Geoff Brown was appointed Director of Athletics Fundraising at the end of October; he will assume his new duties on 1 July 2002 according to a University press release.

Forgive me folks, but it sure looks like Geoff was "kicked upstairs".

Now -- what is the athletic priority at Clarkson? Should most of the resources be poured into the only revenue sport at CCT (men's hockey)? Or is it the other sports????

No opinions -- just starting a discussion.

BTW, before I forget. Geoff-- good luck with your new job. It looks like a heck of a challenge-especially with the economy not in the best of shape.

Not "sure he was kicked upstairs"...but I do know that some of the coaches at Tech are not happy about his no longer being AD!

It will be interesting to see if the next AD is a guy without a hockey background!

Stay tuned...heck, I might even apply for the job! ;)

I think it is pretty obvious that the Administration will expect in a few years that the Athletic Department be a lot more self-sufficient in funding than it is now. You don't fund a completely new position like that without expecting it to provide handsome dividends. Expect this new office to establish Friends of Clarkson Hockey, BB, Soccer, Skiing, etc., etc. As someone who did two sports other than hockey, I think it is probably overdue. We alums haven't been asked for much from the D-3 sports at Clarkson. That area is probably a huge untapped resource.
