View Full Version : Closing out the 2001 Part of the Season
Well now that the 2001 part of this season is over (thank God) here's looking forward to the Knights making their Annual Second Half surge. I think this past weekend gives me some encouragement that once play starts back up in January we should be able to compete for first in the ECAC. Study hard guys and enjoy the exams. Hopefully the injuries will be healed come the first of January.
Oh yes I got my tickets from Princeton in the mail yesterday. Looking forward to seeing the team in person on Feb 2nd. LGT.

Vic,
Wish I could say I shared your optimism but until our guys play with more discipline..i.e. stop the DUMB undisciplined penalties...we are doomed to basically spotting the opposition 2 goals a game! Our special teams have been poor and the goaltending mediocre at best.
I'd like to see more "Senior Leadership"...the kind we saw from guys like Wallace, Sheehan, Maidment. White and JF! That counts for a lot on a team that is counting so much on the freshmen and sophomores!
Glad to hear we'll see you at Princeton...you can count on the pregame again...not confirmed yet but I'll be contacting Triumph's soon...will keep ya posted! :D
I hope the guys study hard too...and "learn" to forget some of their bad habits from the first half! ;)
I think the Knights are capable of a second half surge. Like Rich says, discipline is the main problem now. They are taking a lot of retalitation penalties and just plain stupid away from the play penalties.
This last weekend however, the Knights showed they are capable of playing with the big boys. UNH is extremely talented, there were some defensive lapses but they responded well when UNH would score, they didn't fold up The Lowell game was an outstanding game to watch. I actually think the Knights played better in this loss than they have in 90% of their wins. Lowell is a solid team, they are big, fast and physical. They grind you down. Their defense is especially outstanding. If the Knights had put forth this effort, They would have at least split with Nodak, and pounded Northeastern and Providence (at least they would have won:) )
They played very good hockey this weekend, if they tighten up on the mental lapses (as seen for about 10 minutes in the 2nd period of the Lowell game) and get more discplined they can really do some damage. Their is definitely room for improvement, but they are looking much better right now than I expected form them for the season.

I see last weekend as incredibly positive for Clarkson's traditional second half surge. Defeating a #4 team 8-5 shows a goal oasis in the middle of a scoring dessert. They have the ability to score. It was proved again against UMass-Lowell (#5) in the last period. The pressure was on at 3-1 and they scored. I also was very impressed with the wise use of the timeout. The team needed a coach to tie them back together and I feel that Morris did that. I really liked the UMass-Lowell game a little better because it sounded (could only hear the internet broadcast) more like a team with a coach at the helm.
I have no ability to create paragraphs.
Remember, cheer for the fellow ECAC team tonight as they take on UNH. Go DARTMOUTH!!! Build the respect.
