1997 Probably one of the best yet most disappointing seasons in Clarkson History. First in the ECAC Regular Season with a 17-5-1 mark, 5-0-0 against Hockey East. Then lost a tough 2-1 game to Cornell in the ECAC Championship, still get a First Round bye in the NC$$ Tourney. Then Dan Murphy can't stop a beach ball in the 1st period of a 5-4 loss to Colorado College with a Frozen Four Trip on the line.
96
Number of goals scored in 2002-2003, Clarkson's first losing season since 1973-74. Also the first time since 1973-74 that a Clarkson team failed to score 100 goals in a season.

Associate Coach/GM Miami Club hockey (http://miami.ice.muohio.edu/club_hockey/coaches.php)
He is working with the CLUB hockey team - not the big boys. Suspect his larger role will be when the new building is finished next year in the programming/marketing job. I believe the new building will be done for the '06/'07 season, and it will be an awesome facility. I'll find out more next time I talk to our nephew. Other than some funding, the club hockey program has little if anything to do with the athletic department.

76 - 1976 season ends at 18-12-1 and starts Clarkson on a run of 26 non-losing seasons.
75 - my post grad year ends and Clarkson ends the year with a losing record, it's second straight season. Only has happened 3 times in the history of the program: 1923-24, 1942-43 and 1974-75. Let's hope this never happens again.

Thanks Joe, I was going to use that as well.
1970 - Clarkson's last trip to the NCAA Championship game. After defeating Michigan Tech in the 4-3 in the semi finals Clarkson face Brian Cropper and the undefeated Cornell Big Red. Clarkson took an early 1-0 lead on St. Jean goal and a 3-2 lead on goals from Kemp and O'Flaherty but a third period hat trick sealed the game and the championship for Cornell.
Clarkson went 24-8 for the season.

I was at that game. Best two teams I ever saw. Cornell '70 was clearly by far the best team that college hockey has ever seen. CCT '70, without Mr. Bullock, was certainly one of the top 10 all-time teams in college hockey. But they did have Bullock -- probably one of the top 2 or 3 all-time college goalies -- and that makes them very near Cornell '70. However, Cornell '70 was devastating; Bullock had to make 48 saves at Lake Placid, and had to make 48 saves in Boston two weeks earlier in the ECAC 1-goal loss to Cornell. (How many times have you seen the MVP come from the *losing* team?) As good as that Tech team was, Cornell still basically skated them off the ice in both games. Dan Lodboa was hands-down the most outstanding player ever to wear a college hockey uniform. And they had another 5 guys not too far behind *him*. Harkness was a genius -- selecting and coaching. Brooks of USA '80 took every page right from his book. Smart guy; same result.

62 - Clarkson makes it's first trip to the NCAA finals. By defeating Providence and Colby in the first rounds of the first ECAC tounrment, Clarkson face arch-rival St. Lawrence in the finals. The Saints prevailed 5-2 but the Knights were not done there. Clarkson headed to the NCAA finals in Utica to face Michigan in the semi finals. We were at both games in Utica -- Michigan was captained by Mr Berenson, who scored 2 goals in the third period, but came up one goal short -- He has never forgotten it, and made some nasty comment about us at the NCAA press conference in Cinncinnati after Michigan won in '96 & someone asked him what it was like when he was playing!!!! I believe our record against Michigan in the NCAA's still stands at 1-0 - only time we have met them, if memory serves.

42 - Number worn by Matt Nickerson. Matt played one year at Clarkson and was easily the most notorious player to be on the roster since Derrek Ray. In one year Matt racked up 61 penalties for 179 minutes. Breaking the single season ECAC record held by none other than Dan Fridgen and the single season Clarkson record held by Derrek Ray. Nickerson left to go play in the Quebec leagues where he was delt a 12 game suspension for fighting in the penalty box. Ogie Olgelthorpe would be proud.
