It was announced in a local newspaper yesterday that Matt Smith, a goalie for the Mississauga Chargers of the OPJHL, has signed a letter of intent to attend Clarkson next year. The Charger's website congratulates Matt on receiving a Clarkson University Division I scholarship.

I almost forgot that we will also have on our roster next season a young man who played for the Air Force Academy in Colorado last year. He is sitting out this year as is required by NCAA regulations. I believe he is from the Albany area.

Merkosky is the kid from the Air Force Academy. I watched his Dad (Glenn?)play for and coach the Adirondack Red Wings in the AHL during the 80s and early 90s.

Dad was a skilled playmaker and hard-working forward. I think his son will fit in well at Clarkson.

I think he led Air Force in scoring as a freshman and sophomore( or was top scorer).
