last week. John Murphy simply committed another one of his unforgivable mistakes with that absurd call. In all honesty, I am just thankful he was ousted from the ECAC.
GOOD EFFORT TOKNIGHT, CLARKSON GOLDEN KNIGHTS.:)
