RIT will play 20 Division 1 games next season in its transition year from D-III to D-I. IIRC a CCT vs. RIT game would not count against CCT's RPI, so I look for a visit by CCT to Rochester in the near future.
Again IIRC, we played Providence in 1976(?) in the (then) War Memorial, so why not CCT vs. RIT at the Blue Cross??? It would be one heck of an Alumni Event.

would imagine 'if' there are any RIT/Clarkson games in the foreseeable future they'd be in Potsdam. Why would an established program voluntarily run the risk of losing to what was a recent d3 team by playing at their place?
Reminds me of college football when teams like Troy State, North Texas have to play the big-name programs at their place every year.
Frankly, Clarkson probably should stick to playing better non-league competition anyway. Beating up on a non-scholarship RIT team won't make Clarkson improve.

There is already talk of BC playing RIT at BCA next year because York coached Wilson at Bowling Green and there are two Rochester kids on BC.

I think there is a strong possibility of a game between Clarkson and RIT the next year or two.
Roll and Wilson played on the same 84 NCAA Championship team, and would play twice a year when Roll coached Oswego.
RIT already has games set against Air Force and Robert Morris, a spot in the Quinnipiac tournament, and at least one game at Bowling Green, Colgate and Cornell.
I also think a game against Union is in the works.... and RPI has an opening in their holiday tourney in two years

I just had to chuckle at the local news sports guys getting all excited about RIT going D1. Typical Rochester mindset. They got all pumped about them playing the big hockey schools like BC, etc, but didn't really get into RIT not being able to give scholarships and those other schools being able to give scholarships and the impact it'll have on the recruiting game. Granted Onion is doing better these days, but that was the first thing I thought of when the story came on the evening news....like "no contest. " Until RIT puts up, I'm not going to buy into this Rochester-borne idea of them hanging with the big dogs. I think the only thing playing RIT would do is cause Tech to play down. They ought to stick with scheduling the traditional powerhouses. The news folks talked a little about Hobart and JHU not offering scholarships for lacrosse and being able to hack the jump, but comparing Hobart and JHU to RIT is like comparing apples and oranges. It's no contest academically. Just my 2 cents.

Petal, I tend to agree with your assessment. While I'd enjoy a RIT/Clarkson matchup just to harass my RIT alum brother.....I don't see the benefit for the program.
Yes, the Bowling Green connections, and alumni base is there...but for fans of the Knight program - what is the benefit??? Other than it is better than a game against Niagara? I don't think Clarkson needs to help other programs right now, but concentrate on their own.

They were on the same side as Clarkson, Colorado College, RPI, and SLU in the fight against The Proposal a year ago. I don't remember about Hobart.

Hobart didn't jump to D-I men's lacrosse until after the original legislation that create the waiver, therefore as a D-III school they are not eligible to offer athletic scholarships to their lacrosse team members. As I recall (grew up about 30 minutes from Geneva), Hobart's lacrosse team is reasonably competitive at the D-I level, but I think a big part of that is environmental - central New York is a mecca for lacrosse at the high school level, and the exposure Hobart gets by being in their backyard helps to offset the inability to give athletic scholarships. It would be like a D-III school in Minnesota playing up to D-I in hockey without scholarships - I would bet that they could put a reasonably good team on the ice (although probably not one that's going to knock off UMinn, UMD, Mankato, etc).
All that being said, I don't think RIT understands how hard the recruiting process is going to be for them.

I was a bit off on this prognostication:

Personally, I think RIT will do just fine. There is a whole lot more to recruiting than just raw scholarships. Building, big fan base, budget for everything that needs to get done. And RIT looks to have all of the resources needed to throw into the effort which I imagine they will. This is really a good match for AH. They will be up to speed in no time, you watch.
